  1. Going to war is not a "vote getting idea" and could very well harm the Tories if it went sour, but of course, Harper is also the head of the Government which requires him to act on events such as these.......But why is its Harper's job to bring the NDP and Liberals along? It is they, based on recent polls, that choose to go against the wishes of the majority of Canadians.....perhaps not the majority of those in Quebec mind you.
  2. The Allies at the end of the First World War "broke" Germany.......should we, like Justin's father, stayed out of the fight against Nazi Germany? Is that the Liberals new meme?
  3. Some "news" on the destroyer and frigate replacement: (Pardon the Spanish to English translation) Said Spanish, Norwegian and Australian destroyers are, in effect, a "Baby Burke" using the AEGIS combat system. And some thought there was no movement...........
  4. What Privy Council issue? Are the actions of ISIS in Iraq and Syria not clear to you? In the other ISIS thread, there is a throng of your own posts demonstrating support for military action......now you're not so sure?
  5. The reason(s) for war are quite clear....
  6. What do you feel he wasn't told?
  7. Indeed.....He also voted with the Government on tossing the LGR.
  8. Tom Mulcair is a member of the Privy Council....
  9. Why is that? Per the several political polls released, it appears that Hyer shares the same views as the majority of Canadians and the Government with regards to ISIS.
  10. .....like I was saying......You could count on one had the reasons wars are fought.
  11. Not a surprise that the motion passed, but thought this interesting: Good on former NDP MP Hyer voting with his conscience a second time...... I'm not surprised here, other than not more Liberal MPs joining him........... It would be interesting to see the Liberals and NDPs response if Turkey is attacked and pull the article 5 card.........I wonder if either/or the Liberals and NDP would support honoring our NATO commitments?
  12. Economic and geopolitical stability in the region won't benefit from a second Iran.......granted an ISIS state, unlike Iran presently, is the greater threat.
  13. No, World War 2, like terror today was fought against an ideology.
  14. This is very true........after the failed "blue beret" mission in the FRY, Canadian Hornets were added to a US led force by our then Liberal Government, to bomb targets to make a "peace" in the region.......the end result, great success.
  15. That is a common myth........The Blue Beret Peacekeeper image, circa ~1960-1995, was only effective when the various warring parties both desired peace, but didn't know how to keep it......Sending lightly armed members of the Canadian Forces to Iraq to stand between the Iraqi army/Kurds and ISIS is a surefire way to get Canadians killed.........ISIS is not seeking peace, likewise many of the later UN missions of the 80s and 90s requiring Peacemaking prior to a semblance of a "peaceful society" taking root. Also, throughout the "Peacekeeping era", the vast majority of the Canadian Forces were geared to fight a third world war in Europe and the North Atlantic........
  16. Was there? Was that before or after he adorned his Pickelhaube, well other Canadians of his age were fighting the Germans?
  17. Weaseling? The only weaseling is on the part of the Trudeau Liberals, that have taken a position counter to the majority of Canadians, well their leader, insults and degrades the ability of the Canadian Armed Forces.............I would enjoy, if allowed to, the views of Andrew Leslie.....this is not his Grandfathers Liberal party......but then again, when Leslie's grandfather was fighting the Germans, Trudeau's father was dressing up as one
  18. Are you suggesting Quebec doesn't factor into both the NDP and Liberals stances?
  19. ......Well the NDP and Liberals represent "Quebec's values".........I wonder if any NDP and Liberal MPs that support the Governments plan, would break ranks and support the Government.....I guess we'll have to wait for the vote.
  20. And in this post by the same author, it suggests that not only a great deal of Liberal supporters favor strikes, but also a portion of the NDP's supporters.
  21. Cable News show on Fox, in which the host proposed creating a merc army to combat terror on a global scale.
  22. Hmm........do you watch the Factor? If so, many holes can be punched through such a plan, but some aspects might lend credible to shore up the Iraqi and Kurdish forces….if funded by Iraq and their Arab allies.
  23. We're not there? So now, you suggest that we can’t afford to contribute on the World stage……Is not a stable world in Canada’s interest? I’m sure you can see the correlation between stability and a healthy economy, moral aspects aside of course.
  24. Couldn't the same be said of a mission in Congo, in that we're cleaning up the mess of another country (same as Rwanda)? None the less, there is an international effort in place (including Canadians, Americans and British) in the DRC......
