Clinton v. Trump
John Stone replied to gatomontes99's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Venezuela is intended to be a powerplay on Cuba. It's working. ............. oil? u kidding? Big Oil isn't that stupid - a few speed bumps ahead. -
............. ur dangerously close to implying that Musk's 1/4 billion dollar support to Trump's campaign contributed to his win. haha it's legal ............ don't blame Trump. Ain't democracy great? .............. and it's going to get greater. The challenge of a successful democracy is to be convincing in defending the legality (legitimacy) of the outcome.

...........suppose it should also be said that Albertan's receive nothing from Ottawa.

Multipolar World 1814-1914, 2008-present

Kissinger's (Nixon's NSA) visit to China was covert and very strategic in terms of defense. ........... a pseudo ally that could be controlled thru economic reliance on the U.S.? Nixon envisioned China as a useful counterbalance to the Soviet Union. The USSR was the main threat to U.S. dominance. Today, China / Russia maintain a close strategic partnership (economic, military, and political) As far as Nixon's strategy goes? The tail wagging the dog? (or soon will be) What ur witnessing today is not about peace ............ it's about global dominance (influence / power) ......USA, Russia, China advantage? China ................................................................ USA / Russia -
Canadian? All the benefits - without the cost
John Stone replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
................... is Toronto's Sankofa Square (aka Dundas Square) reverting back to the namesake anytime soon? How about Sir John A Macdonald ............... ....................... Canada is rife with Woke and Cancel Culture. Judging the past thru the lens of today is soooooooooo Trudeau. -
Three super-powers will control the world?
John Stone replied to Radiorum's topic in The Rest of the World
I'll play the Devil's advocate and say that considering Canada's size, the relatively small population and the bottomless watershed of natural resources it's future in terms of economy can only continue to grow. The problem for Canada is likely in terms of sovereignty - not the south, the north............ specifically sea routes. The country will need (crucial) to ally itself to defend it's north (diplomacy) Likely that country will be the U.S. because it makes sense - but that is not a slam dunk either. The rub is, the conditions - what 100 year lease and on what, what sharing, if any? -
From all accounts Melania could care less whether the pic makes money for the producers or not. She was paid 40 mil for what some would describe as a documentary. During her life she has likely been witness to some realpolitik within her family, in her native state of Slovenia. Considering that exposure Melania likely finds the American public fickle, comical and spoiled! But she'll take advantage of her circumstance ............. and I applaud her for it. She has done extremely well in her life ......... doubtless, Melania likely can't believe how far she's come herself.

Estimates of civilian deaths caused by U.S. bombing during the Vietnam War range from approximately 30,000 to 182,000, with some estimates suggesting nearly 2 million civilian deaths overall. 30K - 2 million? The 2 million figure favored the NVA for propaganda purposes, while the 30k favored the U.S. / ARVN The idea is to exploit the figures one way or the other. 2

Society is comprised of the Upper, Middle and Lower (income) class. No political ideology has a 'lock' on those within a certain income class - a poor redneck can be politically Right, while a wealthy 'name' can promote the political Left. All good, but the U.S. middle class us shrinking - has been for decades. Suppose it should be mentioned that the economy is based on consumerism, George Carlin's, 'stuff'! The U.S. economy is based on people having the ability to buy, 'stuff'. The middle class, drives education, health, and housing investment, and plays a key role in supporting social systems. To paraphrase, the so-called, 'middle class' is the majority 'stuff' consumer. ......... and the majority tax payer. On the other hand, the upper class tends to exhibit “arrogant political behaviour” this class resists democracy - change, which can provoke extreme reactions from the lower class............. extreme reactions are in the realm of the political, civil unrest, etc. The middle class is the buffer between the two democratic ideologies. Generally, the middle class determines the winner in any general election. As the middle class shrinks, the extremes between the Left and Right become more prevalent. Arguably this will escalate to the point where a democracy with a shrinking middle class determines either an extreme Left or extreme Right affiliation. Fascism or Communism ............. Dictatorship. Germany 1933 is a prime example. .................. Fascism Communism, Dictatorship.

Any ballot controversy / irregularity should result in those responsible (State) having their polling stations closed and the ballots confiscated by the FBI pending a determination of legality. -
China has released a concept video of a futuristic space carrier that it says can deploy unmanned fighter jets (pi$$ down our neck and say it's raining) capable of flying to the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere. And then there's the concept of A.I. Lunar launch cites, China is actively pursuing its goal of landing astronauts on the Moon by 2030 - rumor is it is the dark side. The ultimate threat - as Oppenheimer stated, 'it's inevitable'. China's science programs and by extension technology is on steroids. .............. it ain't paranoid if its real. It's real.

.......... arguably the prize goes to the Nazi - WWII - 6 million jews - death camps. In the last totally free elections in Germany in 1932, the Nazi party beat out every other party, winning over 35 percent of the vote. Of course at that time (supposedly) the Nazi were simply celebrated for keeping the trains running on time. By 1945 less than 1 percent identified themselves as Nazi - there they wuz, - gone!
-
..............'not pursuing'? Rather than apologize, Oppenheimer justified pursuit of an atomic bomb as inevitable, stressing that scientists must expand man’s understanding and control of nature. Be grateful the royal 'we' got there first. ..........suppose an argument can be made that 'fat boy' and 'little man' saved lives. The guy that gave the order to drop the crowd pleaser is rumored to have at one time run a men's clothing store. The argument always rages whether Germany would have got the same treatment - being Caucasian and all.

3 women board a plane for the 1st time an Asian a Caucasian and a african-american. The Asian announces "I'm scared but i wore fluro underwear so if we crash they can see me" The Caucasian says "i wore my stars and stripes bikini as underwear so i can be noticed and picked up 1st". The African American says "i not wearing any panties at all!!" The other women ask how's that going to help! The African American replies "well if we crash the 1st thing they are going to look for is the black box!!"

....... fusion energy depends on containing temperatures that far exceed those found on the surface of the sun Containing this 'plasma' is a challenge. It is the energy source of the future IMO. Some work still to do - 'what is possible, is done, what is impossible, will be done'. The incredible energy release with fusion can be demonstrated with a Hydrogen bomb - damn thing, being open ended is truly scary. Imagine something that takes a fission chain reaction to act as a squib.

........... what is the norm at a convention ........... doubt its 700K? Nah, the guy did good - winds at his back.
