Through countless rewrites, revisions, removals, and translations . . . . is it any wonder that people question the intent and accuracy of the Bible? Your truth is not everyone's truth. There are many folks around the world in many different cultures that know nothing of the Bible, but are fine moral people. They know their truth and it likely isn't your truth, and it's wrong of Bible adherents to try to trump someone else's belief system.3 points

I don't think anyone can seriously argue that CBC isn't a Liberal mouthpiece. It's been that way for decades, and IIRC it was censured by some ombudsman or whatever for demonstrating a clearly partisan Liberal bias, way back in mid-2000's.2 points

In most cases they submit. I think you meant beat a dog which is different. I don't think you understand dogs very well. But in this case the Russians will not be 'cornered' - they'll have a whole big giant country to retreat into, You know - it keeps getting pointed out that catastrophe is more likely by doing nothing or capitulating than it is by taking this kind of action. And you don't seem to have any response to that. Nor can you demonstrate how doing nothing would be less likely to lead to further conflict. And you've obviously never trained dogs Having done so myself i can tell you with certainty that if you have an intelligent dog then either YOU are going to be the boss or THEY are going to be the boss, and you absolutely do want to corner and confront them when that kind of challenge occurs and make sure they know with certainty that it's YOU. And that zero shite will be taken from them and that challenging you will not end well. And this is the same. Putin specifically and the russian leadership in general needs to understand that when they step out of line that others WILL take action and will not be putting up with their bullcrap and for certain they'll regret it. So yeah - we'll be 'filling our boooooots' and sending the message to his nibs that bad things happen to little boys who step out of line. Punching a vicious bully in the face till he goes home crying is rarely a bad strategy. Saves you a lot of fights in the future.1 point

Brother @blackbird, this is embarrassing, frankly. Are you for real? Do you believe that video? You are pharisee through and through, that's what Jesus would have said it if we go by your theology. Jesus was on the left of communism, the way you are talking, you would have persecuted Jesus if the stories are correct from your New Testament. You want to do that, sure, I don't like socialism either, but don't act like you are the Good Christian, is not showing. It contradicts your theories.1 point

Blackbird has said the following about Canada: Canada is very messed up with a leftist mindset. Canada is more of an authoritarian state with less freedom than America. Canada is a mish mash of beliefs and conflicting ideologies Canada is broken. A. Hard deadlines won't work. Innovation takes time. The current battery technology isn't where it needs to be, to compete with what is currently on the market. I could fill a full sized gas powered pick up truck from empty faster than most vehicles on the market even at a fraction of the size. Plus, it is not recommended to fill past 80% on super chargers, as you're weakening the battery capacity over time. This makes this worse, especially for the vehicles with weaker ranges. I mean, there are fueling stations everywhere. I run out, I have nothing to worry about. I live in a highly urbanized city, but outside its borders, I rely heavily on apps to hopefully find a super charger charging station. I shouldn't feel anxiety when driving and don't with my car. Always have driving electric ones, if driving long distances. Forcing people to change, vs incentives to do so, will make most shun the technology as long as they can. B. Until this is fixed across the board, deadlines are just like building designs. They look pretty, but until you factor in physics, or in this case infrastructure, they remain just that. Pretty numbers. C. One needs to plan for unintended consequences of flipping an entire population onto an already burdened grid with an added and major load. D. They will help, but people tend to buy things when they work for them. Meaning, if I want a luxury car, I can spend 45k on an electric car and get just that. If I can get way more bang for my buck getting say, a Lexus, most will likely go for the latter. Very few will have an appetite to buy to save the planet. Most suffer from the "what's in it for me" syndrome. E. Build a solid infrastructure, and a product that competes and beats fuel powered cars, and people will naturally opt for the better choice. Until its the better choice, only those wanting to feel like they are doing something for the planet, will care for the technology.1 point

The chances of an incident go up considerably if we do nothing. We were doing nothing and war broke out with ukraine. How long till he takes a poke at poland (again) and suddenly it's even more tense. The reasoning your using is perhaps understandable but it's the same reasoning Chamberlin used just before ww2. Doing nothing encourages them to do more till they see where that line is. That's not how he sees it. That's how he tries to sell it. But he knows the truth of it. He got two fists and a foot into the tar baby and the west is using it to humiliate him and weaken him. As to the exit, hard to say but there are a number of possibilities. Zelazny may not want to negotiate a peace that involves giving up any territory but he also can't continue if the allies stop giving him arms. And the russians may not like whatever deal is put on the table but they know the allies can always send even more gear and russia could lose.' And they can bluster about nukes all they want but everyone knows it's bullshit. So - at the end of the day the only way to deal with a bully is to stand up to them. Sure - there's an element of risk but there's even more risk doing nothing Well reasonable endgames would include russia keeps crimea and part of the donbas but ukraine either signs on with nato or does a nato lite contract and is firmly in the western sphere. Or retreat to prewar lines but the us says they won't let ukraine into nato ever. When both sides get really sick of it and one gets the upper hand we'll see negotiatons start. Too soon just yet. And russia wont' be using 'every plane and every tank'. And if that does happen they will retreat, as they have always done. They won't be interested in losing their whole country to a nuclear war. DUDE!!!! - family forum here, put your 'little man' away, and stop talking to it for that matter1 point

