Im guessing they were about to cancel him once his contract was up ala Colbert but he probably had a conduct clause or something in his contract that let them get out of the contract immediately. These late night shows are expensive with little return, they are all losing money right now. They employ hundreds of high cost people and 1.8 million viewers aren't going to cut it. Gutfeld which is much cheaper is getting over 3 million
