  1. Maybe it's just you. Of course the numbers of deaths went up as the epidemic spread, and you can also thank anti-vax beliefs and other COVID misinformation, a contagion spread by word of mouth, for contributing to the increase as well. COVID misinformation may have caused thousands of deaths in Canada: report The estimates are conservative because they don’t capture all the 'flow-on consequences' of misinformation, such as postponed surgeries, the authors say https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/covid-misinformation-thousands-of-deaths-report

  3. Yes I have and its you who flailing wildly. Unless you can show that these foreign governments paid waaaaaay over and above what it normally costs then no harm no foul. They came to DC and stayed in his hotel, do you really think the piddly money Trump made by them staying there would change his opinion of world leaders? Yes it is piddly if you separate out the stays and individual government officials along with the profit margin of the hotel. Now if they stayed in his hotel and tipped a bellboy named Ronald Crump a million dollars then you would have a real case.

  5. Governor Ron deSantis in the Republican Presidential Debate this evening January 10th said "States like California are offering all aliens free medical care and no states should be allowed to do that"., well Mr. deSantis only runs Florida and yet in the Covid years , Florida, following the GOP medical plan for aliens 86,000 people died. That's a lot of voting seniors ....

  6. The government is deliberately expanding MAID. I see this as a form of genocide. Could it be that government sees it was a way to save vast amounts of money? This psychiatrist explains what is going on in Canada with medical assistance in dying (MAID). He says MAID is drifting to being out of control and may be already out of control. Over 13,000 people chose MAID in one year in Canada. He says this is far more than any other country which has it. The government is planning to open it up to people with mental illness in a couple of months even though there are many doubts and concerns about doing this. Professionals say it is impossible to say a person with mental illness of some type will become better or be reverse the illness and therefore they say MAID is not a rational option. There are also questions about MAID being offered to people who are having difficulty with in securing housing, food, etc. and as a result they want to opt out by taking MAID. The same situation exists for people with health challenges. The government is not providing proper care for people with mental issues, health challenges, poverty and so many are thinking their only option is MAID. 7. If Joe Biden performed official acts for Burisma because his son was being paid by them, I believe it’s a crime. But there’s no evidence. Firing prosecutor Slotkin is not evidence because it was very clear that many entities in the U.S. government and outside the U.S. government wanted him fired. However, Donald Trump was prohibited from accepting money from foreign governments while he was President. That’s the law. Not the letter of the law, that IS the law. Trump’s hotel should have refused business with foreign government officials in order to comply with the law. Most Presidents and Vice Presidents put their assets into blind trusts in order to comply.

  8. Why should Canadians be killing Canadians? There are ways to mitigate suffering that don’t end life. Putting people down like sick pets is not an achievement. If people want to end their lives they can find ways. We’re just making it tidy and efficient, and there are incentives for alleviating financial burdens on the healthcare system, the kids, caregivers. Whatever happened to trying to fix your life? It’s all part of the same give up attitude that brought us the divorce epidemic and free hard drugs. Nothing good or aspirational. It’s about taking the easy way out. That’s where we are.

  9. Medical ethicists predicted the slippery slope. Unfortunately some cats can’t be put back in the bag. By the time most people realize what a mess they’ve made, it’s too late. When nothing is sacred, all manner of evil becomes arguable. Don’t get me wrong, there are compelling counter-arguments. I’ve just come to the conclusion that our civilization is getting worse instead of better, probably from around 2019 onwards, so I’m in restoration mode: https://www.noahpinion.blog/p/book-review-the-end-of-the-world

