Now we have Trudeau the shallow proclaiming that Canada is a 'post-nation state', ie, not even a nation.

At least you have to give him credit for admitting the truth.  We are not a nation.  We know why we have immigration happening in these massive proportions.   I did not know that before I came here in 2001.

And I asked about the muck boots, because this is one small example showing that our enemy is not outside this country.   Our enemies are mostly  inside Canada or having the ability to manipulate Canada from further away.

Obviously nothing else is happening in Canada.

Apparently we never had any real meaningful news ever!  The virus just made this painfully obvious.  We were being fed bullshit, while the rich were using us as a tool to rape the environment.

Think about the deep discussions we had about Carbon Tax.  Carbon Tax did fuck all.  The virus helped reduce our carbon emissions 10-20 fold in a month!  But I am sure I am still paying carbon tax to our corrupt useless government.

But now they will reap the rewards of their own schemes.  Now that they have to depend on other nations for medical supplies.   Of course the other nations will first take care of their own citizens before ever considering shipping anything to Canada.  There goes the global market economy concept  and the outsourcing of jobs strategy.

I propose Canada elect a Canada First government

All sounds good in theory till the time you have to define what Canada is, who is Canadian, what our mutual goal is and so on.

I have a very basic problem.  I want to buy myself a good pair of winter waterproof hunting (muck) boots made in Canada for $50-$100 but guess what?  They want to sell me a pair made in China for $200.   Can you solve my problem?

I wonder if the daily shootings and killings in Toronto have stopped or just not reported.  I haven't turned on the news today, can't listen to anymore of it.

They have no news of criminal activity any more.  All they talk about is sanitizing, washing hands, buying masks,  tenant eviction restrictions or rent raise suspensions and what not.   There is virtually no regular news any more.  Well, some of it is due to cancelled events that did not take place to get in the news.   Also how can one in the US do a mass shooting at a theater, school, concert or workplace when those are closed.  (sarc.)

  5. the actual chance of getting infected is LOW if you simply wash your hands regularly, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough  and do not touch surfaces others touch;

I can agree with anything else , but this line, which may also be true, however we do not know yet.

Not touching surfaces others touch is easily said than done.  Think about the grocery basket handles at the store, the washroom door knobs, any time you pass an item to someone or others pass to you and finally the possibility of viruses suspended in the air.

We know nothing and this is why we have all these severe measures in place and the markets reacting to it.

If you allow this to descend into a great depression, you will harm more young people, than the old people who have a few years left to live anyways.

I am afraid our system will collapse completely and we can start killing one another over food, once the supply chains are disrupted.   There have been fights in stores over toilet paper already.  EI and money from the government helps nothing.  People still need to go to work and produce.

Would you be ok with discriminating against China, and not allowing any more of their citizen's to move to Canada, until China agrees to have elections?

I am perfectly fine banning them.   Those eating dogs, cats, bats, tadpoles and those that are still willing to buy parts from critically endangered species are not my brothers.  Sub-humans of some sort, maybe.

And yet I keep seeing signs that say "This is Indian land" during the blockades.

This is because of generations of people using the wrong terminology.

I want to be able to call the residents of India or immigrants from India  "Indians" and not "East Indians".  There is no such thing as West Indians, although I have heard of the West Indies (the Caribbeans)

  9. 6 hours ago, cannuck said:

That makes the term I have used for the last 70 years and will continue to use: "Indian".

The main problem I see with this is they have nothing to do with India.   The fact someone decided to call them 'Indians" because that someone thought they found a new route to India is indeed offending.    Maybe we should give them the right to come up with a name for themselves as a group and use it.

Same with black people.  They were called n* in the past which was apparently so offending that I cannot even use it here.  Then "black" was offending too.  Now they call them "people of color".  I still do not think this is a proper term.   If they can think of a name they can identify with and be proud of, I can use it.   This would make everyone's life a bit easier.

Actually with the right reforestation, community development, transportation, and energy infrastructure, we could develop Canada for the next 300 years, including with selective immigration.  It won’t be a zero carbon footprint economy and will require big carbon sinks.

Clearly you have absolutely zero idea what you are talking about.

Ignoble? The various bands voted for the natural gas pipeline.

Yes, various bands, but not "the various bands".  As we can see some were against it, or we would not be seeing this level of opposition.

Think about this.   I am against each and every pipeline, mine or road built into the wilderness.  Does anyone know about it or cares about it? No.  I just do not matter.    If you have hundreds of thousands in opposition, then you can see a few dozen actually doing something noticeable.

I'll hold off condemning anyone for this until the RCMP have finished investigating.  Both the company and the printer stated they had no hand in the decals.  Until further notice, I take them at their word because in the current anti-oil/pipeline climate, I would not put it above someone on that side of the debate to be responsible in order to stir up yet more controversy.  Just sayin'.

Did you miss this part while reading:

"Michelle Narang of Rocky Mountain House, Alta., first posted the graphic on her Facebook page Wednesday evening. She said a friend who works in the oil and gas industry texted her a photo of the decal and told her an X-Site employee had been handing them out"

Why do you think and X-Site employee will be handing those out, if it had nothing to do with them and they knew nothing about it?

Now an oil service company in Red Deer raped Greta?????   Geez, the guy must have had some long schlong to reach across and ocean.

Whatever Greta gets, Greta's parents and backers asked to receive.   Putting a child on stage to parrot endless BS is absolutely going to get a reaction, and they got it.  They did nothing to harm the kid, they were just behaving like boorish rednecks.

Supporting someone who illegally blockades railroads is not offensive, it is illegal - so I guess we know what your values are.

Call them rednecks, canucks, whatever.  Clearly they displayed what was on their minds, which was raping the girl.  Then they were sick and stupid enough to make a decal out of it.  It shows you it wasn't a single person who is sick, but at least a bunch of them.

As to the blockades, I find them appropriate, considering the group involved opposed the pipeline, but its territory was invaded by construction workers and the RCMP regardless.

It's completely laughable to even think that Canada is a SOCIALIST country.

Absolutely.  Only a person who has no idea what a socialist country is can raise the question.

EI is not a social / socialist program.  It is insurance, like car insurance for example.  You do not get to collect EI unless you have worked and contributed to the pool.

It is shocking to see so many people pointing at EI as a sign of socialism.

The level of support?  Get real.  A majority of those protesting are anything but supporting the obstructionist chiefs - they have agendas that have nothing to do with pipelines or land claims.

Supporting oil and gas is supporting these guys:

Rapists of the environment and rapists of children.  They do not even hide it but present it in "art" and are proud of it.

I'm against the country going bankrupt.

Don't we have a national debt already? Don't US have a national debt?  Just about every country seems to be bankrupt and by who?  Money is owed to whom?

Our world is a big scam; a pyramid of sorts.  We at the bottom only try to manage things at our micro level and still most of us are again in debt.
