How old are you? I don't know how much you understand about politics or democracy, but it's not his job to supply answers to how to fix the country's problems. We're not in an election and he's not required to hand out a guidebook for you and the Liberals to examine to see how they can pick it apart or steal from it. Which is why opposition parties don't ever do such things. Cool. Now do Chretien. Jesus, are you STILL going on about prostitution!?

What do you imagine the Canadian vision is? Is it to bring in massive numbers of immigrants from cultures international studies repeatedly find to be the most racist, homophobic, and antisemitic on Earth and tell them we respect their cultures and to not bother trying to change them? The idea of penalizing cities is based on them throwing up roadblocks to increasing housing numbers. Oh? You going to campaign against the Liberals? They have all sorts of policies in place that penalize lower levels of government for going against what they want them to do.

It might mean nothing to you that job hiring and promotion is based on race. It might mean nothing to you that criminal sentencing is based on race. It might mean nothing to you that government programs, grants and benefit programs are based on race. That universities and schools teach young people that Canada is a horrific land of oppression, racism, homophobia, transphobia and islamophobia, or that its entire history can be written off as genocide, colonial evil and racism. It might mean nothing to you that our streets are clogged with jew-hating terrorist lovers the police won't touch because left-wing politicians are afraid it might cost them votes. It might mean nothing to you that every foreign ethnic. racial and religious group in Canada is awarded grants by the government to celebrate themselves while Canadians are told to shut the f*ck up and not offend anyone. But it bothers a very highly significant number of Canadians.

Witch hunts are generally defined as hunts for something that doesn't exist. There are plenty of woke people, groups and institutions. Every program, policy and law this government has passed in the last ten years has been woke or had woke components, everything from daycare subsidies to university grants for scientific and social research.

Can't remember the last news story about biker shootouts, but black drug dealers and gang members seem to do it daily. There's something missing from this report and it has to do with how the federal government defines things like 'visible minority' and 'racialized'. It doesn't include indigenous people. Who commit a hugely disproportionate amount of violent crime. According to a quick goggle search, they committed 33% of homicides in 2023. Now if you check your own cite but reformat it under % it shows that 30.5% were by 'racialized' people. Add 33% by Indigenous people and you get 63.5% The reason whites aren't on those wanted posters is likely because most of the homicides they commit are partner-related and quickly solved with an immediate or almost immediate arrest. People not involved in crime would normally find it a lot harder to hide from police than those who are.

How immigration is making Canada - and Europe - poorer
I am Groot replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We rarely deport failed refugee claimants. We send them a registered letter notifying them their appeals have been denied and ordering them to leave. If they don't leave, well, Border Services has a very small unit tasked with finding convicted criminals who are to be deported. They can barely cope with that and have no time to look for failed refugee claimants. If they come across one they'll deport them, but that's not often. The skilled category is deceptive to begin with. Everyone who arrives under it is not skilled, only the principal applicant. The rest of the numbers are his/her spouse and children - none of whom face any tests for language or education. This is half a dozen years old, but given the huge increase in immigration, the cheating going on with foreign students and foreign workers, the sixfold increase in elderly immigration numbers, not to mention the huge increase in refugee claimants (85% of whom are accepted) do you find any logic to the belief things have gotten BETTER, as opposed to worse? I'm betting the percentages have actually worsened. In fact, only about 15 to 17 per cent of the annual flow consists of immigrants selected because they have skills, education and experience. Because of the pressure to get high numbers, few of these workers are seen or interviewed by visa officers. The selection is done by a paper review. The remainder of the movement is made up of the spouses and children accompanying the workers, family members sponsored by relatives in Canada, immigrants selected by the provinces (who do not have to meet federal selection criteria ), refugees and humanitarian cases. https://ottawacitizen.com/opinion/columnists/bissett-immigration-policy-is-out-of-control-and-needs-an-overhaul -

How immigration is making Canada - and Europe - poorer
I am Groot replied to I am Groot's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
From the cite: But surely the economic contribution that immigration is making outstrips these costs, right? Nope. As I’ve been arguing for years, the OBR has finally looked at the fiscal impact of different types of immigration into Britain and concluded that the very kind of low-skill, low-wage migration that our hapless politicians in Westminster are now encouraging is a net fiscal cost, not benefit, to the economy and taxpayers. As the OBR analysis finds, an average low-wage migrant costs the taxpayer about £150,000 by the time they reach 60, about £465,000 by the time they reach their 80s and about £1 million if they live to 100. The OBR also find that tweaking different kinds of migration makes little difference to our country’s growing debt problem. In short, mass immigration is simply not the panacea the expert class want you to think it is. -

