  1. I don't think we put anywhere near enough effort into trying to avoid dictators. In fact the opposite is just as often the case. The idea that they'd become more like us is questionable and even reasonable people will argue we're becoming more like them.

  3. There is definitely something to be said about that last part. I don't like Bill Maher in general, but I remember him chatting with Seinfeld and saying something along the lines of "The politically correct are so excessively tolerant that they tolerate intolerance".

  7. There's never really been a "homosexual society", for obvious self-limited reasons. There certainly were homosexuals out in the open 3000 years ago, and rock/cave art depicting homosexuality from 10,000+ years ago. Somehow humanity survived. 🙄

  8. i thought you said the bible didn’t say to kill gay people…? Now your argument is that they had their justifications for doing so . However, my issue is not that people killed each other for bad reasons 3000 years ago. My issue is that people believe this is a divinely inspired book that we should base our morals on today. A divinely inspired book from an all-loving god who is still teaching us to do good based on the book.

  9. I think Biden needs to go, he is a weak leader now with all the recent scandals, and this is not who we need to lead the world with China/Russia threat. But regardless of who the president was. Let us imagine the President was Trump, as much as I did not like Trump, I, for one, would NEVER give trust to a communist ruler such as Xi. Just because I consider Trump a weak not qualified leader? We have different principles then. At the end of the day, he is still part of the American machine that keeps this western system to have somewhat freedom contrary to the other side. and who is on the other side: Russia - Belarus - China - North Korea - Central African Republic - Islamic Republic Guard in Iran - Syria. and this was more out of respect for CSIS which is trying to alert the Canadian political class about the CCP interference and you come around and clap for the man that orchestrated all this, because of old man Biden??!! What a world. 😎

  16. I don't understand the rules with this one. He got really huffy when Jully Black sang "our home on native land" saying we were being shamed etc. I don't see it that way, but if we were then why is it ok to make generalizations about other peoples calling them names ? This, to me, is white snowflake-ism at its worst. Don't accept any criticism of our own country, especially not by immigrants. But denigrate Native peoplss, that's ok ? Trolling. Just more trolling...

  17. I get that you’re playing games by taking a very well-known racist meme which pretends to be innocent but is not innocent and using it to “prove” racism. Let me give you an example: If you ask Jewish people whether they support the phrase “Work sets you free,” would they support it? No, definitely not. Is it because Jews are lazy, or because they know it is the slogan which appeared above the Nazis largest concentration camp?

  19. I get that you twist everything into something else. So here we have documented evidence FROM FOX that they all believed the election fraud story was fake, but they realized that they had to keep promoting what they knew were lies, or else it would cost them money. Murdoch tried to say that only a few of his employees did that, but under questioning he agreed that, yeah, it was all of his reporters. Their senior people went so far as to try to fire one reporter for reporting truthfully on Twitter that there was no proof of election fraud.

  21. Sorry, bigots. That stuff doesn't fly in the state of Florida. https://www.yahoo.com/news/nhl-backtracks-florida-gov-ron-023220181.html NHL backtracks after Florida Gov. Ron Desantis' office blasts league for 'discriminatory' job fair After Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' office blasted the National Hockey League for hosting a "discriminatory" job fair that only allows certain groups of people to attend, the league backtracked and said the event is open to all individuals over 18-years-old. The event, titled "Pathway to Hockey Summit" is scheduled for on Feb. 2 during the 2023 All Star Festivities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and seeks to help "diverse job seekers who are pursuing careers in hockey." According to a now-deleted post by the NHL promoting the event on LinkedIn, the event is only open to certain groups of people. "Participants must be 18 years of age or older, based in the U.S., and identify as female, Black, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, and/or a person with a disability. Veterans are also welcome and encouraged to attend," the event description states. Once again, the great state of Florida brings a bunch of numbskull bigots into the 21st Century.

  26. When things go wrong- when an industry screws up bigly- Democrats will push for regulations with the hope of preventing a repeat. Democrats won't attack Mayor Pete beyond pressuring him to restore the regulations Trump's admin eliminated. It won't be a campaign issue. They won't "come after him." They might if it were his fault, but they simply want the regulations in place. They're not contriving a scenario to score political points. I can't repeat enough that I think this is not significant baggage for a biden campaign. The public is not going to vote against Biden because of some loose blame flinging toward his SoT. The Republicans know this. This hubub is entirely about creating baggage to use against another potential Buttigieg campaign.

