  1. Robosmith, I polltely disagree. Whether the US chooses Biden or Trump - or even RFK Jr, America will survive. Moderators, I think Robosmith is a robot.

  2. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-relies-on-reporter-list-notes-during-white-house-joint-press-conference-with-japanese-pm/ar-BB1ls1Ot Yesterday when Joe Biden was at the WH with the PM of Japan, he "took some questions from reporters" lol. Unlike the ice cream cone questions, where he can study the pre-scripted for hours and then rattle off the answer off the top of his head in one or two takes, there were too many Q's to remember the answers to so they just said "F-U, America, we're gonna fake this right in front of your stupid faces." Joe literally had to shuffle through his notes to see which reporter he was supposed to take his question from, then after the pre-scripted Q was asked, he read the answer right off of his notes. There was no attempt whatsoever from the WH to pretend that Joe Biden was answering that pre-scritped question on his own. Leftards here can't weasel out of the fact that the whole Q and A session was a joke and America was the punchline. And Biden didn't just get the questions in advance, like Hillary during a debate, he had the answers to the fake questions right in his hand... 😂 Can leftards try to make the case that Joke Acosta was asking pre-scripted questions? Biden is done now. He's not gonna cross the finish line. There's nothing left. They can indict him for whatever they want now to gain some fake credibility, because he's not gonna be president long no matter what.

  3. I actually think Canada needs to hold back funding to Quebec until the out of province tuition fees are lowered and the settler tax removed. Treating fellow Canadians like foreigners gives non-Quebecers the right to treat Quebec like a foreign country. We don’t pay for services and infrastructure in foreign countries. Anglophone rights in Quebec must also be guaranteed.

  4. It’s always about money and freedom of opportunity. Canada is losing its once very strong brand because our Liberal-NDP federal government can’t help but overreach into every area of people’s lives and every political jurisdiction. The question Canadians are rightly asking is, What’s the upside? Our military and federal bureaucracies such as Passports and Immigration are dysfunctional. Taxes are rising, wages are stagnant, cost of living is rising, and freedom of speech is weakening. The promises of the budget balancing itself and $10 a day daycare for all are falling flat as government and debt balloon out of all proportion, even as the feds continue to borrow money to make more announcements for programs we can’t afford. No one is fooled. In this climate, of course provinces will talk independence. The Canadian model isn’t looking great right now. The 5 year federal term limit is simply too long in Canada. Everyone knows that the NDP will prop up this government no matter how bad it is in order to hold onto seats. Everyone knows the debt hole is growing fast and Canada is a slow moving inefficient machine right now. Other than safety from gun violence and better public K-12 education (perhaps no longer given the mandated woke anti-Canada and pro-LGBTQ indoctrination), why would anyone choose Canada over the US? We’ve lost so much in eight years.

  5. And I would say this is the case at the provincial and municipal and school board levels, too. We are drowning in bureaucracy and are so over-regulated it takes forever to get anything done at any level and usually winds up costing twice as much as it should. Why do the heads of hospitals, colleges and universities earn such high salaries? These are not specialized jobs that require massive education and experience. The head of one of Ottawa's hospitals was a former municipal councilor. The head of the University of Ottawa was the minister of Justice before being appointed to the job. If politicians can do it then why are the salaries approaching half a million a year, or in some cases passing that mark? Because when the boss makes $500k, the deputies have to be making close to $400k right? And then everyone around them gets slightly less munificent salaries. How many non-teachers at universities are pulling in considerably more than $100k? The administrative ranks have exploded at post-secondary institutions. And I see far too many at school boards, too. We need a guy with something like a hard-assed Mike Harris mentality that will go in and start laying people off and freezing promotions and hiring. Not to mention eliminating all those high-priced consultants.

  7. The biggest problem with "woke" is that by its very nature it HAS to affect other people's lives against their will. Otherwise it's just not woke. For example - vegetarianism is often associated as left wing. But the vast majority of vegetarians are happy to just go about their lives eating vegetables. And the meat eaters eat their meat and both are happy. But you get something like transgenderism which goes full woke - and it's not enough that they get to choose what they're going to do with their lives. You MUST acknowledge their pronouns, you MUST celebrate pride, you MUST do all these things or you can be charged with fired if you're lucky or subject to criminal hate crime charges if you're not. I literally worry about speaking to co-workers, because if you say the wrong thing it could have very serious consequences. Clients can accuse you of being racist or sexist or whatever for the flimsiest of reasons and you better be able to defend yourself because it's a job killer if you can't. It's gone way too far.