At present, only about 13% of those we bring in (probably less) are assessed for skills, education, or even language ability. As the vast majority of newcomers are coming from the third world they, at the very least, almost certainly have poor language skills. The Stats Canada figures on immigrant earnings and refugee earnings attest to this. The only group that earns a decent living here are the principal applicants under the 'skilled' category. Well educated? Well, some do. But thanks to the government, the student visa program has become a principal route to immigration, and the 3rd world, especially India, has noticed. A lot of these young people are NOT well-educated, and can barely speak English. They have fake documents attesting to their previous education and language skills, and then fake how much money they have by taking out a very short-term loan in India for just enough time for it to go into a Canadian bank and for the government to verify it's there. Then it goes back. Then they come here and wind up working 40 hrs a week at minimum wage jobs while taking some cheapo administration course at a community college - assuming they even show up for classes. And what good are those degrees if they're not recognized here, or if their language skills aren't adequate for them to work in those fields? The language skills needed to work the cash are a far cry from those needed to read, digest, and write complex scientific papers and reports. Not really. Basically, almost all refugees are immigrants. We have an 85% acceptance rate. Those few rejected just stay anyway because we don't keep track and don't have any way of booting them out. I don't even know why we don't just shut down the Immigration and Refugee board and wave everyone straight on in. Probably save us money. I don't believe in raising the minimum wage. I believe the market should handle that. And I'm not sure what taxes have to do with this. From my perspective, minimum wage jobs are for people with minimal abilities and experience. They're generally the kind of thing you do when just getting out of high school, and which you progress through as you gain more experience and valuable work skills. Foreign workers screw with that paradigm. So do refugees because they rarely rise up given their poor communication skills and lack of education. Higher profits for business but higher costs for government, which means higher taxes. So much for those profits. -

This, of course, is based on early beliefs that don't really apply to a welfare state. And I'm not sure they apply that well even without them. Lowering the overall education and skill level of the workforce cannot lead to more wealth in the country. That makes no logical sense. Yes, businesses get cheaper workers but those workers are less productive and can't afford to buy the goods of that business (or others), and often have to be subsidized by the state through various tax and benefit programs. We are paying tens of billions each year to support poor people with few or no saleable skills. The cost of taking care of the quarter million 'asylum claimants alone is over $20 billion per year. Then we have millions of former applicants as well as family-class immigrants who are now on welfare or working in minimum wage jobs or the likes of Doordash or Uber, or in prison. All of them consuming scarce and expensive healthcare resources. -
It has to do with what half the discussion on the thread is about. Hamas found to be exaggerating (lying) about death numbers. The report — titled, “Questionable Counting: Analysing the Death Toll From the Hamas-Run Ministry of Health in Gaza” — includes a meticulous analysis of casualty figures released by Hamas since the October 7 massacre that sparked the ongoing war in Gaza, along with a third-party media analysis on how the numbers have been reported. It found “widespread inaccuracies and distortion in the data collection process” used by the Gaza Ministry of Health (MoH), including “significant daily increases in the reported deaths of women and children that are mathematically impossible.” https://nationalpost.com/opinion/exposing-hamass-phony-casualty-statistics

One of the problems with discussing immigration in Canada is the dearth of statistical information the government makes available. This government, in particular, which promised to be the most transparent, the most open, open by default government in history is actually the most tightly closed in history. It either won't give out information or makes it very hard to find, requiring multiple access to information requests from researchers. Canadians have come to know, broadly, that immigration is making us all poorer, increasing housing costs, and making it hard to find a doctor. But there's little in the way of government stats to back up this clear realization. Things are a bit better in the UK, though, which is facing the EXACT same situation we are, with huge numbers of largely low-skilled people coming in from North Africa and the Middle East, increasing housing costs and making it very hard to get doctors or other services. They, however, sometimes have access to better statistics, and other European countries are less shy about divulging the problems immigration has caused. And in short, immigration as presently constituted in Canada and Europe is 'hollowing out' our welfare states and making us poorer. Almost every immigrant who comes in through any means other than direct skills costs us money. How much? We don't know in Canada because the government won't tell us. We only know that asylum claimants cost us $82k per year per claim because a tory MP managed to dig into various books and pull the numbers free. We do know from government stats that regular immigrants, especially family class do more poorly than Canadians, but there's no dollar cost to the state attached. But Matt Goodwin has been doing some research in the UK and has come out with a lot of information valuable to Canadians. But what was also interesting about this report is that, unlike what usually happens, it did not point to mass immigration as the answer to these problems. Why? Because even the technocrats at the OBR have finally realised that the current model of mass immigration that we are pursuing in the UK is weakening, not strengthening, the economy. In short, the very kind of immigration that our hapless political elites on both the Left and the Right have been encouraging since Brexit—low skill, low wage, non-selective immigration from outside Europe— is the most economically damaging. https://www.mattgoodwin.org/p/the-economic-case-for-mass-immigration?utm_source=publication-search

Would you just go shut the f*ck up already? You're the most boring person on this site and that's one hell of an accomplishment given some of the other nutters here. I have a feeling that what most people think of as the centre, you think of as far right. Perhaps because you're so far to the Left even the NDP are too far right for you.

