Wow, the Tories are having a field day with the revelation of the Valeriote robo-calls. I mean, we all knew they would, but Pierre Pollieve didn't even pretend to answer Turmel's opening question

Guelph, Grimsby, leadnow.ca and Robocalls
UofGPolitico replied to a topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I still think Leadnow is the main source of the 31,000 "contacts" EC received in the days after the break of the scandal. Their links to advocacy groups on the left in both Canada and the USA also go a long way in discrediting their motives here. -
How noble of them. This is good. The sooner they know who did them in Guelph, the sooner they can focus on determining the legitimacy of other reports in other ridings and the various connections between all of them.

Source?

And yet, he wanted a cabinet post in Harper's government. Forgive me if I doubt his sincerity in his attacks on the right.

Robocall protests to be held Canada-wide
UofGPolitico replied to capricorn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's interesting considering Jack Harris and Ryan Cleary are MPs there, the former being one of the most high profile caucus members. -
Last leadership debate today. Expect another assault-by-committee on Mulcair.

Toews is a shitty politician, yes. Me saying Volpe is too in no way is me saying he was worse than Toews. LOL.
-
All I said was one of lol. You brought Clement and Toews in. In response to the Toews example, that is in his personal, not political life.
-
Just check out his wikipedia page. All allegations, some of which proved true, are sourced. He is the last one to be preaching on "unfairness"
-
And also, forgive me if I don't take out much sympathy on Volpe. Probably one of the shiftiest politicians this country has had in the last 25 years. Joe Oliver has a shifty way about him too. I guess the voters of Eglington-Lawrence like to keep things interesting

close to 70000 Federal Public Sector jobs on the block
UofGPolitico replied to MACKER's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Still he should provide a source either way. -
The Volpe thing? Ballot stuffing that was authorized by E.C. They are on the hook for that one.
-
To sum it all up, our politics are being revealed to be quite dirty, unethical and in some cases, illegal.
-
Awww, thanks for not making me left out then.

No, case is not closed. They misrepresented themselves. The call did not identify as being from a Liberal campaign. I said in my post, each case is not on the same level, but it does take a shot as Liberal credibility JUST a tad. You cannot have it both ways.

close to 70000 Federal Public Sector jobs on the block
UofGPolitico replied to MACKER's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Where is your source for both of your claims in this post? -
Impersonating EC is obviously more serious than what Frank and his team did, but there is one difference here. We have YET to see actual EVIDENCE that the Burke campaign officially was behind the EC calls. We now have an admission from Valeriote that his camp put out misleading calls.

Preston Manning says that the Harper Government is bad
UofGPolitico replied to MACKER's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Topic title is misleading. Original poster is reading into Preston Manning's comments to fit his or her agenda. Should be against the rules, my guess is that it is. -
He is the all knowing and honest one. He is a snake. I've been told he has no use for his own constituents if they are not of the same political strife as he is. He is a lot more visible at least than our previous Liberal MP was, but he is not worthy of the holier than thou attitude and finger pointing he showcases on national television. This story just proves my point.
-
While what the Liberals have alleged to have done in Guelph isn't in the same league as impersonating EC, they still misrepresented themselves and kind of shoots them in the foot, credibility wise, in launching attacks on the CPC which have been alleged to have engaged in misrepresentation as well. It appears it was a concerted effort on behalf of the Liberal campaign in Guelph to not tie themselves to the calls. Valeriote now looks like a hypocrite.
-
Harper saw what a public inquiry did to Paul Martin. He would prefer, I am sure, to not suffer the same fate. The only way a public inquiry happens if EC and the RCMP can conclusively make the argument that the national campaign and people at the top of the CPC were somehow involved in this.

March 23-25.

It can be spun a number of ways that is for sure. Ipsos Reid though always inflates Conservative numbers, so I'd be less likely to trust these numbers. Nanos has proven to be the most accurate over the last decade.
-
The 40% who chose not to exercise their democratic right should not be in the equation. 26% of Canadians in the last election yes, voted Conservative. You have no idea how many of the 40% who did not vote subscribe to Conservative values. You're criticizing Preston Manning, who I am sorry, but will have much more resources at his disposal than you to make his assertion that Canadians are moving to the right. Basically what he is saying is that more and more people are subscribing to conservative values, but not necessarily voting for the Conservative Party. I've met many people in my life who do in fact possess very conservative values, but do not vote for Harper simply because he is "creepy" or for some other superficial reason.