  11. The threat of foreign dictators is more a result of our own failure in the West to value and defend our Constitutional rights and way of life. The pandemic should’ve been a wake up call to remind people how fast their freedoms can be removed if the people don’t push back and question. That’s why I think we have to be careful not to let the alternative lifestyle lobby, the climate ideologues, and the new racists (EDI crowd) take away all our attention from the erosion of our way of life. I can promise you that Russia and China don’t have time for any of that. While we are sleeping and arguing over pronouns they are militarizing, making infrastructure deals in Africa, implementing the Belt and Road Initiative, etc. Our society has become unmoored because we no longer have or assert admirable core principles for ourselves and the rest of the world. I don’t want to see Canada learn the hard way through unnecessary war, but we may be forced into it. Instead of equipping and strengthening our military, we shame and soften them. I can see new crises being used as excuses for Canadians to hand more control to a government that is very much under the influence of unaccountable international bodies and foreign governments like China. If you add surveillance, A.I. algorithms, and all sorts of crises, real or fake (health, EMT, aliens, climate change, psy-ops and deep fake misinformation), you have many ingredients for totalitarianism. That’s why for me it’s all about protecting local decision-making and the most basic social unit, the family. Communities must keep their rights and culture and not allow big government to interfere. Sure, protecting the environment is part of that, but be wary of attempts to remove rights in the name of saving the planet or keeping you safe. The same goes for attempts to pressure people economically through taxation or over-dependence on the state. Also, beware of attempts to strip away people’s beliefs in any higher authority than the state. I believe that the most important battles are spiritual. Once you believe that life isn’t sacred and there’s no greater authority than the state, much dehumanization and oppression becomes possible.

  17. And Joe DID NOT. No evidence that Joe played ANY ROLE in getting Hunter a job at Bursima, which is WHY you NEVER POST ANY. When Hunter told Joe about the job, Joe said, "I hope you know what you're doing." Joe was not at all happy about that cause he KNEW the political problems it was going to CAUSE HIM. Joe Biden on his son's connection with Ukrainian company You lying your ass off almost makes Trump look honest in comparison. Sorry, you don't get to make any judgements about that. More and more people are calling these Trudeau towns, similar to 'hoovervilles' during the great depression. 24. Rebound - my understanding is that the VAST majority of that money came from a chinese bank for a lease that they had signed and agreed to YEARS before HE RAN FOR PRESIDENT. So the check came in while he was president -but the deal was done long before then. And as to the rest - those hotels existed long before he became president. He's not going to shut them down. So - how is it different than the clintons receiving BILLIONS into their charities which they draw money from when hillary was head of foreign affairs? So why are you trying to pretend this is somehow tied to his presidency? I kinda feel like you're being pretty unfair to @WestCanMan when you try to claim that income from a deal that happened before he even decided to run has any bearing on his activities as president or that anyone should be upset about it. Can you explain that?

  25. I tried it when it was illegal on more than 1 occasion but I've never liked it. I actually have found edibles useful for pain though. I injured my neck and elbow moving some furniture a while back and Advil and Naproxin (iirc) weren't doing anything for me. It was impossible to sleep with the neck pain, I had to try to sleep on a reclining chair and it was intermittent at best. On the 2nd night I ate part of an edible at about 2am and slept for about 5 hrs straight. It was an embarrassingly small amount compared to what a chronic user would take, I think I ate 1/2 of the lowest dosage you can get. 10mg or 10 ml or whatever. I always thought that the pain medication thing was a lark but it's pretty legit.

  26. Maybe because those who have a fundamental belief in justice realize that 'social justice' does not fall into the same category. None that are credible. And remember that green energy is not just what we're doing. We're punishing intensive users of energy and domestic industries, encouraging them to go offshore. We're making energy deliberately more expensive when energy is the lifeblood of industry and the economy. And we're transferring billions of dollars abroad to third world countries allegedly to help with their climate warming fight, though how much of it winds up in Swiss bank accounts is anyone's guess. And remember, when it comes to green energy, it can abandon you just when it's needed most

  27. Exactly. It's not as simple as they think. Just reacting emotionally solves nothing. Reacting emotionally is how terrible mistakes get made as well. Reality is unfortunate and we may not like what it says, but too bad. It is what it is. Whoever made this reality deserves to be shot, imo.