The vicious fighting between Arabs and Jews goes back well beyond 70 years. And probably is due more to the antisemitism in the Quran than anything the Jews actually did. There's an awful lot of pretty vicious, hateful anti Jew stuff in that book. But let's put things even more clearly. In 1948 after the Arabs refused to accept the UN plan and attacked Israel and LOST, the West Bank became part of Jordan while the Gaza Strip was taken over by Egypt. No Palestine! As for the Arabs who left Israel itself, well, if they'd have stayed they'd have been fine, just like the millions of Arabs there now. And perhaps the homes of the Arabs who fled Israel proper were then filled by Jews chased out of surrounding Arab countries. They were all accepted into Israel and made citizens. The Arabs, though, the ones who left? The surrounding Arab states refused to accept them, refused to give them citizenship. It's a cruel world, but the primary responsibility for what happened to people back then should be laid on the Arab states. And the primary responsibility for what is happening to Palestinians now and in the last several decades is on their own heads and that of their leaders for refusing to stop committing terrorist and guerrilla attacks on Israel. Then you never should have entered it.

It seems you don't understand English any more than you understand basic logic. There are underlying socioeconomic and cultural reasons behind the disproportionate amount of violent crime coming from natives and blacks. But there's no doubting it IS greatly disproportionate. It's relevant to how we became infected with the American Woke virus. It's not relevant to crime statistics in Canada.
-
Yeah. They're also far less likely to be involved in drive-by shootings, stabbings, and other forms of gang and drug violence. And also commit a greatly disproportionate amount of crime, especially violent crime. The highest crime areas of Canada are always those adjacent to native reserves or cities with high numbers of natives like Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Thunder Bay. Your cite is from the US and not relevant.

Stop using bullshit Palestinian words. Some Palestinians were certainly threatened and left. Some left out of the general fear of war. Others left because Arab nations around them told them to. So what? There's absolutely NOTHING about that which is unique. Fourteen million Sudanese have fled war. Today! No one cares. No one cares about the million Jews forced out of surrounding Arab countries either. The Palestinian Authority has no authority. It's derisively dismissed among Palestinians, even on the West Bank, and at the moment is fighting off Hamas and other Islamic fighters.

The bureacratic idiocy of the German government is beyond belief. They put concrete barriers to stop cars and trucks from ramming through the shoppers but... they left them wide enough apart so emergency vehicles could get through in case of an emergency... Ponder this for a moment. Consider how moronic you'd have to be to do this?

I don't know how much you know about the history of warfare, especially as carried out in heavily populated urban environments, but the casualties the Palestinian 'civilians' have suffered due to this war are probably the lowest of any peoples in modern history. From what I have read in this kind of environment, the death toll among the civilian populace is something like 10 for every 1 combatant. In Gaza it's closer to 1-1. And the majority of those civilians appear to be the relatives of fighters who were in their homes together. You should bear in mind that Hamas does not distinguish between military casualties and civilians when it reports deaths. It makes no mention of whether the people killed were fighters or those related to them. Should the families be considered innocent? Most of the Israeli hostages who have returned reported being held in the houses of Hamas fighters, taunted, beaten and tormented by them AND their families. Thousands of Palestinian civilians eagerly joined the attack on Israel once the fences were knocked down, and the civilians in the street cheered and cried in joy at the great 'victory' as their fighters turned laden with helpless hostages. There was a notorious phone call one of these terrorists placed to his parents from Israel "Your son has killed ten Jews!" The parents were overjoyed, crying with pride in their son. Do they bear no responsibility for putting hatred in his heart and head? Do the parents of the thousands of other terrorists? Gaza elected Hamas. Gaza supported them. Gaza cheered on every terrorist attack on Israeli civilians. Now they are getting their just deserts. Screw them.

Look. The crime problem in this country is directly related to the way our academics, influenced by their American counterparts, have successfully spread an ideology of guilt and shame about our history. This has led to nonsense like the Gladue ruling, and rules and laws meant to create a two-tier criminal justice system that offers gentle slaps on the wrist to non-white offenders - who are the majority of violent criminals. Why, is it, I wonder, that we descendants of the British are the only people on Earth who are required to feel shame about our ancestors? No matter how bloody or brutal their ancestors were, people in the rest of the world are proud of their success, of their conquests, of their savage victories over others. And shrug off everything from slavery to human sacrifice. That includes indigenous people. None are ashamed of their ancestors' brutality and slavery. They're proud of them. Only we need to feel shame, to grovel, and make amends for them. It's bullshit. It's the pseudo-intellectual ravings of third-class academics who should be dragged bodily out of schools and universities and tossed into the gutter, never to be allowed back.

A simple way to reduce the number of murders in Canada is to deport anyone who wasn't born here who commits a crime and never let them back. We could also put people who commit acts of violence in prison for long periods of time to discourage them from doing progressively more violent acts. Get rid of Gladue and all that garbage about racial sentencing. You do the crime, you do the time. And I don't care if your daddy abandoned you at birth or your grandma went to residential school or you started doing drugs as a kid. You are what you are and that's what we have to deal with.
