If one commits a violent crime (mandatory minimum sentences are only associated with violent crime, rape, murder) and a judge doesn't think a jail sentence is necessary, then that judge should be impeached. Legislators, who are voted into office my the Canadian people, writing legislation making a minimum prison sentence for violent criminals mandatory does not equal "precious" freedoms slipping away. Interrogators will have access to a terrorists background, and all the inelligence assocated with him.
