  1. Not if he can manipulate it to his ends. The Electoral College helps with that - people without a majority of American support can be presidents. Why can't the constitution be changed through amendments. Hasn't it happened in the past? I don't know what it might take to do that, but I don't think it's enough to prevent politician's from trying to exceed the power the constitution currently allows them. Can you point to other American presidents who undermined the media, spread misinformation daily, fired anyone and everyone who disagreed with them, set Americans against each other, invited paramilitary groups to 'stand back and stand by', called into question the integrity of your election system in the way Trump has? Did FDR declare the next election null and void if he lost? Did any of those presidents hint that they might not go quietly if they lost? Just exactly which president(s) in America's past have done all of that?
  2. 1. Puerto Rico is already an American territory, and while it's citizens do not (usually) have to pay income tax to the US, they are subject to US laws in other respects. Why should they not become a State, vote in elections and pay income tax? 2. Dilute the Supreme court - to what, exactly? Not being a completely partisan conservative court, as the Republicans have now made it? Why do you disapprove of Democrats stacking of the court, but not Republicans? Considering that the majority of Americans consider themselves socially liberal, the appointing of judges who do not represent that majority view is certainly not what the American people want, so why are the Republicans doing it? Why was it ok for the Republicans to refuse to let Obama name a judge for months because "the New President" should name the judge, but now it's "rush her through in mere weeks"? Why do you support in Republicans what you decry in Democrats? 3. Show some cites - not from right-wing rags- that Biden has said he wants to shut down the country. Show cites - not from right-wing rags - that Biden wants to 'train the citizenry to obedience". Both those things sound like tinfoil-hat theories. 4. Puerto Rico is already a territory of the US, having to follow certain laws. Why shouldn't they be allowed to vote, if they want to join the US as a State? 5. If the only way that Republicans can win is to limit voters and suppress votes as much possible, should they be allowed be govern? 6. Comment on Brown Shirts with Nazi Germany - Trump just said to White Supremacist groups "Stand back and Stand by". 7. Speaking of Nazi Germany, how much of what Trump is doing now did Hitler do prior to his taking over as dictator? You should check that out, but since I know you won't, I'm happy to lay it out for you: Attack the media; Hitler used terms like "Lying Press" and "Fake News", and where else have we heard that but from Trump for the past 4 years. Degrade those that disagree with them; Eliminate those that disagree with them (how many non-sycophants has Trump fired? All of them, right.); Attack minorities (Trump - Muslims & Mexicans; Hitler -Jews and Slavs); Tight border controls/closing were promised by Hitler and Trump; Demonizing enemies; Hitler used terms like "parasites, criminals, leftist scum", terms which Trump also likes to throw around. Neither Hitler nor Trump were elected by majority vote; Hitler called into question the integrity of the election process, and tried to reduce the number of people whose vote could be counted. Trump is currently doing both those things. Please, look into it and then ask yourself why you support someone who is following Hitler's path so closely.
  3. Regardless, its well known that Trump's style of leadership is authoritarian. Threats to not leave White House if he loses, claiming he could only lose by "cheating" (aka letting everyone vote), using the army to quell civilian protests, calling on paramilitary organizations to fight other Americans on his behalf, creating a common enemy called "American Democrats", along with minorities. These are all practices engaged in by politicians who want complete and unfettered power. He's cheered on and venerated by you, WCM, OW, Betsy, Taxme, bush_cheney and many others in the States and Canada. You guys should at least own your ideology. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/23/trump-authoritarianism-portland-cbp-election https://www.justsecurity.org/70544/trumps-moves-are-right-out-of-the-authoritarian-playbook/ https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2020/10/07/what-authoritarian-countries-can-tell-us-democracy-and-trump/3518563001/
  4. But authoritarianism is ok and must be supported at all costs.
  5. This world has been made by idjits like you who act as if this virus is no big deal. You whine about 'old folks who can't see their family' and give no thought to the families of the millions who've already died around the world. My partner waited in line for about 30 minutes. Nobody cursed at her in line; nobody knew she had Covid till she got to the triage nurse. Complex? Wash your hands; Keep your distance; Wear a mask when shopping and in enclosed spaces; Quarantine when instructed to do so. Yup, that's real tough and hard to understand.
  6. 210,000+ dead sounds like a 'swath' to me. But what do you and your psychopathic leader care, eh? Btw, Corona has now killed far more people in the West than Islamists ever did. But hey - as far as you are concerned, people are expendable for political partisanship. One death from an Islamist is an unacceptable crime; 100,000s of thousands of preventable deaths from a virus is unremarkable.
  7. Easily? They guy can barely breathe. He was stupid to leave the hospital, but what else can we expect from a psychopathic narcissist.
  8. We don't throw them in jail - we fine them and send them back home. Just cause I'm all for jailing them if they can't follow the laws doesn't mean that's what we do, eh? I'm also getting to the point where people like you, OW and Taxme should be fined/jailed for your disinformation campaigning and undermining of public health guidelines. You dumb Trump cultists should be considered at the same level as terrorists for your deliberate infliction of harm on the rest of us.
  9. If they're gonna break the law, yeah - charge them, fine them, jail them. Partner had to go to the hospital Sunday. Lady comes in behind him, sick, with her son. Partner gets triaged, and can hear the nurse at the Front say to this woman "You are supposed to quarantine for two weeks, and if you had to come into the hospital, you are supposed to call ahead". Partner overheard the nurses talking about it, and they were very upset. So yeah, one stupid person who refuses to follow the rules, put my partner at risk, put everyone they were within several feet of at risk, put the medical staff at risk because they couldn't be bothered to just call ahead to say they were coming in so that the staff could take proper precautions to protect everyone else who was there. So you take your "poor 'merican tourists" whining and shove it up the same excrement-filled hole your head inhabits. They break the law, they get fined. They can go back to the States, and stay there.
  10. Yes, imagine that .... Canada has laws, and enforces them!
  11. Trump goes back to White House.  Seems clear he was never sick, just pulling some BS.  Trump organization owns stock in Gilead and Regeneron, which developed the drugs that were supplied to him and will no doubt be touted as saving his life, thus driving up stock value.

