  1. Still counting the votes for the Ontario Progressive Conservatives. The scuttlebutt is that Doug Ford won, but there are 1300 ballots in dispute.

Did anyone ever get NK to say on record that they'd be willing to de-nuclearize?

Duh, did you ever hear about the Agreed Framework between the United States of America and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea? It was signed on October 21, 1994,  with the objective of freezing and replacement of North Korea's indigenous nuclear power plant program with more nuclear proliferation resistant light water reactor power plants, and the step-by-step normalization of relations between the U.S. and the DPRK. I would say a signed agreement Trumps Trump's statement by a bizillion miles, but then that is just me. Keep on shilling for Trump, it looks good on you.

  3. NASA relies on Canadian units of measure as demonstrated in the recent Space|X launch. Will Trump demand that NASA use miles and mph? I am sure his base will get behind that initiative.

Yes, I would like to see Canada increase its public funding of science in general including space. I don't think however rocketry is something we need to invest heavily in. There are a few commercial companies already, and how long before China and India start offering space taxi services as well. Building a space telescope and subcontracting out the transportation would be a far better investment for example. I'm not all that keen on Canada getting into the spy satellite business, so I don't think we need to worry about having the launches take place elsewhere.

Then Canadians who want careers in space programs will continue to leave for countries that do.  Canada will be left behind.

In my view until, the  USA, has 3 parties, the country will always be what it is and has been, going down the tubes with corruption, although Trump is trying to change to for the better, but just like Kennedy, he doesn't know who for him or against him. The voters need to start showing DC, u screw around us, we'll vote against and u won't have a party to run!

Hard to say if those deficits would have been better under Clinton, but the economy is apparently going great, with all due credit to the current administration. The tax cut will help to attract more business to come back to America, a move which I think is very smart. If only we had a Trump here in Canada, not this...

Yes, good point about the tax cuts. The deficits will grow exponentially.

  6. Is there some new progressive definition of "couple", I am unaware of. This has happened to me several times in recent weeks, and again today when I walked into the bank and requested a couple of rolls of quarters. The teller asked me if I meant two, is there something else I could mean?

  10. Patrick Brown can't catch a break. While he was on stage this weekend saying: “Under Kathleen Wynne and the Ontario Liberal Party, political corruption has flourished, they’ve been the subject of multiple police investigations — in some cases it even led to criminal charges.”, the police were investigating investigating Conservative officials in connection with his party’s May 7 candidate election in the riding of Hamilton West—Ancaster—Dundas.

  13. The effective corporate tax rate in Canada could double and still it would be lower than in the US.

    1. Accountability Now

      Accountability Now

How do you figure this to be true? The effective tax rate in the US is 27%. Canada's is roughly the same.

    2. ?Impact

      ?Impact

That is according to a report from the Congressional Budget Office. I went to their website yesterday looking for the TrumpCare report and also found one on corporate taxes. It lists the effective tax rate in the US at 18.6%, and Canada at 8.5%. Yes, there are all those higher fake rates that people like to quote, but when you look at what is actually paid it is significantly lower.

    3. Accountability Now

      Accountability Now

But this isn't what is actuallly paid....it's a statistical model created by the CBO for the attempt to compare. Look at Appendix B as they show how these sensitive factors greatly affect the overall rates. In one of the cases Canada and the US had negative tax rates.

The only reason terrorists exist is because we bomb their countries (or so I hear), so if we spend many billions of dollars on warships we won't have as much money to bomb their countries so there will be less terrorists.
