  1. Trump appreciates Qanon, because they like him. Note: they believe Democrats run a Child Sex Ring.

I hope we can agree that QAnon is utter madness and can be condemned without equivocation?

If JT was so easy to outsmart, how come boy genius Kenney didn't stay in federal politics and show us how it's done?

Were I a Dem pol, I would be pulling back right now and demanding nothing in the way of investigations or impeachment. This story is going to unravel in a horrible way for the Republicans and the best thing to do is to do is to stand clear and let it take as long as possible.

As religious orders disappear, the problem has simply migrated to other lines of work with access to kids.

  5. In Ireland, Stephen Fry investigated for blasphemy against God.   https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2017/may/07/stephen-fry-investigated-by-irish-police-for-alleged-blasphemy.    Doubt anything will actually come of it, just surprised that a modern Western country would even take such an accusation seriously.  Interesting that this falls under a 2009 law, too, not one that had been on the books for decades.

Yes, not much dust gathered on that file before it was binned. Some suspect a liberal may have complained about Fry to get the ball rolling.

One theory regarding the law's persistence is that it protects media outlets from being dared and double dared into publishing cartoons and the like. This way they can blame the government and stay safe.

The 2009 law arose allegedly from a provision in the1937 Constitution.

The case has already been dropped by the police in an equally Pythonesque moment:

      http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/stephen-fry-blasphemy-probe-dropped-after-garda-fail-to-find-substantial-number-of-outraged-people-35692915.html

I'm not sure how many devout complainants are required and how outraged they need to be.

The Irish government has promised to put an amendment to the 1937 Constitution to a referendum vote that would remove the blasphemy provision and prevent any such laws in the future but has failed to yet do so. However, scroll down to the sixth story on this popular satirical website (whose colourful language might bring fire and brimstone down upon me if I quoted it here directly) and you will get a general feel of what Irish people think of the law as it stands.

And Atheist Ireland feels ignored and doesn't understand why it hasn't been prosecuted yet:

  10. uhana Marchand spreading fake news!  She's saying the temporary ban is for 4 months!  How does 90 days become 4 months?

Betsy, YOU are spreading fake news now. For shame, exclamation mark. The name is Meharchand, not Marchand. I know it is pronounced that way on the CBC but she is of Indian rather than French origin and was born in Durban, South Africa.

He's going to have to use his frontal lobes a little more in the new job - there have been problems with impulse control in the past.
