  1. The real issue is this case is whether a woman is free to abort the fetus regardless of the reason for the abortion. In this case the reason is economic. Mikedavid, you are trying to incite racism and prejudice by making this an "immigrant" issue. It is not. In my view, her body, her choice for whatever her reasons are. It is an interesting question on if society should even intefere to prevent gender (or any genetic) selection.
  2. Maybe, maybe not. The price of housing is driven by many factors. For example an influx of wealthy immigrants from HK drove up the price of housing in Toronto in the 80s. There is an increasing urban population and a fixed amount of land. In addition, people have been encouraged to invest in the largest house they can afford. The cost of construction material and labour has skyrocketed. Low interest rates, increase affordibilty and drive up house ownership demand. All of these and more influence the price of housing, not just a single factor and it would be impossible to predict what the prices would be if only a single factor were changed. I do agree however, that there is no going back. Now that two-income household is the norm and is accepted it will not revert back. I used gold because it was your suggestion that such a comparison was more valid. In any case your comparison of gold prices, compares gold at its speculative peak to today. To see if has held its value you need to compare its moving average over time.
  3. md, I kind of knew that already, and looking at your posts I'm not surprised. My responses to you would be no different than my responses to him.
  4. Your original allegation was that a carrier would deny to pay a claim which was legimitately covered. You have been unable to provide evidence of that for dental care. I agree that no organizaton will pay what is not specificly covered. This is true for public and private. (for example in Ontario the liberals de-listed physio and will deny paying for it). It is up to you to purchase the most comphrensive policy you need. Of course not, why should you have to worry about the cost when the taxpayer foots the bill. Do you understand one of the reasons why healthcare cost are skyrocketing? The solution is simple. Buy extra coverage. You might be able to find such an insurer but no doubt they would charge you a higher premium. See insurers learnt long ago that if you didn't have an incentive to curb costs you wouldn't. No I think you would be free to purchase as complete coverage as you wish so long as you are willing to pay the premium. If you want the "all you can eat lobster buffet" coverage plan, you should be willing to pay the premium. Absolutely. Why should the taxpayer be stuck with 100% of the bill and you the main beneficiary off scott free. If you want unlimited coverage pay the premium. Taxpayers don't owe you imdemnification against bankrupcy. Abolutely. People who can't afford it get the minimium. People who are starving because they can't support themselves shouldn't get fed steak and lobster on the taxpayer's dime. I don't expect you would, because it is easier on your pocketbook to let other taxpayers subsidize healthcare.
  5. Do you have any evidence of this happening? Do you mean "what the insurance industry is willing to pay for" or "what your dental insurance covers you for"? I have never ever experienced dental insurance denying to pay some procedure I was legimitatly covered for. Nor am I aware of such a situation. So since you've made the allegation, provide some evidence. So you have to pay part of the bill. So what? Afterall you get the biggest benefit from the procdure. Expensive healthcare is rationed no matter whch system you use. The fact that you have to pay part of the cost also gives you a financial stake in procedure. Once you have a financial stake it serves its purpose to force you to make more prudent decisions and choices for your healthcare. I'd be ok with a very basic "welfare" type policy for those who couldn't pay the insurance premium.
  6. Which foreigner are you referring to? What evidence are you looking for, evidece that I'm amused or evidence that I don't have a doubt? Would you like the government to do a referendum to find that out? "adversely" is a matter of perspective. Personally I don't don't have any problem with the diversity I see all around in Canada and I see it as a positive influence. BTW, I'm not sure it i the ethnic immigrant population who is uncomfortable. I rather suspect that it is a few bigots who are uncomfortable. As much as I would like input on many governmental policies, the government is under no obligation to ask me except at election time. Since the Charter was brought in, I know of no party which has achived any success running on a platform to remove or amend the Charter. The tangible evidence is from third parties. Evidence you reject as biased or based upon collusion, without even showing that this bias exist. Tell me, which race am I bigoted against? Numeous times I have stated that the Majority of White Christians are not racist or bigoted. It is only a select few which are. Your own statements prove my point. Ah yes, the conspiracy gets wider. So now the government has conspired with ABC news to keep the "real truth" hidden. LOL. I suppose it has had to widen the conspiracy to all the outlets which resported the same story, right?