That works both ways. Given how much justice depends on evidence that often needs to be scientifically derived and validated I fail to see where there is even room for a religious viewpoint in the scheme of things. Religion has no more place in our justice systems than it does any other aspect of our governance when it insists on placing faith in the supernatural ahead of reason and science.1 point

I don't think that's true. I think this is going to blow up. Trudeau's former advisors are now coming out in favor of a non-partisan inquiry (a former CSIS director among them) and if they keep trying to sweep this under the rug, it's only going to get worse. As for the media not caring, the Globe and Mail has been running daily stories on this all week, and none of them are Trudeau-friendly. This is actually a real and tangible issue that (IMO) transcends the regular culture war bullshit that we're constantly arguing about. I think we can all agree that nobody here wants Chinese influence in our democratic process, and if I was Pierre Poilievre I would push and push and push on this. If he can keep the mad-dog rhetoric down and just keep asking questions and bringing this up, I can see this ending the Trudeau era. Jaghmeet Singh wants this inquiry now - I think he sees blood in the water too.1 point

start by preaching what you say. You answered first this thread, then I followed too. 😄 The language as "Descendant" is used in many articles including The New York Post. Is not being embarrassed, is her shock that she expressed. She is someone who worked with the Communist Party - because she is African-American, now I am supposed to be kind to her, in 2023? To be a Marxist activist? She took advantage of real work done by civil rights activists which pushed change through non-violence in my view. I understand now, so there is a scale. The woman was on the FBI list after people died because of her radicalism, and now, because some possible (my own estimation) neo-nazi or far-right trolls are being disgusting, I am supposed to be lenient to her? Not in my books. I can do both. The Neo-Nazis and the Communists, regardless of race.1 point

At that point I knew the rest would be bunk LOL Time to move on and get over it. What is a Vaccine? "Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting you against harmful diseases, before you come into contact with them. It uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to specific infections and makes your immune system stronger. Vaccines train your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does when it’s exposed to a disease. However, because vaccines contain only killed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you at risk of its complications." https://www.who.int/news-room/questions-and-answers/item/vaccines-and-immunization-what-is-vaccination "A vaccine is a type of medicine that trains the body’s immune system so that it can fight a disease it has not come into contact with before. Vaccines are designed to prevent disease, rather than treat a disease once you have caught it." https://vk.ovg.ox.ac.uk/how-do-vaccines-work https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vaccine1 point

I have little doubt it was. Just as WWII was entirely preventable with a timely and decisive action. It's just too bad we couldn't learn, forget others mistakes, our own. Because you could be sending your people otherwise? This is exactly the same argument as pre-WWII and look how it ended. If Putins, Uns and such of the world are allowed to barge in, destroy and kill, from now on, and with nukes as added argument, what kind of world would we be opening door to? Are you sure you would be safe under that little umbrella?1 point

There are a lot of people out there who have been psychologically traumatized by 3 years of fear-mongering and I think they likely will never be normal again. They can't let go of masking, they want more lockdowns no matter the continued economic devastation, they want more restrictions, they want more censorship, they don't think the government went far enough in coercing people - losing jobs and careers wasn't enough for them. I've asked here many times - what more do they want - and gotten no reply. I think they don't want to speak the words out loud, but I believe they want jailings, detention camps and possible firing squads, since they equate not masking to murder. There was only one study on masking during covid put out by the CDC, in response to them not doing any studies, so they hurriedly put one together in Kentucky. Of course, showing masks stopped the spread. That study was widely debunked almost the second it came out and no one even cites it anymore. For people who have been psychologically damaged by the extreme fear pumped out relentlessly for years - there is no science, no studies, no data that will convince them that masks are useless, the lockdowns damaged society and the economy and stopped nothing, the restrictions were bizarre and non-sensical......like I say - there are some people who will never be normal mentally again. And you're trying to convince them. You can't. They're mentally damaged.1 point

The Neo-Nazi troll (this is based on his postings and other things, my perception) does it again, when is there going to be moderation against low-level posters such as the OP? Believe me when I say I don't agree with <-- the left using the term "neo-nazi" lightly, but with him, I know very well why I am using it. Like, really? I can play the game of embarrassing the specimen daily, but it just turns off people away that want to share quality ideas. Not a problem, I will play the game daily against the uneducated troll. If there is moderation happening, I am also willing to mend my ways and discuss without aggression but as long as we are in the jungle, to survive one needs to tell this creature in words that he is just a hole somewhere and all he has is a keyboard and a computer. It is true what the ancient Greeks said, people are like dirt, they can either nourish you or take you into more dirt. Something similar to that. There is nothing quality this low life produces in my view. Have not seen him once try to pass an idea without the animal-level exchange. It's ok, I can play. 😄 Eventually, he will give up, he can't control himself, he is already using his pea which he calls his brain at a high capacity already. He will go away eventually on his own or the law will get him for something unrelated, with this kind of attitude in society? Are you kidding? Eventually, the law always gets the ones that can not adapt and have authority issues.1 point

Once in awhile a hermetically sealed troll posts something that warrants response, even if for the subject line. 1. Descendants ? Meaning her children, or children's children, or later.... okaaaay. 2. Ancestors, I guess is what you mean. So you have now "discovered" that white slaveowners raped their slaves. Just brilliant. Really you should go away.1 point
