He would be criticized for saying Sandy Hook wasn't faked? By whom?

It's not his job to correct eveybody else.  That kind of stuff is self evident anyway.  Ever heard the bible verse -- don't answer a fool according to his folly.

There are people who continually harass the parents of the children who were shot for faking the massacre. These people are likely to be swayed by Trump to stop doing that if he were to denounce it. They are, after all, certainly among his base.
