  1. Not all Muslims are conservative ideologues intent on using their religion to justify the repression of others.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamism

With Christianity the words "Evangelical" or "Fundamentalist" are used to describe the same type of people. It is necessary to have to different words because it allows people to direct comments/criticisms at the Islamists that are causing the problems instead of tarring all Muslims with the same brush.

Islam has certain rules, you are a Muslim if you follow the rules and you are not a Muslim if you dont follow the rules. So we cant seperate Muslims in two groups as "the ones with conservative ideologues with the intent of using it on others as a reason for repression" and "the ones who do not do such a thing". One of them or noone of them are Muslims of these two groups, we cant say both are Muslims because both claims following the same rules. Then how come two groups performs different actions ?

"Islamist" means "a person who follows political Islam". Islamist doesn't mean "Muslims". Islamism is a political ideology, where law and policy stems from scripture and religious belief.

Muslim = "the person who follows Islamic rules in his/her life"

Islamist = "the person who follows political Islam"

Political Islam = "appliying Islamic rules in politics"

So in this case, all Muslims are "Political Islamist". (we dont have such sayings, these are western invented names about us and quite illogical names)

As a result, Islamist is a nonsense term, we cant seperate Muslims into groups.

Just wanted to say welcome to the forums and I hope you'll stick around and give us insight from your own experience.

    Hey thank you.

I've been trying to tell these people the same thing, but many of them insist that it's not so.

Logic does not vary from person to person. People use their logic or reject to use their logic.

  2. The time when Turkey started going downhill was the day Erdogan got elected. He's got Trump's narcissism and arrogance and Putin's honesty and integrity.

He restarted the war with his Kurdish minority after the Kurdish HDP took away so many votes in the election that Erdogan's party failed to win a majority. Think about the ruthlessness of that. He restarted the war with the Kurds, resulting in hundreds of deaths, so he could profit politically, get his majority, and rewrite the constitution to make himself all powerful.

This reminds me of how Putin restarted the war with Chechnya for the same purpose. It worked in both cases, too.

Erdogan is in the process of eliminating the last traces of democracy in Turkey, having already pretty much eliminated all free press (again, must like Putin did in Russia) and is weeding out from the military, police, judiciary, schools and public service anyone he suspects isn't loyal to his Islamist party. The corruption in Turkey is rising, and while they don't have the oil wealth of Russia Erdogan and his friends are making out like bandits. Erodgoan now lives in a new thousand room palace courtesy of the Turkish taxpayer, and thinks of himself as a sultan. Meanwhile Turkey's secular nature is being eroded so that it can be turned into another backwards Islamist state.

Are you Turk ? Your post is horrible. Appearently Western media is quite succesfull about washing Western people's brains.

  3. In Turkey, it’s the Islamists vs the secularists.

What does "Islamist" mean ? I dont understand that. We are just Muslims. There is no any other names for us.

"Secularism" is also a kind of religion, its a belief. Seculars believe in that people should be able to put the rules independently from their "religious" believes. These people generally dont believe in God or they dont care so much despite they have some weak symptoms of faith.
