  1. Sox, I grew up in Burbaby - it's growing abot 3,000 ppl per year. If there's 1100 new kids it means most of the growth was families. That's a good thing, especially since it's a pretty high income city that can handle growth. Hell, post about Surrey if you want a valid issue with their 17.5% tax increase unless they piiddle away that $90 million that was supposed to be infrastructure
  2. Oh FFS keep up the alarmist BS. Three people died out of 38 million... so it happens all the time. Tiers happen on EXTENDED BENEFITS your employer pays for, if you have a shitty employer you might have to pay more for prescriptions, dental. glasses, etc. Join a union FFS. And the whole point of transfer payments and federal health funding is to prevent different standards province to province. If you live here, you know how it works, you know bloody well there's post Covid burnout, retiring staff and years of under funding behind the problems. And they are solveable problems. not reasons to abandon the system in place. Go ahead name call the pulling out of ass communist, I'd truly rather be exactly that than a suck-up-to-everything-American-you-can pseudo-citizen.
  3. Remember the good old days when Sarah Palin was the lunatic?
  4. This is why I love Canada. We're shitting bricks over fake titties instead of excusing daily school shootings.
  5. They've had ESL in Burnaby schools for decades. They're getting funding for more. This is barely news at all, though it may seem to be for a local website or weekly advertiser paper.
  6. Oh... too 'communist' for you is it? Well no one's stopping you from trotting off to the USA and shelling out from your own pocket. Which you can't, cuz you ain't rich. Another Joe Worker who'll stand up for someone else's right to get wealth and priviledge.
  7. The guy wants a simple answer, not the pissing and moaning of those who'd rather destroy it than fix anything. Wait times got bad during Covid... duhhh, Capt. Obvious. It's more like Germany than the USA. Level of care and how much money you have aren't tied together. You don't pay to go to the doctor, there's none of the co-pay nonsense where you shell out for insurance and they'll go out of their way to cover as little as they can get away with, and none of the 'pre-existing condition' reasons they deny you coverage at all. And often they don't want you to go to the hospital to get a nurse to change a dressing, so they send you home and the nurse comes to your house to do that. It's not like the "take 2 aspirins - if pain continues die" nonsense the GOP would have you believe. More like if you're a billionaire with a pimple on your ass, the old bag lady with cancer goes first. A none of the if you're a veteran or live in the downtown core you get a shittier hospital either.
  8. Stand there and complain to a rumbling volcano if you wish. But Ontario of all places should take your attitude only if it wishes to lose what little of what manufacturing is left.
  9. Yes we know the US medical system is so damn good there's many total mental cases among the general public. Freedumb fighters and communist Chinese...
  10. We're interested in US politics because Canadian politics are boring. And no one dies in US waiting rooms? No one waits for hours to be seen in Emergency? Bullshit. The only reason you even hear about someone dying in a waiting room is because it's a huge news event on the scale of terrorist attack or mass murder here. And as for the waiting horror stories, you won't be waiting if you've been shot, run over or are having a heart attack. On the other hand you might be like me, annoyed because when I broke my foot I had to PAY... a $10 deposit on the crutches... $17 dispensing fee every 3 months for diabetes meds. And your so-called lefty Democrats are too chickenshit to take on the medical insurance and hospital corporations.
  11. Quit with the 'infrastructures not in place' and look out your window. It's going into place as you complain. The only reason I don't own a BEV is because I live way up in the boonies and it's an all day 400 km round trip to specialists, major shopping & decent dining. There are cars than can do that already but I don't like cars. Squishing into one with your head pressed down by the roof, ass dragging on the pavement, passenger pressed against you. Bleaaghh! I have 2 SUVs right now but as I lost my wife last winter one just sits there, didn't even put 1,000 km on it last year. I'll probably sell both and get myself a hybrid SUV in the next year or so.
  12. So how many times do I have to say it? Keep an ICE vehicle for road trips, use an EV to go to work.
  13. 1 - you watched a YouTube and consider it "info". Do you believe those FB ads for $29 electric scooters, $20 brand new laptops and tying 2 electric motors back to back to make free electricity too? Though it's probably somewhat accurate as it's no shame to be bi these days and that would make up most. And it takes a real prude to think identifying as such is sexualizing anyone's 10 year old.
  14. Best and sales numbers don't belong together. Unless you're an HP and F150 fanboy. If you live in the burbs and only need to go to work or shopping gas is far from the beat choice. Wasn't even back in the 1980s when propane conversions were under $3000
  15. Just how do interest rates have anything to do with food prices? Grocers do not borrow to buy from suppliers, they're invoiced. If anyone at all uses credit to buy food, they're either buying more than they can afford or paying cresit cards off on time to gain bonuses. Both are personal choices, noting to do with the Bank of Canada. * notice the way grocers explain away excessive profits to fool people who don't know simple math, "Our margins haven't increased at all". If they buy a loaf of bread for $1 and sell it for $1.25 their margin is 25%. If their cost goes up to $2 and their margin doesn't change at all they sell it for $2.50. They earn 50c instead of 25c -100% more, you pay $2.50 instead of $1.25 - 100% more, double and you have to buy that loaf of bread... it's not a discretionary purchase! And you turn on the new and here inflation is up 6% when you paid double for that necessary loaf of bread. That's why they always mention 'markup' not increasing. To fool people!
  16. He gave the finger to reporters acting like paparazzi, not to Alberta. Though your story fits the usual propaganda.
  17. 40 odd years ago we lived in Burnaby and worked in Langley, so we bought a house in Langley. Within months, both our employers moved the jobs back to Burnaby. If they'd had hybrids then, even with 50 kms of EV range, I don't want to think of how much I would've saved on gas stuck in traffic crossing the bridge twice a day. We'd probably own 1 Hybrid SUV and a BEV if we were in that boat today.
  18. British Columbia is soon to become the first jurisdiction in Canada to make prescription birth control free to its residents. What will be covered? Starting April 1, the province said it will cover the following prescription contraceptives: Oral hormone pills, commonly known as the pill. Subdermal (under-the-skin) injections and implants. Copper and hormonal intrauterine devices, also known as IUDs. Plan B, also known as the morning-after pill. Free prescription contraception will also be made available to men, including trans men. Vasectomies have already been covered for years by B.C. MSP, or the Medical Services Plan. Here's what you need to know
  19. My favourite brand is that ladies product: Vichy - it collaborates with your skin
  20. Ever been in a Tesla? Like riding inside a Macbook. But it's still a car. Look up the sales figures of just cars - compacts, subs, sedans. I bet EVs make up more than their fair share. Bet more F150s sell than traditional cars these days. Nobody lists by % per segment.
  21. Aside from the fact that part of the reason EVs were slow to take off was because they were CARS. Nobody buys those anymore. If you're so budget your looking for sub $20K cars, none of the makers really even wants your business. I wouldn't sell you my 9 year old Wrangler for $20K
  22. You read lots of obscure contrarian bullshit. Not helping does not equal causing. Excessive sugar is the cause.
  23. But the Dept of Sanitation Engineering just announced with 2% certainty it leaked from Mao's mausoleum that's funded by Hilary Clinton! that makes it an alternative fact.
