............. just heard SecState say that the military objective of this op is: 1. destroy the Iranian Navy 2. destroy the Iranian missile / drone cache and manufacturing capability ........ totally realistic and a far cry from the Administrations initial objective of regime change and the nuc agenda. Likely the focus will shortly switch to Gaza - Israel is mobilizing tens of thousands of reservists. -

The 'fog of war' is a phrase roughly akin to Mike Tyson's, 'everyone has a plan until you get punched in the face'. The 'fog of war' is tactical When u deploy troops u need to establish an objective - the objective is the goal line. If u fail to reach the goal line you reevaluate the situation - and either claim victory by moving the goal line, and retiring or .......... go even bigger attempting to reach that elusive, 'mission accomplished'. (mission creep) Once the battle is engaged it becomes a political football - the stakes are huge measured against any parameter. -

historically, the U.S. is partial to 'mission creep' ............... largely fueled by political hacks. -

It is uncertain what type of weapon was used. Civilian technology allows detection of any airborne target. The type of technology employed by military ground stations these days not only detects the target but through crypto, positively identifies the target as friend/foe - foolproof. The same systems are used with manpads and cruise type weapons - in the case of the cruise this positive I.D. allows dwell time within a defensive shield without the worry of being mis-identified and engaged. The so-called, 'shoot down' is difficult to explain as an accident ............... unless it wasn't. The fire control equipment used to launch surface-air (SAM) is extremely sophisticated. ...... The shoot-down incident points toward lack of international co-ordination re: combat air picture or ........... intentional. Very troubling for any combat deployment over an active theatre ...................... x10 low level. -

Operation Overlord was launched June 6, 1944, (D-Day). It involved the largest seaborne invasion in history to liberate Nazi-occupied France and ultimately Western Europe. The operation combined airborne and amphibious assaults, with nearly 160,000 troops crossing the English Channel on the first day and over two million Allied forces landed in France by the end of August. Arguably the tragedy was inept World leaders ignoring the red flags leading up to WWII. -
............... ok ......... Canada's military needs ships, submarines, a/c, armor, training, personnel, personnel, leadership........ but lets start with drones and winter parkas................. the journey of a million miles begins with a single step.

............ the road to hell is paved with good intentions - hopefully this won't be an example. Ike is probably looking down and grateful Trump wasn't around to spearhead Overlord! Trump rhetoric leaves much to be desired - he needs to listen to his military experts on this.......... this ain't the stock market! All that said, I do wish him luck - glory to the troops! -

The collapse of the USSR was driven by decades-long economic and systemic problems. While the area's economy initially experienced rapid growth, it eventually slowed due to inefficiencies from centralized planning, flawed reforms, and changing social and cultural dynamics. Mikhail Gorbachev’s policies, such as perestroika (economic restructuring), attempted to modernize the system but also accelerated structural weaknesses. Key turning points, including declining industrial output, rising consumer shortages, and political unrest, resulted in the formal end of the Soviet Union in 1991, marking the end of one of the world’s largest centralized economies -
Trump just Effed Carney Royally LOL

Apparently before the a/c departed, U.S. citizens were taken off the flight. The 'Canadians' killed in the shoot-down were a mixture of naturalized/ dual citizenship. The shoot down was no mistake, it was a terrorist act. Iran didn't recognize their dual-citizen status. Condemn Carney? He should be applauded. -

.............. probably use the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, Jan 8th 2020 as justification for supporting this military action.......... Fifty-five Canadians and 30 permanent residents were killed when Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp shot down the passenger plane in the skies over Tehran with a pair of surface-to-air missiles. -
Indeed. What were they thinking? Destroy the Pacific Fleet and then we'll negotiate?? Arguably the only other event that raised the Nation's ire as much was 9/11.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, believe it was that sentiment that touched off WWII Jap attack on Pearl. Really think China would react in some fashion the same way.

......... could provide trade leverage - over 90 percent of Iran's oil goes to China.

there is no exit plan.......... The hope is that Reza Pahlavi can be installed. The question is whether a sock-puppet will be accepted ........ with today's communication he'd be about as transparent as a plate glass window. Trump would have to be crazy to endorse this guy - that is not to say he wouldn't be ideal - but could he survive or would there be civil war. What it would amount to is Imperialism.

Judaism is a religion. Israel is a modern country - it wouldn't allow modern jews to not understand ........ from a young age. The Jewish travails, throughout history right up until today, make the Nation worthy of great respect.
