  1. Okay you’re saying some things that reveal the problem and point to solutions: 1. Deregulate 2. We already pay for health, education, higher education, and a lot of infrastructure for Indigenous who don’t pay taxes and are guaranteed free land as our “treaty partners”. The continued attempts to make Canadians alive today pay “reparations” to people alive today who weren’t around when “unfair deals” were struck by past generations have to be stopped. Many injustices happened hundreds of years ago. Groups lost territories, including to other Indigenous. It’s time to stop preferential treatment for certain groups. We appear to be stuck with the Indian Act because Indigenous don’t want to change it. Who wants to give up free stuff? Meanwhile life gets harder for taxpayers. Will the Conservatives restore prosperity and higher living standards? I don’t count on it but they can’t be worse than this profligate government. Clearly the Americans are growing their economy, productivity and wages better than we are, so it’s doable.
  2. It illustrates that the theory that increasing debt would grow the economy and maintain the same debt to GDP ratio has been totally debunked. The budget will NOT balance itself. What’s more, this massively increased debt load under the Liberals has put us in a position where our debt payments have increased significantly and we have much less room for spending on the social programs that the NDP and Liberals love. The old adage, “Don’t kill the goose that lays the golden egg”, is very apt right now. Kill economic activity and individual discretionary spending and all government spending will have to be cut. This will be a very hard situation for a government that only knows how to bribe citizens with taxpayer money and borrowed money. It’s 1993 all over again, except now it’s the Liberals and NDP who have dug a deep debt hole. Hopefully the Conservatives will find a way to cut spending AND red tape AND taxes at the same time. Maybe it means we won’t be funding Liberal eugenics programs like abortions in Africa or assisted suicide for the mentally ill. The problem is that you have an overpaid political class who are so disconnected from the way ordinary people live. This group of Laurentian elites don’t understand or care about the bread and butter struggles average working Canadians face. They are too busy booking itinerary to overseas conferences where they sincerely think they can solve the world’s problems with other out of touch elites. They think that by adding to citizens’ costs with regulations and carbon taxes that they are helping them. After all, what do these rough ignorant workers know? I fly by private jet and stay in spa boutique hotels. I must be doing something right. Of course it’s all at public expense. That’s the current regime.
  3. Exactly. Canada was on a great trajectory before Trudeau’s Liberals took office. We had surpluses, a strong dollar, rising incomes for working people… All our current government does is spend more taxpayer money or borrow more money at our expense so they can make funding announcements. Most of these spending programs are of dubious value. I’m sick of this government using our money to control how we live and think. Freedom and opportunity is about self-determination, not imposing endless state programs that are substandard and unwanted by many.
  4. You really want living standards to drop for Canadians, huh? That’s exactly what carbon taxes are doing, making life more expensive. You reveal your secret desire to make people live a feudal existence. It’s like some posters’ secret wish to see billions die so the planet is pure for their personal enjoyment. I hope people figure out just how dumb and destructive these radical leftists running our government are. People are going to feel this carbon tax rise, millions of people, not just the poor but the middle class and rich that you and Herbie hate. At least for now they all get to vote.
  5. You don’t think the 13 percent tax we already pay in basic consumption tax isn’t enough? Get real. Do you understand that Canada is already a high tax jurisdiction? Someone has to pay for your assisted suicide after all.
  6. How about stop taxing people so much, so they can keep more of what they earn? Why are you hell bent on making Canada more communist than it already is? Exorbitant taxation is theft.
  7. No, I’m not stupid. I’ll never support paying existence taxes on heating, fuel, or other necessities. For what and for whom? To save the planet? lol. As for other redistribution schemes, Canada has many already. Sure, we could have those for above certain thresholds of wealth, but remember that these wealthy people are the ones best positioned to leave the country and take their money, business, and talent elsewhere.
  8. Your answer is to raise taxes on working people to pay for more government programs. How about letting people keep more of their earnings to spend it on what they value? That’s what happens in free market democracies.
  9. What an extortionate scam carbon taxes are. Destroy businesses and living standards without making a significant dent in emissions. Only a brainwashed disempowered population would accept this. Well the writing is on the wall for Canada. Why would any major investors take on our regulations and taxes? Why come here when you can go elsewhere? Of course the Liberals try to mask the tepid growth and falling living standards with mass immigration that increases inflation and emissions. How can anyone with a brain take this government seriously? The desperate will continue to come to Canada because they’re desperate. Those with the means to leave and live in a jurisdiction with higher living standards will do so, and the vicious circle will continue. Poilievre, if the conservative-fearing brainwashed public have the good sense to vote for him, will need a majority government and the stamina of a marathon champion to undo the mess made over the past 8 years.
  10. In the end the carbon tax is an extreme anti-growth policy because it hammers businesses and consumers with added costs. It raises the cost of living significantly in an already inflationary high cost of living society. Biden wouldn’t dream of imposing carbon taxes on Americans. Canadians are suckers. Oh, and our emissions will continue to rise under this scheme as we get poorer. In fact, the carbon tax should be renamed the impoverishment tax. Oh yeah, so why haven’t the Dems introduced carbon taxes in the US?
  11. The only fix is to shrink our bloated government, scrap all the fluffy programs supporting special interest groups, deregulate, scrap carbon taxes and other ideological communist redistribution schemes. Do I think any of this will happen? Not really. Not enough. Canadians are afraid to say what they think because they’ve been told that doing so is dangerous or “alt right.” They’re also used to letting government decide what to do with their earnings and what they deserve, which is basically more second rate healthcare and government programs. I just want to try to get my kids out of Canada.