  8. You keep posting these unrealistic numbers...PP has already told you how he is going to increase spending, and it is not through empty promises like the liberals... he is going to shave existing things already budgeted for...like the billions we spend on foreign aid...like UNRWA for instance... cut some of these excessive social programs...that would be more than enough to pay for any increase in military spending... Forces are in decline becasue Canadians let it happen period... more than 30 % of Canadians answered in a poll that it is a priority...and those numbers are climbing... Rebuilding our armaments is already happening thanks to the liberals it's a small start but atleast it is getting their...will the funding survive i don't know...

  9. No need to be extreme. No one is trying to sell that to anyone. Finland has one of the most powerful militaries in Europe with a population the size of BC. Surely we can find something between what we have now and your hysterical trillion dollars. Conscription is regarded as a good thing in many countries. In 2013, Switzerland had a referendum on abolishing conscription. 73% voted to keep it.

  10. You forget Space Force, American Reserves, Army and Air Force National Guard, Coast Guard. The Air Force reserve has more members than all of the CAF. The US Army reserve has nearly 4 times the number of CAF total members. National Guard has over 400K members. Point is, comparing is fruitless.

  12. Why is this a surprise? I was in the Military (Air Force) for 35 years and during that time we hovered around 60K (regular force) members. We had several force reduction programs to get the numbers down during my tenure. The Military was never a priority for either Liberal or Conservative governments. As for the reserves, they are quite often regular force members (in the Airforce anyway) or members that have quit for personal reasons but still want to be active. Anyway, we are where we are because we chose to be there.

  14. For sure - but the problem they run into is that they pretend they're lilly white clean. And when you wear a white shirt and get mud all over you it's pretty obvious. Trump makes no such claims. And people expect him to be a bit of a muddy person. So when he gets mud on him everyone's like 'meh.' the dems think they can win throwing mud at trump - but they just get themselves dirty and it doesn't make trump look worse.

  16. This is a problem. The last line of defense against corruption and evil gov'ts in a democracy are the people. And too many have given that job up in favour of tribalism and echo chambers. This was a point i've made to another poster here many times and again yesterday i believe - if we the voter are not willing to punish parties when they are caught being corrupt and we reward them with a new gov't at election time then we are basically guaranteeing that things will get worse and worse. I don't care if it's justin trudeau or brian mulroney or chretien or whomever - if we see genuine corruption (not just a few scketchy decisions or broken promises but real corruption like the aga khan or SNC or WE) then no matter what party you prefer you should move to eliminate that corrupt party from power. Vote against them, don't vote at all, speak out - whatever. Help someone else win, If every political party knew Canadians would tend to do that - they would be a LOT less likely to do anything corrupt knowing they were gone if they do. Until that happens all the 'transparency' in the world won't help.

  17. Yes, and Canadians outside Quebec are questioning the value of pumping a disproportionately high amount of tax revenue into Quebec with few benefits for the rest of Canada, not to mention the already baked in preferential rules for Quebec on immigration, pensions, etc. in our asymmetrical federation. All options available to Quebec should be available to all provinces. The Conservatives understand the value of ensuring that all provinces have as much power and self-determination as possible. The federal government should only be focusing on their essential responsibilities and getting them right: defence, ports, air travel, Canada Post, passports, etc.

  18. Well the other question is how do various areas within quebec feel about it? For example - what's to stop the first nations from deciding they want to stay part of canada and voting to secede fom quebec? If quebec demands they have the right to leave canada, then they have to agree those areas have the right to leave quebec. It's a null threat. And that question has been asked already twice, Just throw them out.

