I would ask you the same question--do you think a high enough death rate would justify lockdowns even though they limit our basic rights? But unlike goddess, you never met a tough question you were willing to answer honestly. So I won't bother.
No, not for an extended period of time. Perhaps for the initial onset to gain more of an understanding of the virus.

I’ve really had enough of the single variable thinkers aka Branch Covidians.

Is that a long, convoluted, "yes, I would be in favour of lockdowns if the death rate were high"?
The main purpose of lockdowns is to spread out hospitalizations and deaths over a wider period of time. It’s not to save lives. You’re still under that false impression. Regardless,
Johns Hopkins Study: Lockdowns Had ‘Little To No Effect On COVID-19 Mortality’ But Had ‘Devastating’ Effects On Society.

The truckers are having their convoy, no one is violating their civil rights and freedoms. In free countries, everyone gets an opinion, not just truckers. Polls give an idea what the majority thinks, that's all.
Polls just reflect the irrational fear that has been successfully pushed into the heads of many Canadians by the mainstream media. As has already been pointed out, a majority of Canadians have supported some very unsavoury policies in the past, also based on irrational fear.

Again...SO WHAT ?
A "majority of Canadians" also supported the mandatory internment of Japanese-Canadians during WW2.
What part of this tyranny by the majority do you not understand ?
Covid has made them all irrational authoritarian fascists. It’s a sickness worse then covid at this point. Even worse is they don’t even recognize their insidious behaviour. They actually think it’s noble.

Lost the popular vote in the last two elections.

Building back better seems like spending a shit ton of money on the usual "important" issues we've been spending a shit ton of money on for decades.

They're both viruses...in the way that giraffes and humans are both mammals.
Very very few people are under this delusion. Too many however are under the impression that even if Covid isn't smallpox it's still just the flu.
It happens all the time, this is no exaggeration or stretch, just look around.
It’s the flu for 99.8% of Canadians.

Clearly it's insane that's why it was such a spectacle on the global stage. It didn't even need to succeed.
Yes, much like the spectacle of the riots in the spring and summer of 2020. Regardless, how would it succeed? Please explain in detail. Is the military automatically required to stand down if the capital building is occupied? Are the election results certified by each state automatically nullified if the capital building is occupied? Please explain.

The claim that they were unarmed seems incorrect given the charges given to one of the Sedition Poppas yesterday...
Nobody that went inside the capital building was armed. You really should read the details of the charges if you’re going to post about it. It’s important.

So it's only sedition if it succeeds?
No, it’s only sedition if it’s actually sedition. I don’t know what you mean by succeeds. How was a riot going to succeed in overthrowing the government? Please explain in detail. Walking illegally inside of the capital building isn’t sedition. I feel sorry for everyone that’s been brainwashed by the mainstream media. There is no way election results can overturned by a riot. There is no way a government can be overthrown by a riot. This is insanity.

It would certainly stand out as shockingly if it had succeeded. As it was it definitely got the entire planet's attention and now its waiting to see what happens next.
Is this comment a joke? If it’s sarcasm I apologize. But a riot can’t succeed in overthrowing a government. Especially 300 unarmed people against a country with the largest military in the world. Stop sniffing glue.

Well, today the number of people in Ontario ICUs went down, for the first time in probably a month. Hopefully it’s the beginning of a trend.

The anti vaxxers are making a strong argument against freedom. When some one like me with an arts degree in history can tell a person with post graduate degrees in medicine and immunology and years of experience, how they are wrong and I am right because I read it on the internet, there comes a point when, if I am too stupid to follow their advice, I have shut up and do what I'm told.
If you don't want to pay the tax, excersize your right to get the vaccine free of charge. It doesn't hurt, it is free, and it is safe. It is no big deal. A billion people have done the right thing with no issues.
That’s how I feel about the fatty tax. Exercise your right to lose weight, or pay the tax baby! Fatty tax! Fatty tax! Fatty tax!

The ICU numbers keep going up though.
We can hope and pray that we're close to a peak on these numbers.
AND that staffing shortages will work themselves out.
The UK seems on the downside of their peak already. Our cases are going down too, but testing has been limited.
I suspect that we are either at the peak, or we should get to it within the next 5-7 days. Cases seem to trending down the last 7+ days, but it will probably be another week before hospitalizations and ICUs start to as well.

Quebec has been always ahead of other provinces. This time too, a Canadian first, taxing the unvaccinated claiming that the 10% minority are taking up 50% of hospital beds and more than 50% of ICUs so if they choose not to vaccinate (without a medical reason or exemption) then They have to pay higher tax to cover the extra cost on Health Care. This tax is similar to Federal taxes on Tobacco for example and has been around for many years and the logic accepted by society for many years is that since smokers are sicker in the long term requiring more health care, then they will have to pay more taxes on these products.

Heart disease kills three times as many Canadians as covid every year. When’s the fatty tax being introduced?

The data is out. 46% of hospitalizations in Ontario are with covid not because of covid. That’s kind of a big deal isn’t it? And so far, it’s 17% non-covid in ICUs vs 83% because of covid.
-
I tend to have more sympathy for the selfish characterization of unvaccinated unhealthy people. They want to have their cake and eat it too, pun intended. If you live a very unhealthy lifestyle you should probably get vaccinated. If you lead a healthy lifestyle, you haven’t been, nor will you be a burden on the health care system. The science shows us that.

If the government, provincial or federal, mandate vaccines, I hope they get the shit sued out of them. As time goes on, new side effects are discovered. Remember that the emergency authorization use of the vaccines skipped the normal years long trials. The government gave the pharmaceutical companies full legal immunity, but the government themselves can still be held liable.

I am fully vaccinated with a booster. It's you that made the selfish comment that it's not about trying to prevent people in their 70s or 80s from dying. What make you so special that your life is worth more than people in their 70s or 80s?
My life isn’t worth anymore than somebody else’s. But I’m not asking anyone to destroy their lives so that I can feel safer. The average age of a covid death in Ontario is 83. That’s older than life expectancy.

Who is filling up the most hospital beds CITIZEN_2015?
There is 1433 vaccinated in hospital beds
There is 560 unvaccinated in hospital beds
Vaccinated patients take 2.5 x more hospital beds than unvaccinated.
https://covid-19.ontario.ca/data/hospitalizations#vaccine-status-data
Your entire argument hinges on beds taken, with this idea than we should look to vaccine status as a point to blame. I would rather look to the people in charge, who get paid and who have responsibility to maintain the hospital.
They’ll flip to percentages now. ?

No. Shutting things down isn’t for limiting deaths. You’re still operating on that false narrative.