  12. In a week’s time the cost of fuel will be more than double what Americans pay. People won’t forget what this government did to its people to “save the planet” and keep us “safe.” What a total disaster. Revolutions happen over this kind of fleecing.
  13. That’s how tyranny gets entrenched, when facts are banned for being construed as hateful.
  14. It’s a twisted country that won’t heal or treat sick people properly but will mutilate or kill them for ever-expanding reasons.
  15. And look what comes out as we talked about the feeling that Canada has declined: https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/canada-slips-to-15th-place-in-annual-world-happiness-report-1.6815318?autoPlay=true
  16. It’s also that universities have stopped teaching their disciplines and are putting radical left ideology before all other considerations. They’re churning out fragile spoon fed babies who can’t handle reality and who are scared of having and expressing opinions in case they offend other fragile people.
  17. I’ve never been one to look back to “the good ol’ days” because you could always point to life in the past being harder or worse overall for most people, but I honestly think life was better in Canada 10 years ago than it is today.
  18. What do we need healthcare for? Can’t health problems be solved with assisted suicide? Priorities people! We’ve got sex changes and abortions to pay for in Africa!
  19. Read this plum of an account of ninnies spoon-feeding and bubble-wrapping adults in a Canadian university: https://nationalpost.com/opinion/i-am-a-professor-at-u-of-t-and-i-was-sanctioned-for-encouraging-debate/wcm/93fbb3ef-d6af-4005-9c20-547534f6e026/amp/
  20. Yup And the next Marxist theft and redistribution event is April 1, the massive carbon tax hike. It’s going to hurt so many people. This next round of Marxist fleecing may really be the final nail in the coffin for the climate fascists. One only has to drive across the border to see the difference in cost, even after exchanging our weak currency that was worth more than the US dollar under Harper. I’d like to believe that Poilievre can clean up this mess, but the mess is so wide and deep that it’s structural. Canada has become an expensive, overtaxing, less free country, with a bloated overbearing government that has become an international laughingstock. Not even American Democrats think we’re doing it right. Canadians have been fed such a steady diet of nonsense about racism and colonialism and the scary Americans in a country, Canada, that has redistributed more wealth from those who earn it to those who don’t than just about any country that still calls itself capitalist. Over-regulated, expensive, with an overbearing government of control freaks who want to take more of your money to prop themselves up and create more schemes that benefit the few at the expense of the majority. Your ability to question and oppose this ongoing disaster is hampered by greater restrictions on speech. Even the socialist healthcare that we used to take pride in has declined and resorts to increased assisted suicide and enabling hard drug use. That which is unhealthy is supported, such as suicide, drug use, and rampant infertility schemes (free birth control and unlimited abortion). Meanwhile people can’t afford to buy homes or have kids because taxes and cost of living have skyrocketed. Honestly if I could move my kids to the US I would. I hold a British passport, but they’re facing many similar problems.
  21. In Canada, presenting scientific evidence that gender activists and their supporters in government and in courts don’t like can lead to charges and job loss. People in professions can be decertified by their colleges for not giving into pseudoscientific pressures and policies.
  22. Yes Canada is going Marxist. It’s always been left of the US, but the current government thinks that taking money from the people who made it and giving it to people who didn’t makes them good, but it’s actually theft in the Marxist collectivist sense. It’s not only morally hazardous because it gives people a false sense of the work required to earn a living, it also allows government to take credit for doing something that has nothing to do with them: The government didn’t earn it and it’s not theirs to give. Canadians have gotten used to getting these announcements: cheap daycare (for some), free dental care (for some), free pharmaceuticals (for some). Who are the “some” getting these programs? Not the people who paid for them. Canadians are addicted to overspending and being taken care of like babies. It’s called the welfare nanny state. Of course the quality of the healthcare and most other programs is weak, yet the government keeps adding new ones without fixing the problems with existing programs. What do they care? If they can score enough votes to get reelected at least once, it’s gold-plated pension time. Canada has an out of control bureaucracy that has almost doubled in size under Trudeau, yet they can’t issue passports or procure for the military. I won’t even get into the anti-free speech legislation, unnecessary use of the Emergencies Act, freezing of the bank accounts of protesters, and ridiculously draconian lockdowns, restrictions, and mandates that made travel a nightmare and had horrible outcomes for depression, alcoholism, businesses, and education during the pandemic. There’s also the DEI attempt make some identity groups the oppressors (owners of the means of production and exploiters in the Marxist sense) and other identity groups the oppressed (exploited workers in the Marxist sense). This is reflected in Critical Race Theory (founded by Dereck Bell, derivative of the Frankfurt School). The Liberal-NDP’s are either devout cultural Marxists (even if they’re mostly too ignorant to know it) or they’re overrun by cultural Marxist activists. They’ve caved into these forces out of fear of cancellation. I actually can’t believe that this government dares to hold off on an election with so much anger in the country that will only get worse the longer they wait. I guess they’re holding on as long as they can. We don’t even have protection of private property written into our constitution. I don’t see many advantages for Canada over the US anymore. I see a lot more disadvantages.
  23. Japan’s system was reworked by the Yanks, but because Japan has so little immigration, it has maintained its culture better than most countries. Of course with its negative birth rate Japan will have to turn to immigration or continue to accept tepid growth or deflation. The question for Japan is whether she can maintain herself successfully as its population shrinks (if demographic and political trends there continue)? If they can, then perhaps countries like Canada can thrive with low immigration and tepid growth, which would make the climate fascists happy.
  24. I’m not wasting more time on you. You have too much to learn. I will say that your views illustrate why we’re in these culture wars. God help us if the kids are let into the control room. Actually it’s already happened.
