  1. I agree 100% They complain when the government makes public health decisions and complain when the government does not give them something. Boo Hoo, they cannot decide and take their consequences of their decisions.
  2. Why? In my opinion, making it safer and easier does contribute to more deaths because there is no or less consequence to doing it. I am not sure about the abortion analogy.. On the other hand, the deaths are 100% to blame on the drug dealers as they lace the drugs with cheap fentynal and other opiods which are easily made in basements. Should we make it easier to take them and why is a safe place to inject helping? They still stay addicted and even can do it without recourse.
  3. I am so sorry for your loss. For sure pharma was primary cause for many addictions Perdue was closed by the charges against it for distribution and false records of oxy contin but, it is so far beyond that now.. I also agree we are not hard enough on dealers, they should be in jail for attempted murder but IMO, making it easier (safer) to take drugs does also not help.
  4. Health care is different in each province. Problem in ER's is there are far too many people there demanding care for minor problems thus clogging up the entire system.
  5. I disagree. The opiod crisis (overdoses and deaths) today is because it is easy and cheap to make and cheaper than pure heroin or cocaine so it is cut in by the dealers and associates.. Oh and, a lot has changed since the book Dopesick was written and published, let alone dramatized by a TV show. Seems the only thing not affected by supply chain issues is importation of narcotic drugs.
  6. I am quite sure that the opiods on the illegal market are not made by big pharma. Yes, prescribed drugs have caused addictions but, the prescribed were and are useful. Abuse by doctors were a big part of the problem initially. That is long gone now. Thing is that the opiod problem now is that it is mixed into other illegal drugs by the pushers. Government does not pay opiod factories in China and other sources to bring them in.
  7. What is the risk? What is the reward? Risk - hospitalization and other symptoms if not vaccinated? Reward - less or no hospitalization and less or no other symptoms if vaccinated?
  8. Pot is legal but has it caused any deaths? And it certainly has not stopped illegal sales. Well, the drugs are still illegal and there are record opiod overdoses and deaths. The law is not meant to be a counter argument, it is to state a fact. And are you saying if the government sells it to you it will get better?? How are your "harm reduction measures" doing??
  9. Actually, there is already private medicine and in a case I personally know, it is cheaper. My friend needs hip replacement surgery. He has had initial appointment and needs MRI and is on a waiting list for that. Could be a yer. then he will go on a list for surgery and one to 2 year waiting list. He can barely move so, is went to Montreal in April to a private clinic for the replacement. Got the MRI, the diagnosis and will get surgery mid August. 20 grand cost. Is it worth it? To him, being in pain and potentially in pain and immobile for 2 to 3 years, for sure it is worth it.
  10. Really? Is drug use illegal? Is selling drugs illegal? Are they criminals doing criminal things or....? Is allowing legal drug use from illegal drug sellers reducing harm or is it condoning drug use. Fact is opiod deaths are up, waaay up. How much harm reduction is being done ? No old fart knee jerk at all, just observing facts and even your comments. This is your thread and your complaint.
  11. Methinks my "reality" is considerably more current and real than yours but it's OK, you can stay back in the past if it makes you feel better
  12. Under you skin with facts eh? Can't stand it when you get called out eh? Don't like it when the reality hammer smack you eh? Again, I don't assume or pretend, I just observe and comment on those observations. Kathy Newman Ha Ha Ha, good retort, whatever that is supposed to mean. In fact, what is getting old is you and your hanging on to old news, old data, old information, just plain old forgotten issues. Hopefully you will wake up today and not stay in your dreams of yesterday
  13. Just those 2? There are more provinces than just Ontario, in case you didn't know. Gotta move out of your small small circle of knowledge. I don't assume or pretend, I just observe and comment on those observations. BTW, it turns out that during covid, Canadian incomes went up in 2020 amid uptake of pandemic benefits https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/canadian-incomes-went-up-in-2020-amid-uptake-of-pandemic-benefits-census-data/ar-AAZw4e1?ocid=EMMX&cvid=c4e147dcbe3e4c5ea8070c1b546f92e0 Your doom and gloom is unfounded.
  14. You have your head so far down in the sand you are starving your brain of oxygen. You are blaming the feds for things that is not in their preview. Most of the mandates, almost all of them, came from the provinces. Get over it. Everybody is fine now, so fine that there is a shortage of workers across the country. The unemployment rate is "the lowest rate on record since comparable data became available in 1976" . Lots of jobs but no workers. You and a few others are hanging on to long gone short term conditions. Short term pain for long term gain.
  15. Give it up dude. You said "conditions of their employment were changed under government pressure to punish them for making a decision the government didn't approve of" and "there was mandatory vaccination imposed by the government on employers " and I said only to specific sectors. The government (especially the federal government) cannot tell employers to vaccinate their employees, they can only mandate with their own employees.. You are so way off base and you really believe it. Sorry to be in your mindset. Plus, get over it, time has passed and pandemic is ob=ver and only fools like you living in the past care anymore.
  16. What are you talking about???
  17. Aha.... so you admit not all employers were mandated to ensure their employees were vaccinated? Only the federal employees (and provincial) were mandated to get vaccinated by the federal government. Face it dude, your comments were very wrong. https://stlawyers.ca/coronavirus-knowledge-centre/employer-mandatory-vaccinations/ontario/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/vaccination-mandates-employees-rights-1.6142584
  18. You are very very wrong. There were very specific sectors that had impositions but most did not. Those decisions were left up to employers.
  19. There were not. Your statement is an out and out lie. Most employers made the decisions to impose or not.
  20. Conditions of employment were change by government and by employers. Some employers made vaccinations mandatory, others did not. There was no blanket mandatory vaccination law. Back at ya " no amount of semantics games on your part change that fact" "your desire to frame it in a way" to fit your narrative is misleading.
  21. Blame? Blame the people that made using illegal drugs purchased from illegal drug dealers a safe thing to do with no consequences. Neither Trudeau or Biden or Trump or any federal politician has anything to do with it. Blame Provincial and local politicians thinking they are doing a service by letting anyone do drugs. Now, they are even talking about de-criminalizing it.
  22. Another stupid post. BLM violence was in the US, not Canada. No relevance to Canada..
  23. Nope, you are talking to someone that can see through your stupidity.