  24. She can believe what she wants and act accordingly with my blessings, that's OK. I would certainly defend her right to do it too, that's what this is about. But then we come to: Nancy voted for this and there were enough Nancy's to carry the day. She remains unapologetic and will react the same way next time she's frightened. Point it out, try to reason with her and it won't work. Ask to be left alone and she'll call you Trumper... a name she got from the MSM you refer to. She jotted that down and taped it to the inside of her door so she could remember to scream it at me as I plowed her driveway. Yes, of course information management techniques were on full display here; they were aimed at her and they'll work again next time too. There are courses in such things and next time there will be more Nancys than before and the damage will be greater. I foolishly expected a bit more from the constitutional safe guards in place to protect me from Nancy's government. Turns out her government doesn't even have to defend its actions now, Nancy does that for them. Nancy's preferred destination. Giving her the benefit of the doubt and defending her here is kind, actually I admire the sentiment and even shared it a short time ago. But Nancy's new religion is dangerous and she's gained a lot of traction in the neighbourhood. If she agrees to keep the "Church of Absurdity" on her own property then we can be friends again, but given the quote above, I don't think you're convinced she will either.

  26. Charging them with solving problems is a very different thing than empowering them to do so. You can mandate whatever you want to the managers, but if they're not empowered to get it done and they're cucked from the start by a sweetheart CBA deal, they're nothing more than frustrated talking heads. There are horrible managers everywhere. I suspect even more so in the public sector than in the private, with much of it having to do with what's described above. Trying to motivate and get the most out of people who have no incentive to do anything but the literal bare minimum is a Sysyphean task that most ambitious and capable people would avoid. Creativity isn't required for uncomplicated problems. Messaging and getting the public on your side is more important. It's not like disgruntled public sector unions are going to perform their jobs worse than fat and coddled ones. Mike Harris and Jean Chretien were able to bring things back on-side. Though painful, it was necessary, and only made that way by the pandering largesse of previous governments. Our CBA dealings with public sector unions need to be in-line with supply for workers. If we're short on nurses, sweeten the deal. That's how it should work, but it's not how it is. Overall, the public sector has near-zero vacancy despite its ballooning size whilst the private sector has spent the last couple years struggling to find workers. That tells us everything we need to know.

  27. Nope, that's between you and them... I'm guessing y'all enjoy the banter so fire at will, it's of no interest to me. As to being off topic, some of the covid issues discussed here wouldn't be so contentious had people just minded their own business and left their neighbours in peace. There could easily be a 100 page thread on all aspects of that alone, the effects of it are broad spectrum with lasting consequences, some of which (like lipids vs the BBB) we don't even know about yet. I won't drag the thread further afield, I'll just leave you with a final thought: I'm suggesting that Covid was a big deal and that there's a lot of lessons here for the wise to reflect on. When I hear things like "the Governor has moved on" (I know you didn't say that BTW) or some condescending comment like "it's an old issue, get over son," I see that it usually comes from a contingent of people who were absolutely wrong about absolutely everything. Not only did they get everything wrong (that wasn't good enough for them) they had to hurt a bunch of people in the process and be mindlessly hateful whilst doing it. Insert snippy voice here "move along son." Well, not so damn fast partner... just who do you think you are? Look at the damage caused and then consider the effect of snippy, condescending comments or BS memes on those who refuse to entertain the prospect of covid madness version 2.0. It's not a statistically insignificant group and you may be in for a surprise by antagonizing them further. I was suggesting that doing so creates an easily anticipated backlash on election day, I was suggesting that the people who do that aren't going to like the result, and I was suggesting that all you had to do (not meaning you personally BTW) to avoid that was pretty much nothing. Clearly I can only speak for myself but the whole road rage thing doesn't work with me (or, dare I say, people like me). It actually works against the rager, they seem to confuse good nature with fearful compliance, those days are over, best just stay in your car now... I guess that was my point. Your meme was simply a target of opportunity, a vehicle to make that point, a chance to suggest that the authors of such memes may not like what's coming down the pipe and to suggest they only have themselves to blame for that. I'd also suggest they prepare to get crushed on election day and lose the support they previously enjoyed from moderate minded liberals. I see all of this as self inflicted and perfectly predictable. Were you really expecting a different result? As with the previous post, please note:

It's hard to find, but before that wrong way Joe approached a Marine who saluted him and tried to salute him back but started to use the wrong hand so he put it down and then tried to use the wrong hand again so he put it down and then he just stood there. So the marine finished his salute and motioned for Biden to go to the mariners left only to start to go the wrong way. Then he almost stood fscing the wrong direction before shuffling ahead early so the PM and Marine had to pretend that was on purpose and just catch up.