  7. Why restrict it? Are you saying only White English-speaking Christians don't get along with ethnics? Start with Singapore.
  8. Actually many of the billing and claims annoyances have been resolved. Many dentists submit a claim directly to your insurance provider, so you are reimbursed directly to your bank account. But, yes you usually will have to pay a small portion out of your own pocket. Since you agree that you get quality and excellent service, how is it that dentalcare doesn't suffer all the drawbacks you ascribe to the "profit" motve?
  9. You seem to believe that the only way for a society to peacefully exist is to have one dominant culture which by force of law forces other cultures to adapt to its cultural norms. There are various examples around the world of different cultures co-existing peacefully and harmoniously.
  10. stevoh, have you had the opportunity to get dental care in Canada? Would you say the dental care system works well?
  11. "destabilizing the country due the actions of religious worship"??? Are you for real? You should probably be more worred about the athiests and agnostics like myself, who are pretty adamant about keeping church separated from state.
  12. I find it amusing that you think you speak for all Canadians outside of Quebec. Tell me, do these other Canadians know that you are their spokesman? If they did I have no doubt they would disavow you. Ah I get it, you wouldn't lynch me before since you didn't feel threatned, but you would today because you feel under threat. right? So you are saying that you would believe evidence coming from a "totalitarian government who manipulates Canadian society", but you won't believe 3rd party sources? No, my dear Leafless, though I do sympathize for immigrants who have to endure the intolerance you display. As far as kicking the whites out, no not at all. I KNOW that most white Canadians is are not bigoted, nor racist and welcome the diversity. As far as the small few racists who seem to have opinions and attitudes which match your own, the best thing to do is to expose their arguments for the hollow falsifications they are. I suppose the ones who come to visit are staying away due to the high Canadian dollar. It didn't seem to deter those Americans who wanted to move here though. 2006 was a record year for immigrations from the US. The Number of Americans Moving to Canada in 2006 Hit a 30-Year High
  13. And I think that Government intrusion into dictating content is wrong. Your argument presumes that the government can dictate content as a condition of allowing use of the airwaves, much like a landlord can dictate conditions to a renter. My point is that it can only dictate conditions which are reasonable (eg restrict the brodast of adult content). It should not be able to impose unreasonable restrictions any more than a landlord should be able to dictate who the tenant can invite as guests. Forcing unwanted content is an unreasonable condition on the use of the airways, IMO.
  14. Here are some more meaningful numbers so you can compare: S311-322. Selected housing unit cost series, 1951 to 1976 E49-59. Average weekly wages and salaries, industrial composite, by province, 1939 to 1975 If you look at the numbers for 1965, you will see that the average value (as listed on MLS) was $15,918. If you extrapolate the wage data to a yearly rate, the average wage was $4732.52 That is a ratio of 3.36:1 Yes, I agree that famiy income has gone up due to two-income families, but you should also account that there are many more single parent (and thus single-income) families than in decades past. OK, lets look at house prices relative to how much gold it would take to buy a house then an now.Using your previously posted gold values, a house worth $15918 in 1965 would require 455 oz of gold to purchase. 455oz of gold today is worth approximately $318,000. That is not dissimilar to today's price of an average house.
  15. Personally I would not vote the same as you in this case. I believe we should take care of our own trash and not export it to other countries.
  16. I don't doubt that a white Christian immigration policy is your preference, but who else do you speak for when you say "we". Them and all the other Canadians who supported the adoption of the Constitution and the Charter. Since the Liberalization of Canada. Why, would I have been lynched prior to the "Liberalization of Canada"? Can you answer how many federal referendums there have been? It amuses me to no end that the only evidence you demand is referendums, yet you use "talk shows" and "obversations" as evidence to form your own opinions. Since you are convinced that Canada will be consumed by the US would it not save you some trouble if you just moved there now? There are folks there who will welcome you and will even give you your own white hooded robe.
