This is a bc story, but it's a problem all across canada and one that is having a major impact.  I see if frequently.

    Here's some of the prolbems:

I think there is only one problem called "unaffordability".

It is likely many are on the verge of becoming homeless.  Having those rules in place allows the non-paying tenants to still have a roof over their head at the expense of the (often very greedy and unreasonable) landlords.

The guy wasn't just a nazi - he was SS.

If you want to take something old out and beat it to death start with him.

OK, so he was admitted to Canada and lived some 70 years in this country where nobody ever questioned his past, when his past must have been known.

Start with that.  Now at 96 all hell breaks loose.  Complete nonsense.

The speaker of the house embarrassed another nations leader in our house of parliament, for that he did deserve to be dismissed...and had our PM any balls at all he would have apologized to Ukraine in person.

As I said , no evidence Mr.Hunka committed any crimes.

Had anyone had the guts to defend a Canadian citizen, there would have been no reason for embarrassment and resignation.

This is my take on it and I leave it at that.   Or we continue to beat the old horse to death....

    1. You just implied  he was forced to do anything they asked or risk getting shot...since he did not get shoot, we'll assume he did something....Thats a good place to start, to look into his past...

2.I also said if there was any proof of misdeeds, Poland will have to show that before Canada hands him over. and if there is proof he should be charged and have his day in court...

    1. I implied that in general this is what would have happened.  I have no way of knowing what happened to Mr. Hunka in particular and if he was faced with having to make such decisions himself.  "a good place to start"  LOL  I like your humor ?

    2. Poland just heard a member of the SS Nazi was found in Canada and jumped the gun in another symbolic gesture.  If they had anything against mr.Hunka in particular they would have been looking specifically for him over the past , what 70 years??

The bottom line again is, we proved what kind of a highly discriminatory BS system we have right from the top down.

Instead of defending a Canadian citizen who has been peacefully living in the country for nearly all of his adult life, we had to portray shame, apologize, condemn, ask people to resign and so on and so forth..........over nothing.

2....killing unarmed civilians is against the law period, even back then they don't care you would be shot if you did not, you still committed murder...

    1. Yes

    2. Do we know if Mr. Hunka killed any civilians?   Where did "innocent till proven guilty" in our Western society go?  Or you want to go by cowboy standards  "shoot and ask questions later" ?

You should do some research, there my communist friend.. You know what? I do not know what the "Western soldiers" can or cannot do, but even assuming all of what you wrote is true, we were not discussing the options a present day "Western soldier" has.

We were discussing the options of that 17 year old who joined the SS Nazi squad.

You don't determine what is lawful or unlawful.  You do not know who is on the other side of the wall.

You are in it and the best you do is try to stay alive.

You are getting excited apparently but are still not convincing to me.

"crimes" ?      What crimes?  You the army guy should know better.

You got to war and you follow commands.  You are not allowed to think and skip those orders you find inappropriate.  This is how the system works.

Was the guy who dropped the nuclear bomb over Japan a criminal that went to jail for life?

How about all those fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, who ended up killing civilians and children?

Once in a war , YOU ARE A CRIMINAL AND A HERO.  Just depends on whose side you are on.

And yes, age is of note as well.  The criminal system takes age into consideration ; what you take or don't take into consideration - who cares?

i heard that too - only comes to prove Canada is not the only country having a ridiculously dis-functional government.

You do know that in Canada murder does not have an expiration date. being a war criminal does not either they do not care how old you are. Lets be clear , at 19 years old he knew what was right and wrong, his unit took part in the killing of civilians that were not combatants that fact was uncovered in the Nuremburg trails, but for some reason was not persued...t

o stand up and say he is just an old man...is bullshit... he got lucky, and lived most of his life in peace, while many of his units victims did not....and now he has been discovered he will answer to man, then he will answer for his sins by god...

The fact that this country let this animals into our nation after the war is a slap in the face, it is OK to turn away a ship full of Jews knowing full well they would be killed, then welcome the same men into our own country, to live next to men and women you fought against them, or had sons killed by them...that is F###ked up...

At 19 he knew what was right from wrong?  Probably yes, and yes, there would be some 12 year olds capable of mass murder as we now have plenty of examples, nearly all of which come from our neighbor down south!

Was this particular 19 year old one of them?  Most likely not!  Do you believe that the Nazi had thousands and thousands of brainwashed criminals?  It would be like saying that their whole gene pool is garbage.

If you are a 19 years old and with a gun to your head with your only option of doing what you are told or being killed yourself, it is not something you do by choice.  You think those Ukrainians joined the Nazi with the only purpose of extirpating Jews, LGBTqs, ROMA and other minorities - you think this was the main selling point in the army?

That guy may have genuinely believed he fought for Ukraine.

As for the shame of letting him into Canada - if his past is again considered criminal, this was of course the main mistake.

Now at age 98, I would definitely leave him alone.  Too much other more important shit to dig into , than this!

    https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/bc-teacher-reprimanded-shows-grade-2-3-students-animated-video-sex-suicide

The punishment was issued after the teacher let the video play even after becoming aware it was inappropriate

A teacher in the Coquitlam school district has been reprimanded and ordered to take courses after showing a short film depicting scenes of sex and suicide to students in grades 2 and 3.

