  1. Freedom of speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction. The problem with hate speech is that it has no real purpose other than genocide.
  2. Not necessarily. In Canada the criminal code has penalties for hate speech. In the u.s. you just get sued. https://www.genolaw.com/nuisance-vs-free-speech-citizen-vs-protester/
  3. And yet already they do it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_free_speech_exceptions Should we allow child porn and threats on the president too then?
  4. What purpose does having that freedom serve other than to offend and anger people?
  5. Not just some groups, all groups. All people. I think the problem you have is that your not a member of a group that has that problem. Ask my classmate in grade school what happened after he called my parents "wops". FYI wop is a derogatory term meaning without papers.
  6. So you're saying its wrong to categorize people based on sexuality but its ok to categorize people based on religion and skin colour? ? No one is asking for any extra rights, the argument you were presenting was the right to hurl insults at people freely.
  7. Lol groups have no rights eh? I guess that whole women's movement was a crock then. Better they stay in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant and leave all the important decisions like voting to us men. Hows life as a neanderthal going? ?
  8. The right to use hate speech infringes on the targeted groups rights, or do you not see that? To quote the u.s., "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
  9. Seems that mess in Charlottesville proves otherwise, but thats o.k., keep living in your fantasy world.
  10. I guess thats why the u.s. has so very little problems with riots and such.... Oh wait, thats Canada ?
  11. That's just their way, as is many people about contextual situations. For example I have a bro and sis. We would joke around with each other and call each other names but if an outsider said that to one of us they'd better be fast on their feet.
  12. I dare you to call the next black person you see on the street a n******. ?
  13. Section 319(1): Publicly inciting hatred—makes it an offence to communicate statements in a public place which incite hatred against an identifiable group where it is likely to lead to a breach of the peace. The Crown prosecutor can proceed either by indictment or by summary process. Pretty sure that is usually easy to prove, what with cameras everywhere nowadays
  14. The rights and freedoms in the Charter are not absolute. They can be limited to protect other rights or important national values. For example, freedom of expression may be limited by laws against hate propaganda or child pornography. I don't think Canada wants the same national values as the Germans during the 40's. You could find that ideology in some parts of the southern u.s.
  15. In some cases speech that isn't hateful can lead to violence, yes, but hate speech is more likely to lead to violence. Just as cars may lead to accidents but we have speed limits and such to reduce the frequency. And of course there are types of cars that are not permitted on the road.
  16. According to the global firepower rankings russia is not that far behind the u.s. An attack on china would definitely draw in russia and the rest of the world would follow.... that is why the Michaels and meng are home now.
  17. R.I.P Walter ?

The real question is, when is Uncle Joe gonna do something about all this systemic racism.

  18. Except for the pipe bombs they found, but yeah, technically those aren't classified as arms.
  19. That may be a problem since even they don't know for sure... https://www.defenseone.com/threats/2020/11/outgoing-syria-envoy-admits-hiding-us-troop-numbers-praises-trumps-mideast-record/170012/ But I did stumble across this: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2017/08/22/u-s-active-duty-military-presence-overseas-is-at-its-smallest-in-decades/ So basically trump was trying to ride Obama's coat tails. Again.
  20. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/11/06/donald-trump-approves-mission-return-us-troops-syria-secure/ The troops trump pulled out of Syria didn't go very far btw, just relocated to Iraq for a brief "holiday".
