There was no chance of him even coming to trial But many have predicted that he would face charges after leaving office, and indeed that came to pass. This is not a guy who has been beating the odds in court or anything. I'm not sure why you'd think that someone facing 90 felony charges doesn't stand a pretty good chance of at least one conviction.