  17. What makes him more special is not that he is a born Canadian. What makes him more special than you is that he is not a racist. If you actually read what he said, it is that he is ashamed you represent yourself as the voice of the Canadian majority when you are clearly not.
  18. Ironic that you would reject evidence from third-party sources, but ask for proof from the government. Isn't the govenment controlled by those same political parties your consider corrupt and in collusion? Yet you would accept evidence from them?
  19. What kind of adaptation are you expecting? You expecting them to change their religion, or perhaps the colour of their skin? Its a free country. If I want to worship Greek gods and sing Gregorian chants, I am free to do so. Personally I doubt that it causes cultural problems with the majority of Canadians. It of course causes problems to a few closed-minded bigoted racists who can't deal with the cultural diversity. It is unfortunate that those small-minded bigots claim to speak for the majority. Do tell, what form will Canada be in?
  20. Trying to provide evidence to a closed mind is like trying to play music for the deaf. It is only worthwhile for those who can appreciate it. I have provided you all kinds of evidence in the past, but you are much too myoptic to actually acknowledge it. You dismiss polls, and surveys, and any evidence you don't like as the result of a conspiracy to hide the truth. Yet, when asked for evidence of your own, you refer to radio talk shows, which you can't even name. LOL, it would be a waste of time to provide you with evidence of what everyone else already knows.
  21. Just because the low-level jobs move offshore doesn't mean the business moves offshore. There are many examples of onshore businesses which manufacture onshore. In addition the government usually will collect consumption tax regardless of if the goods are manufactured offshore. While some have lost benefits, others gain beneifts. Net, net, when we allow free and open trade, it encourages the production in the location where it makes the most sense and gains the optimal benefit. In general you are right. The free movement of capital and goods is a good thing when looked at at a macro level, despite any micro-level disruptions.
  22. Ah I see. It isn't enough for you to know that people indivudally donated the funds. You want proof they came by those funds from legal private sources. I guess you cannot take a statement at face value despite how obvious the meaning might be. Perhaps I should be asking for proof that white Christian Canadian majority, is indeed white and is indeed Christian. You can't be too sure. They rub their ethnic magic lamp and it suddenly appears. Yes, most of them are.
  23. Seems like what you are saying is that you are unhappy that the Charter and courts that stop the majority from bullying the minority and imposing its "culture" on the minority. Isn't that exactly what the Francophons did in Quebec with their language laws? BTW, once the population balance shifts (and it eventually will), will you integrate to the culture of those former minorities since they will now be the majority? I'm quite familiar with it actually. We share many parallells with th US, however I do know we were given the option to join them in their revolutionary war and did not. We chose our own way instead. In any case, you didnt answer the question. Only a few posts back you admitted that you had no idea. What enlightened you in such a short period? Proof is never absolute as attitudes can change over time, however I have provided lots of evidence to support my position, something you have failed to do, moreover every election is an indication of the will of he people. No need. The Charter has a built in weakness: its override clause. You simply need to convince enough like-minded people to vote in a government which simply used the "nothwithstanding" clause to override any Charter concerns on any legislation. Good for you, Leafless, Good on you!!! Don't let them get away with it. Pretty soon they will be making Punjabi the national language, and converting your church into a temple. Er, besides whine and complain about minorities and collusion in politicial parties, how is it you intend to fight? Ah yes, the country which passed a Patriot Act and locked up thousands of people without a trial. Shining example of a democracy. Come to think of it you are right. There are some places you might just fit in and be accepted. Although I've never seen you ,I'm guessing your neck is as red as theirs.
  24. You apparently cannot distinguish between the firm conducting the poll and one reporting the results.CanWest did not conduct the poll so it is irrlevant if you consider them biased. SES Research conducted the poll and here's a direct link Charter Values That's BS. You or anyone else can commission a poll or survey if you want to and publish the results. How is the federal government stopping you or anyone else from doing so. In order to maintan this charade you play you need to keep expanding the scope of your conspiracy.