This is why parents don't trust teachers and want laws guaranteeing their rights.

She "accidentally' found the film.. but didn't turn it off when she realized it was inappropriate.  Just show some grade 2 and 3 children some gay sex, what's the harm

I doubt very much that it was by 'accident' that she found it  and showed it to her class.

I wonder what would have happened if she showed the kids the House of Commons giving a standing ovation to Mr. Hunka?

Would this be considered inappropriate and would she be suspended for doing it?  ?

Trudeau claims his government's drug policies are saving lives.  But the statistics tell a different story.

    quote

“What the science tells us is that the best ways to support people struggling with addictions, first of all, safe consumption sites. There was one when we came into office in 2015, now there are dozens and dozens and dozens across the country, and they are saving lives significantly,” Trudeau said.

Here’s the thing, Trudeau has increased the number of places for people to consume hard drugs but hasn’t funded or mandated addiction services to help people kick their habit. The result isn’t that lives are being saved by his policies but instead people are dying.

Trudeau said that the expansion of safe consumption sites since his government took office has saved lives, however, in 2015, British Columbia recorded 529 “drug toxicity deaths” but in 2022 there were 2,272 or an increase of more than 300% in one province over seven years.

In Ontario, the number of opioid-related deaths went from 728 in 2015 to 2,907 in 2021. The number of emergency room visits from opioids alone went from 3,628 in 2015 to 17,023 in 2021.

The more permissive attitude is not saving lives by any standard.

At the end of January, British Columbia was granted permission to decriminalize what the federal government deemed personal use amounts of certain hard drugs. Anyone found with 2.5 grams or less of heroin, morphine, and fentanyl, crack, cocaine, meth or ecstasy won’t face charges.

Advocates for making Canada’s drug laws more lenient regularly point to places like Portugal which legalized virtually all drugs more than 20 years ago. What they don’t tell you is that you can still be busted for possession but sent for treatment rather than being sent to jail.

In Canada, we seem to want to adopt the policy that says make drugs legal, make them easier to get but we don’t want to offer treatment for addictions. This has been my problem with the legalization and safe consumption argument for years. The governments pushing easier access to drugs for addicts don’t make easier access for addiction treatment part of the package.    unquote

Trudeau claims his drug policy saves lives but overdose deaths rise | Ottawa Sun

If safe consumption sites and legalization of a certain amount is the answer, why have the number of people dying of overdoses been going up?

On the outside, what I see is this.

Trudeau legalizes drugs ; his wife starts a business manufacturing and selling drugs.

Then they separate to make it look acceptable (as opposed to unacceptable).  Some say the two will get together again, once Trudeau is voted out ; which would leave him managing a drug distribution empire.

Isn't it Really embarrassing for a premier's wife to be manufacturing and selling opioids?  Under any circumstances?

She couldn't think of a better business or use of her time?     F* Me !

That poorly constructed grammar could be interpreted as that he fought against Nazis. At least they could have said 'alongside'. But even that's disingenuous, it was a Nazi division

The whole situation is **-ic beyond belief.

    1.  Mr. Speaker is apparently oblivious of Hunka's past and never checks his background before putting his whole name and career on the line.  Kind of gives a whole new meaning to the term "political suicide".

    2. Everyone in the house is clapping hands (and turning themselves into ****** in the process , and rightly so) as nobody knows anything about this huge Ukrainian and Canadian hero

    3. They immediately called the situation the greatest Canadian embarrassment and asked Mr. Rotta to resign because Hunka was a "Nazi veteran"

Well, Hunka is 98 in 2023.  The war for the Nazi ended in 1945.  If you do the math the guy was likely 19 years old when the war ended !!

What kind of a "veteran" and Nazi could he have been ????

So we have a rotten political system, a rotten medical system, a rotten immigration system, a rotten society.  We can't meet any climate targets because we do not even try.  We are an embarrassment all over - but here you go, let's blame it all on that 19 year old in 1945, now 98 year old, who may have a few more months or years to live.

Let's show the world that we are really disfunctional all over.

    How pathetic!

If the economy collapses, it will be because of our useless puppet on a string politicians that have turned our economy into a fkn mess. If they would stop blowing our tax dollars and wasting them on useless communist like programs and agendas we would be in better shape than what we are today. The government blowing our tax dollars is what is causing inflation. Not we the people. Government is the problem, not we the people.

If we had more freedom, and less government and less taxes, we could possibly be all millionaires by now. My opinion.

They are probably blowing money on useless things but at the same time with the amount of ever increasing damage from climate events more and more money is needed to be spent on rebuilding roads and bridges, fighting forest fires, emergency services and rescues.  The insurance providers will likely start going under if they were to replace all property damage.  It is like fighting a war that you cannot stop and cannot win.

The idea of reparations to people who have never been slaves, and whos grandparents weren't even slaves, based on the idea that all white people are guilty of it even if they never owned slaves or even if their families didn't live in america at the time is woke.  :)

One consideration is missing in the above logic.

Imagine the FN's had an equal start or were even far ahead in whatever the game was; then they were pushed back so far that they never ever managed to catch up.   Now the offspring of those who pushed them back are claiming they are in no way responsible.

The final result though is that FN's offspring were left far behind while the whites continue to enjoy privileges facilitated by their ancestors.