  28. We pretty clearly have hit a crossroads where the press is not fulfilling the goals that were set out for it when democracy was designed. The Fifth Estate is supposed to challenge power, not selectively support it based on revenue streams. This is new territory. And the Canadian version is also concerning: government paying for the press to exist while not supporting independent journalists who publish online. The world needs to adjust to the new public sphere, and now. The first step would be for those of us who don't like to be treated like a mass audience to organize... en masse

  29. Sigh. 1. Where's Ukraine's border? Where is Russia? 3. How many times has Russia done that since after WWII; and after its collapse in the 1990s? This is as easy as it gets and that's just too bad that we're struggling to figure that one out. So we should roll over and suck up. Recognize the true masters of our Universe here. Great progress, there. Are we screwed at last, between Putin-cheering righties and syringe "for your own good" lefties?

  32. I think China played Russia, TBH. Both countries agreed that they'd be Switzerland if the other attacked Taiwan/Ukraine, and I think that Russia expected China to move ahead, just as they did themselves. Instead, China held back, and now they're "sitting on a hill, watching two tigers fight". Russia is depleting their army, the US is draining their military budget and committing terrorist attacks, and China is watching it with glee while they're busy building up their military, just like the US did in 1939, 1940 and the first 11 months of 1941. We all know how the world's superpowers changed between 1939 and 1945...

  38. That comment was STUPID. NATO? Huh? 1) By the same token - if the Capulets say it, then the Montagues are guilty of it... Right? 2) Did NATO say that the Cuban 'quarantine' was illegal? The US depth-charged a Russian sub in international waters and their only justification was "There are Russian missile silos in Cuba", a country the US had just invaded - illegally - a year earlier. The FBI wanted Biden elected so badly they interfered in the 2020 election, now the topic of WWIII is very real. "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

  40. At that point I knew the rest would be bunk LOL Time to move on and get over it. What is a Vaccine? "Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting you against harmful diseases, before you come into contact with them. It uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to specific infections and makes your immune system stronger. Vaccines train your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does when it’s exposed to a disease. However, because vaccines contain only killed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you at risk of its complications." https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/vaccines-and-immunization-what-is-vaccination "A vaccine is a type of medicine that trains the body’s immune system so that it can fight a disease it has not come into contact with before. Vaccines are designed to prevent disease, rather than treat a disease once you have caught it." https://vk.ovg.ox.ac.uk/how-do-vaccines-work https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vaccine

  42. In terms of mathematics, yes, it seems so: 1. Education Week's Quality Counts 2021 Report: Florida ranked 4th overall in the nation with a grade of B-. California ranked 35th overall in the nation with a grade of C+. 2. National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) 2019 Report: In 4th-grade mathematics, Florida scored an average of 242, while California scored an average of 235. In 8th-grade mathematics, Florida scored an average of 284, while California scored an average of 276. ---> But Overall, California Wins, can't fight the data: 3. U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings 2021: Florida had 44 schools ranked in the top 1,000 nationally, with 5 of them ranked in the top 100. California had 296 schools ranked in the top 1,000 nationally, with 103 of them ranked in the top 100 at one point. I think this is where the balance will happen. Might be ok to open thousands of programs to study social programs, but as soon as one starts messing with the mathematics sphere, then things will slow down in the department of being what you call "woke" , is my estimation. At the same time, every generation was called every name under the sun from the Times of the Roman Empire writings by the old. However, the new generation tends to grow up, gets a mortgage, and learn some personal responsibility via paying bills. Real Life teaches you fast to survive.

  43. To you they are. And that's fine. I'm not going to argue your interpretation, as we're both just ordinary laymen. Or is that, laypersons Since the majority of those who died were generally the elderly, it's the elderly who were saved by the vaccine. And that makes good sense, even if there is a risk of vaccine injury such as sterility. Not too many 90 year olds are gonna have kids anyway. There's a clear argument of risk vs. benefit. But the mandates are the problematic issue. Especially for the young, where the risk of covid drops to very low. We heard "The young are vectors for Covid." Well maybe that's good. Maybe that's what they're supposed to be, when they're young. They need exposure to all sorts of things that won't kill them. But makes them stronger...

  48. Socializing community values has always been a part of schooling. Patriotic lessons, events such as Remembrance Day and good morals and civics are not a problem but when values change, those that hold traditional values are often left behind. There's no easy rules for such situations, but it's the responsibility of the administration to facilitate such divisions in a pragmatic and positive way for all.
