Also, the Religion of Peace rescued a police officer at risk to his own life, and has been rewarded for his heroism. https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/palestinian-saves-austrian-policeman-in-vienna-attack/2030645

Sadly, there is a certain amount of truth to this, though imo, any government that relies on religious teachings for its governance is going to follow a similar path. Religion's primary focus is on control through fear and punishment, rather than a secular focus on rights for everybody.

The posters here are not representative of all Canadians. Most Canadians are more tolerant and accepting than Argus, DogonPorch, Infidel Dog, Scribblet, Betsy or you. No non-Muslim Canadian is going to support the death penalty for pictures of your prophet, or for blashemy, or for being gay. Most Muslim-Canadians will not, either. You play games with words, hiding behind the Koran, but you seem to be one of those Muslims who have so little regard for non-Muslim lives that death to non-believers is acceptable for cartoons you disapprove of. Given your support for beheading of a teacher, I'd say you have no room to accuse others of intolerance; in fact, I've never seen any of those people support murdering Muslims - only that they do not come to Canada because such extremism and intolerance is not welcome.

*sigh* Your article specifies 4 months. My article says 6 months. They are saying essentially the same thing. Anyway, it's early days yet - both articles may be right or wrong, but until we know more, it's irresponsible to suggest herd immunity is a good idea.

Liberals to greatly increase immigration in coming years.

So when a company wants to hire a foreign worker, they have to provide proof of what they pay current new employees, show the offer letter that states the salary and terms of work, and payment must be within the general wage paid within Canada. They also have to prove that they've made attempts to hire within Canada. Source: managed the process for hiring several engineers from other countries, for ship design company in BC. Marcus knows what he's talking about, Argus does not and anyone who thinks businesses are routinely hiring from out of country to undermine Canadian wages are whacked. And if you know of a company that is ripping off foreigners, report them. -

That's not how our immigration system works, of course, but you're not one to let facts get in the way of an anti-brown-immigrant agenda. -

This is too nuanced a conversation to have with you. The world hasn't been entirely habitated by "tribes" until a minute ago. There've been civilations, different societies and cultures, for about the last 3,000 years, and people moving between them. I don't really want to get into another argument about this, we have different ideas and likely will never agree. -

@Argus. I could agree with you if the goal for less immigration was to reduce emissions and create a country that focused on economic moderation, equality and sustainability rather than unfettered growth, increasing poverty, decreasing middle class and a tiny group of ever richer individuals or corporations. But as long as we're immigrating people, I don't see any region being inherently better than another. That's probably because I actually like being exposed to and learning about different cultures and lifestyles. I've read a good bit of the stuff you've posted, and I can find plenty of studies, reports and opinions that say the opposite of what your sources claim. Humans have moved between regions and countries since we learned to walk, changing elements and also accepting elements of their new country. History also tells us that the claims you make against certain immigrant groups have been made against virtually every immigrant group that's come to Canada, except the British. Irish, Italians, Polish, Catholics etc - all declaimed as too culturally different and barbaric to be welcome in Canada. And, like today, any crime committed by individuals from these groups was used as "proof" that the entire group should not be allowed to immigrate to Canada. You aren't saying anything new, just recycling the same stupid shit people have said throughout history to "other" people and allow discrimination, persecution and hate to flourish. -

I'm not really fanatical about anything. Immigration is kind of important to support economic growth, because without immigration our population would be in decline, and economies don't "grow" when the consumer and worker pools are getting smaller. I know you'd prefer immigration from European countries over non-European countries, but the interest in relocating to Canada among Europeans is relatively small. I doubt there'd be enough to "grow" or even sustain our population or our economy. China might be able to supply enough people, but would you be any happier with a lot more Richmonds across Canada? Somehow I doubt it. Especially if you thought China required political fealty from Chinese-Canadians. -

Don't know what could possibly be convenient about choosing to carry a fetus for six+ months, through morning sickness, emotional chaos, achy boobs, tiny kicks and punches, emotional attachment, stretch marks, just to have a surgical procedure followed by days or weeks of bleeding and pain. If you think woman routinely "choose" late term abortion because it's "convenient", you are a complete and utter moron and fool. -
Unsuccesful immunity experiment with Covid-19. Tldr: A Russian doctor, 69 years old, caught Covid and had mild symptoms. Curious, he had himself tested for antibodies and found that by six months, no more antibodies were found. Still curious, he deliberately exposed himself to the virus, and the second infection was much worse. Pushing for "herd immunity" is irresponsible, especially when we don't know if immunity lasts more than 6 months

Probably. I believe there could be a better way, just have to eliminate barbarism and selfishness. Not gonna be seeing that any time soon though. 'Shrug' -

I don't think eliminating extremes of poverty or wealth automatically means everybody makes exactly the same income. Who really needs 100s of millions or billions of dollars to live comfortably or well? Also, people who are very successful are usually doing what they enjoy, and that would be true regardless of the monetary reward. Unrestrained consumerism and economic "growth" will be deadly to everbody, eventually. Anyway, like I said, it's just a pipe dream. The world shows no interest in exchanging short term gain for a truly sustainable future. -
I pretend nothing of the sort. Unlike you and other Trump cultists, I consider evidence and listen to experts. Its true my conclusions lack the paranoia and delusion that yours do, but that also means I don't have to live in terror of Trump, Biden or the Chinese. I expect they are, along with Russia, America, the UK and who knows how many other countries.

I agree. "Growth" cannot continue indefinitely; we need different metrics to assess economic performance. In my ideal world, a good standard of living for everybody - no extremes of either rich or poor - and essentially flat "growth" should be the goal. I know, its a ridiculous dream. -
I'm guessing you are talking about me? Anyway, my neighbor wears hijab and abaya when out of the house. My sister wears abayas, pants, skirts, and tops depending on her mood or whatever, and does not cover her hair, unless she goes to a Mosque. They both consider themselves Muslim. Perhaps, like DoP, you feel justified in declaring who is or isn't Muslim, based on your own beliefs about what Islam teaches. But like any religion, Islam is full of stuff that can be intrepreted different ways. So, while the killer in France and DoP believe that death to non-believers is the only Islamic option, neither my sister, my neighbor or their husbands believe either forcing Islam on people or murder is an option for Muslims. That's three lifelong Muslims, all raised in Muslim countries (and one Western convert) who believe Islam really does teach peacefulness and tolerance and who have different views on appropriate female dress. Point being, Muslims are not a monolithic group who all believe and act exactly the same.