  34. Parliament has very right to "grill" the CEO's Besides, BCE gets hundreds of millions form Governmental so the government has every right to ask why they lay off thousands of people and increase prices and still accept lots of money from them. they needed to explain themselves and their actions. Laying off people, accepting government money and giving shareholders profit money. You didn't fly off the handle when the CEO's of grocery chains were called before parliament. That has nothing to do with socialism or Marxism. It has everything to do with what are you doing with all the money we gave you. Your single minded obsession with socialism and marxism prevents you from understanding all governments are supposed to give its citizens what they want.

Military procurement is a mess...the military places an order in based on specs, civilians search the market that some what meets those, in other cases major companies will build something hoping to meet those specs...the people with the most influence over what is purchased is politicians..what offsets does the manufacture offer, how many canadians does it employ, can it be built in Canada, all of those over ride what DND wants...and finally what is the cheapest shit available...DND does not have a great track record of purchasing either, Take a look at some of the Army equipment we bought....all the good stuff was a mistake in disguise...HLVW, is a good truck, nobody could figure out why we bought it...we would later find out it placed 3 out of all the competition...sometimes everything is a good choice...

Not only to Europe, but across DND and MDND, people have been stepping up and telling anyone that will listen, that we are in need of deep investment...Everyone already knows most of the globe has noticed our lack of participation, and have said politely hey your a loser time to step up...We are losing capability's along with the expertise in using them every year, once they are gone we will have to pay other nations to teach us the basics on all of these lost capabilities... Lets not forget there is 1/2 a dozen or so european countries that have stepped up to a war footing, are desperately thinking conscription, and boosting their defense budgets into the 3 percent range...We are one of the few that seems to be still riding the wave to the beach....as history has shown, we have always cashed in the peace bonds hard, and paid a price when crises happens in lives...history repeats itself over and over here in canada.

  39. My point on this thread is that folks are moving on. Some simple web scraping techniques can prove this. It is no longer front page news. My example at work was simply another data point. The governor has tired of this and ready to move on to other topics. I have never wavered in my contention that this topic does not move my needle. Its over. But your repeated name-calling shows that you have no self control and you lack the intelligence to express yourself any other way.

  40. I think there'll always be an expectation that Canadians should still do the responsible thing when a more collective approach is called for, as in the case of any other emergency. I think COVID made it clear that a sense of their shared responsibility is what Canadians abandoned. Given the power of hindsight perhaps we can come up with better ways of checking all the misinformation that compels so many people to mistrust their governments - we already know that misinformation about vaccines and alternative 'remedies' led to thousands of deaths and hospitalizations not to mention the billions of dollars that cost. But of course better transparency and accountability is something we should always be working on constantly. I think it's clear as day that if we don't address public mistrust and another even deadlier event happens sooner rather than later that it'll make COVID look like it was only a bad flu that killed a few old farts. I still get the sense some people think COVID was an opportunity lost and that we should have let it rip.

  41. Canada has lived this very post for most of it's most of it's history and it is wrong....And it has cost the lives of thousands of Canadians...thrown into combat with little to no real training, with equipment that was not proven or sub par, just ask the crew of the sherman tank what they thought of their tanks in comparison to Germany's or the Russians... Man has not learned to talk out it's problems, which is why violence is still a political tool...We need to defend ourselves, and par take in ALL our defensive agreements not becasue it's political but becasue it saves the lives of those men and women that are going to be sent into battle...my son and daughters, and future grand children are at risk as is yours. If we are not willing to defend ourselves, then we don't deserve our current freedoms and rights. Becasue it is nessicary maybe not at this day or week, but at some time we will need to pick up weapons and defend what is right... Not sure why Canadians are content with having someone else pay for our defense, I'm sure American tax payers are not thrilled about picking up the tab, i know if it was reversed i'd be pissed as well....we as a people have become fat and lazy, we spend our time trying to see what we can glean off our government instead of having any pride whatsoever and stepping up... Sometimes it is embarrassing to be Canadian.
