I jumped in because I keep reading these posts that go on and on from Betsy. I have weighed in from time to time so I don't think I have suddenly appeared. At least Kimmy and I have been posting quite regularly on this forum in other threads. I have not seen Betsy do the same and perhaps her complaints are directed to days gone by which are no longer relevant? Infected groupthink? What does that mean?

It may surprise many of the men on this forum who are against abortion that women do not become pregnant by immaculate conception, so why are fingers constantly pointing at the women and not the fathers of these babies. Men need to take on more responsibility. JT understands how important it is to protect a women's right to safe and accessible abortion. There is no shame and there should be no secrecy. Women who have abortions do not make the decision lightly and why would they when it is a painful, traumatic experience that they live with for the rest of their lives. Close to 50 per cent of women choosing abortions already have a child so this procedure is not being used as a means of birth control by young people as is the common misconception. Every pregnancy is sometimes just not meant to be and it's time to de-stygmitize this procedure. I do not think that this issue is dead any longer. Witness the fact that two provinces (NB and PEI) no longer provide the necessary medical procedures free of cost to women due to the closing of the Morgentaler abortion clinic (unless two doctors agree that it is medically necessary). The end result will be that women will resort to unlicensed abortion providers and some women will die. Let's hope that this issue does not die and go away.

Forgive me for weighing in on your suggestions Betsy, but I only see you participating in this particular thread. I know that you lash out at me because I am 'favoured' or I have 'aligned with other members'. Whatever, it doesn't really matter what you think of me. However, as a recent new member, I only see you contributing to this thread. And you consistently provide advice on how to make this forum better. I have yet to see you respond to any threads since I have joined. What exactly is your MO?

I respect what you are posting here hardworker. I see no advantage to you for posting at this site. I think it is disgraceful for some of the comments I am seeing posted towards you. This is not representative of all Canadians. I do have empathy for your situation and I hope you get it resolved soon! Please disregard Shady and WWWTT for their inconsiderate responses. There is a map now available for BC and Alberta that indicates which companies are hiring foreign workers and the largest portion were in the food service sector and not in remote areas for resource companies. CBC has an article here.