But he'll need the money since he owes $400,000 million dollars around the world, all coming due in the next four years.  Plus the penalties he'll get for tax evasion.

    F'ckn scammer.

That's serious TDS, you really believe a whole hospital and doctors would be party to that...

Leaving hospital after only 3 days of covid treatment seemed wrong to me.  Figure someone truly sick wouldn't do that.

But I just saw clips of him struggling to breathe after arriving back at WH.  Maybe he shoulda stayed in hospital.

Why should he stay in the hospital?

You think they wouldn't be giving him top notch care at the White House?

Trump is not an ordinary person.   He is a head of state.   Kindly wrap our heads around that and stop comparing him with others having covid!  You bet he's getting well and above the kind of care ordinary people get!

Lol, I heard of people being turned away from the hospital unless they're really struggling to breathe - and here's Trump with hardly any symptoms showing, and you gets get all hysterical just because he went home! Freakin' unreal!

  12. What kind of political ideology threatens war if their candidate loses? Totalitarianism? Religious autocracies?
  13. She's probably too old for him.
  14. Trump can't either, that's why he either pays them or rapes them.
  15. Live Update: Doc says Trump doing well, no oxygen today, no fever for 24 hours.  Critical time is 7 to 10 days, but today he's improving from yesterday.  Won't give specifics as to how sick he was, or specifics on tests.  Will continue with Remesdivir for five days.  Everybody except the doc speaking wearing a mask.  Trump might have been on oxygen while at the White House, reading between the lines of what doc said.

I hope he recovers because dying would be a disaster for the US, in my opinion.

But I don't trust what comes out of the WH, so why would anyone put out the info that he's doing so much worse than what his docs say?

As to the other notification, if you don't know how that's done, my shift on the techie helpline is over.

Dora the Ignorer.  That's cute.  :)

Trump releases a new video, he’s doing well, and speaking well.

Yeah, I know. It's like Dora the Explorer, except that Dora actually does explore.

  16. And if their situations were reversed, Trump would mock Biden for being sick, as he mocked Hillary in 2016. A great American has class and dignity, which is what Biden is demonstrating; a stark contrast to Trump's crass cruelty in similar circumstances.
  17. I don't know why there's an assumption that cheating is required for Democrats to win. Polls have consistently shown for the last four years that most Americans disaprove of Trump; why would anyone be surprised if this translates to being voted out of office. Anyway, Trump has already invited his followers to cheat by voting twice. You guys would be all over Biden if he said this, but with Trump its crickets. Cultists wothout the ability to think independently of your leader's instructions, the lot of you.
  18. Yeah, it's pretty bizarre just how much corruption they'll accept from Trump. Maybe it has something to do with sunk costs, but its gullibility instead of money.
  19. Trump = tax cheat.  Should be in jail.

I'm not saying I think he's lily white, I'm sure he isn't but the IRS so far hasn't charged him and I don't believe that they would hold back if they had something.  Trump can't do anything about them, in fact I think he is under investigation, so if they find he cheated, they will charge him.

Sure Trump gets rid of people who oppose him, so does Trudeau.

But the guy who donates his entire $400,000 salary every year is "stealing" from the American taxpayer.  Actually I think he is losing a lot of income, wouldn't be surprised if he goes broke.

I guess Amazon is "broke" too, and committing "tax fraud."    It's called writing off business expenses because of expansion, thus reducing the overall taxable revenue.

  20. Why? You don't take Trump at his word.
  21. I more or less agree with you. Some good things, yes, but a lot of it seems to be recycled stuff he already hasn't done. Way less than what I was hoping for, though I think the promises around the environment, indigenous people, systemic racism and immigration will have a certain segment of the population ready to rumble. Anything to make conservatives cry, I guess. (j/k)
  22. Apparently, you can't actually comprehend what you read.
  23. I've posted plenty of examples throughout this thread. You and the rest dismiss them as irrelevant, so why would I bother trying to pierce your Islamophobic bubble again?
