  1. "They were old, fat, sick," is easy to say when you aren't the one in hospital on a ventilator or being lowered into the ground. Stop denying reality.
  2. Did I say cold, or are you just trying to mischaracterize what I did say? Covid is more deadly than the flu, at least up to Delta. (Omicron may be different, along with every strain after it - but we don't know yet). When was the last time the flu killed 30,000 people in Canada over 18 months? Or more than 3/4s of a million in the States? Stop making out as if the only people the flu, or Covid, kills are oldsters. You should also take into account that even mild cases of Covid can result in 'long Covid', sometimes severe enough to keep them from work. And just because someone is old or has comorbidities doesn't mean their deaths can be written off as proof that "Covid isn't that bad". Like Shady, you use comorbidities as a talisman to ward off the truth about Covid and how deadly it really is.
  3. If she was that popular, she'd have won against Trump. And it doesn't seem that Trump turned off enough voters to maker her a winner in 2024. Also, she lost to Obama, so two-time loser, notwithstanding her association with Big Bird. I could be dead wrong, of course - have there been any polls?
  4. Nope. If the Dems try that, they'll lose again.
  5. Covid is deadly. So is the flu. So is diabetes. So is Cancer. Lots of things are deadly, without actually killing everyone who gets it.
  6. Were you and your family tested? 'Cause if not, you don't know for sure what it was - OW just posted on here that he was sick for a while, but the test for Covid was negative.
  7. Five died in total: A cop, sprayed in the face with bear spray and hit with a fire extinguisher; a Trump supporter who was shot by police; one from a heart attach; one from a drug overdose; one from a stroke. Two cops committed suicide as a result of the riot. One hundred and forty police officers were injured, including one with a brain injury. Some of the officers will be dealing with their injuries for the rest of their lives. Downplaying the violence and loss of life on that day is wrong.
  8. How can you miss the point so completely? Anyway, as my first post in this thread stated, I'm against fines for unvaccinated. I'm also against hysterical statements comparing this Covid situation with Nazi Germany.
  9. I compared the situation around the smallpox vaccine to the situation around the Covid vaccine today. I did not compare smallpox to Covid.
  10. Let me explain in simpler terms: 1. Smallpox was a crisis; 2. A vaccine was developed; 3. The vaccine was made mandatory in many jurisdictions with varying degrees of enforcement, some quite harsh; 4. Antivaxers objected, using many of the same arguments used today - minus the Nazi Germany comparisons since that situation was in the future; 5. Once the smallpox crisis passed, vaccination status became irrelevant and once the current crises passes, vax status will again become irrelevant; 6. Being Jewish in Nazi Germany never became irrelevant and comparisons drawn between the situation today and the situation in Nazi Germany fail. If you still miss the point I can only assume it's deliberate.
  11. The point is that virtually the same objections were made when the smallpox vaccine was introduced and mandated in many places. Montreal went so far to go door-to-door to make sure that people were either vaccinated or had the smallpox scars. And anyone who thinks a treatment that reduces illness/reduces hospitalizations/reduces death "doesn't work" should eschew aspirin, antibiotics, cancer treatments, insulin and monoclonal antibodies.
  12. Speaking of history, the same sort of debates happened during smallpox outbreaks when vaccines were mandated. There was no Germany to draw parallels to - a sad state of affairs for the anti-vax brigade - but nonetheless, once the crisis had passed, vaccination status became irrelevant. In Germany under Hitler there was no crisis and one's Jewish roots never became irrelevant. These attempted parallels to Germany are pure hysteria.
  13. If that's true, you should be doubly ashamed for calling Canada a totalitarian state.
  14. You've no clue what living under a totalitarian state is. You just look stupid when you say stuff like this.
  15. This is unfortunate ... Majority of Canadians support fines for unvaccinated.

Even mild cases of Covid an result in death up to six months after infection. from a Study by the Washington University in St. Louis.

“Our study demonstrates that up to six months after diagnosis, the risk of death following even a mild case of COVID-19 is not trivial and increases with disease severity,” said senior author Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, assistant professor of medicine. “It is not an exaggeration to say that long COVID-19 — the long-term health consequences of COVID-19 — is America’s next big health crisis. Given that more than 30 million Americans have been infected with this virus, and given that the burden of long COVID-19 is substantial, the lingering effects of this disease will reverberate for many years and even decades. Physicians must be vigilant in evaluating people who have had COVID-19. These patients will need integrated, multidisciplinary care.”

So you're saying that all 87,000 people the study followed had non-Covid health problems and that's why they had long Covid, or died.  All 87,000.  Enough with the idiocy.

Yes.  They didn’t have COVID anymore.  They died as a result of their pre-existing comorbidities.  It’s even in the link you provided.  Covid perhaps made them worse.  It’s why high risk people need to be careful.

You use co-morbidities like a talisman you hope will keep you safe from Covid.

  17. Chances of dying from the vaccine are infinitely small. If the Canadian experience is anything to go by, 194 (probably over counted) out of 55 million had have died: that is, they died after receiving the vaccine, but not necessarily due to the vaccine. Even if they were directly attributed to the vaccine, that's still only .000281 of a percent. By comparison, the chance of dying from Covid is huge.
  18. Are you saying you agree with the tax, then?
  19. I don't agree with what Quebec is doing. But Covid is deadly, and vaccinations save lives. If the unvaxed were only endangering themselves, there'd be a lot less concern about them. But they create a situation that allows the virus to overwhelm our health care system. Despite the poor math skills of anti-vax, it remains the unvaxed that are putting pressure on our health care system.
  20. About 3 million Canadians have tested positive for Covid; 30,000 died from it. 29 million people have been vaccinated with 55 million doses administered in total; there have been 194 deaths post-vaccination. But dying after a vaccination does not mean that the vaccination killed someone. Ultimately, Covid hurts a lot more than vaccination.
  21. That's a right-wing government in Quebec.