I can only speak for myself, but I am even more philosophical when high. All I do is think of life and politics. Not being high allows me to be happy and do me. Only reason I quit decades ago. Its sadly his only legacy, other than desperately clinging to power with a growing demographic of people that want him to resign.

  34. Honestly i have to agree. The rhetoric should be beyond legendary, the potential for twists and turns between the dems attempts to weaponize the law and trump buying time and dodging , plus trump is going to have funding issues and that'll be interesting to watch how he copes with, the media coverage should be epic especially if it stays neck and neck like this going into the election itself, I think the extremists on both sides are going to be more motivated than we've ever seen before, there's going to be ballot box issues, and no matter who wins i think we'll see all kinds of exciting events after the election's over. Honestly i've gone for the subscription service for popcorn from amazon till this is well and truly over

  39. First, when Trump makes $7.8 million from foreign governments while President, you excuse it. Second, when Hunter Biden makes far less money, you make a big deal about it. To be clear, Trump violated the Constitution’s emoluments clause by receiving money from foreign governments while he was in office. Plain and simple. Pay Attention: The Emoluments Clause says that RECEIVING the money is not allowed, PERIOD. Does not matter if President does any favors in return. But Hunter Biden did not break a law by accepting work with Burisma per se, and that’s the only alleged crime you boneheads have come up with. The rest is pure speculation. For the millionth time: I don’t give a fck about Hunter Biden. If he did break a law, he can go to jail. I didn’t vote for him! He isn’t a government official! Got it? If there’s evidence of crime, the prosecutor will charge him. No crime has been tied to Joe Biden. Your big “evidence” is that Dad made four car payments for his son, who paid Dad back. And Dad calls his son on the phone. WTF? So weak!

  44. I don’t think Netanyahu is as far from their extreme views/beliefs as you would like to believe and I think what is happening now is exactly what the extremists wanted. Again, so what it’s not a contest about whether Israel is better than its neighbours. It doesn’t matter that in this especially ugly part of the world Israel is the leper with the most fingers or the wife-beater who beats his wife the least compared to his neighbours. Israel is failing to the meet the standards of a rights-based democracy and it’s not relevant how much worse other countries are. I think you misrepresent: -how Hamas seized power in that one election nearly twenty years ago, - Israel’s role in helping discredit the secular Palestinian Authority thereby at least indirectly supporting Hamas because Israel wanted Palestinians divided into factions instead of just under the PA and Israel believing Hamas would still be manageable - How Hamas then clung to power through brutal oppression not support of the Palestinian people Also at any rate “collective punishment “ of all civilians for the actions of their government, as Israel is doing and many on this forum call for, is a war crime. Saying things like “but they voted for him” or “but they could have overthrown them” in order to justify or trivialize their deaths doesn’t hold any water in any court of law. But that’s really what they are saying. I mean Israel is not at all being careful. Half the ordinance dropped on Gaza is unguided. They are bombing refugee camps and places they had said would be safe for refugees to go. They’re deliberately shooting unarmed civilians dead in the streets including 3 of their own escaped Israeli hostages who were half-naked and waving a white flag for the troops to come get them. I’m not aware of “revenge” being a valid reason to knowingly kill thousands of civilians, and if the justification is really to make Israel safer from future terrorist attacks, this civilian death toll has done the exact opposite as it ensures that there will only be more and worse terrorism for decades to come by those outraged by the civilian death toll. Exactly as I’ve said many times already Israeli hardliners and Hamas want the same thing: no peace. Israeli hardliners and Hamas have both decided that perpetual occupation, terrorism and war are preferable to any lasting peace in which they will not get everything for themselves As Ive already mentioned Israel actually has a term for this violence they call it “mowing the grass” in other words rather than recognizing a 2-state solution, they would rather accept the cycle of violence as something to live with and to manage.
