  1. Maybe, but that's just blaming the victim for the actions of others. Like people who criticize a rape victim for wearing a sexy outfit out on the town. --- Well maybe if she hadn't dressed provocatively the rapist wouldn't have targeted her. Yeah, well maybe. But 100% of the responsibility for the rape lies with the rapist. 100% of the responsibility for Nichols' death lies with the cops who illegally and unjustifiably beat him. Full stop.

  2. Unfortunately the current federal government has lost much credibility. I wouldn’t call a government that seriously considers medically assisted suicide for the mentally ill a moral authority on healthcare. In fact they’re dangerous to our health. The provinces? Well I’d say it’s case by case. British Columbia now has one of the world’s worst drug epidemics. They’re allowing the distribution of free hard drugs in the name of helping people. The country has taken dangerous positions on gender affirmation of children, basically saying that what children feel their gender is this week should be reinforced by the adults responsible for their education and upbringing. Government has decided that surgery and drugs to cover up biological gender are okay but conversion therapy, whereby counselling and other non-surgical means are used to resolve gender dysphoria, are not. The federal government and provinces are struggling to focus on what actually impacts Canadians. In a time of high inflation and debt we’re sending billions to Ukraine without a clear end or purpose, as there’s no reasonable consensus on what success means. Our federal government throws additional fuel and heating taxes on people in the name of an unclear project called “fighting climate change” without evidence that Canada’s measures will make any measurable difference, especially when the same government is letting in half a million immigrants (carbon footprints) a year. Everyone with a working brain understands that adding millions of people without the infrastructure and housing to support it only raises our already high housing prices and puts more stress on our over-burdened healthcare system. Yet reasonable discussions about policy are overridden by an obsession with identity politics and narratives about who is most deserving of government/business support based on one’s happenstance membership in a group: black, white, indigenous. Government appears to favour some groups more than others. There’s an overall sense that our Charter rights aren’t properly protected and governments are micromanaging how we think and live in unprecedented ways. The pandemic illustrated the overreach to many citizens. I used to be very proud of Canada. Now that I see our governments doing so much to undermine the mental and physical health of Canadians, with no end in sight for the fear mongering around climate change and the sowing of division between races and other identity groups, I don’t feel the same regard for Canada. Think about how much we’ve been told that Canada is colonial and racist these past few years. Think about how the media has fed the conjectures about child graves at residential schools. Evidence isn’t produced to indicate intentional killing, yet words like genocide are used loosely to equate our country with the likes of Nazi Germany. Our kids are now being raised on these dubious narratives. Why would I want any of the above for my kids? Explain the upside. Unless and until we have governments that are honest and fair in their esteem for this once great country, and unless government reduces its overreach and starts doing the few things we actually need government to do much better, I’m seriously looking outside Canada for freedom, prosperity, and fair treatment.

  3. I am tired of federal politicians like Harper claiming that we deserve better. I am tired of people like Trudeau Jnr saying nonsense about westerners. We Canadians have created a civilised society. A federal State. ===== For example, in Canada, the provincial governments have complete control of education. There is no federal bureaucracy for education. Quebec bureaucrats ensure that federal bureaucrats do not encroach.

  5. We do not vet immigrants other than giving a cursory look at their educational credentials and checking their names against terrorism watch lists. We do not interview them nor ask them any questions about what they think or believe. Including whether they despise certain types of people or certain practices which might be common in Canada. Once here, the test for citizenship takes about 20 minutes and consists of true or false and multiple choice questions.

  8. You need to link some sources, professor. Show where Biden is "attacking" fossil fuels into record profits, then toddle on over to a source that proves the deficit is shrinking under Biden.

  9. Millions of Canadians would disagree with ....... anything and everything. We have become a country of complainers. We want everything for free and want it now. Every emergency room in the country does triage. Those that need immediate help, get it. More and more people go to emergency for minor issues and therefore clog them up.

  10. Seymour Hersh has a reputation for claiming the truth - which many contrarian Leftists agreed with at the time. But in fact Hersh's claims were proved to be false. Let's wait and see. I am reminded of I F. Stone. Stone also supposedly exposed the truth about society. Rob Reiner is another example According to Reiner, Republicans are WASP country-club people who control the country.

  11. 15 billion US dollars or Cdn? ==== The Canadian health system largely works. Poilievre is wrong, and if he wants to make a federal campaign on this, he will lose. === Our federal health system is not about health - it is about insurance. Women, across Canada, feel safer.

  12. Or...he's making up his anonymous sources, or those anonymous sources are making up their stories an he's publishing them. This isn't like Snowden, where he actually blew the whistle and leaked the documents and the NSA was caught red-handed. These are anonymous "sources". Oooh.

  13. I am not 'generally' unhappy. I'm specifically unhappy at the way we are being deliberately divided by government policy because the Liberals see this woke shit as politically advantageous in attracting left-wing voters who might otherwise vote for the NDP. I'm specifically unhappy at a government which has allowed our national security interests to take a greatly secondary priority to their electoral interests in attracting Chinese voters. I'm also specifically unhappy at them allowing our military to deteriorate to the point of uselessness because they don't see military spending as being politically beneficial enough. I'm specifically unhappy at how this government has worked against our natural resource industries instead of taking advantage of them, embraced climate change penalties for those who need energy - thus impoverishing us all while driving manufacturing offshore, all while accomplishing nothing. I'm specifically unhappy at drawing in massive amounts of immigrants to overwhelm our infrastructure, greatly increasing housing costs while holding labour costs low. I'm specifically unhappy that Canada is falling further behind our OECD competitors in wealth and economic well-being - as well as their attempts at hiding this by importing massive numbers to increase our GDP (while lowering our GDP per person). There are a lot of reasons to be unhappy here, and specifically unhappy at this government and its actions, statements and policies.

  15. That's what Seymour Hersh has been doing his whole life. He had some home runs in the past but if nothing else is clear about him it's that he really, really hates the US government and is very, very anti-western. Now he spends his time promoting stories like the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden was fake/staged (with no evidence), that the chemical weapons attacks in Syria were Turkish false flags (again, no evidence), or that the Novichock poisonings were just everyday mob hits rather than state-sponsored (ignoring the blurred lines between the Kremlin and the mob, or how hard it would presumably be for organized criminals to get access to military-grade nerve agents). He has no evidence for any of the above, nor does he have any for the Nordstream story. This has been the unfortunate turn his career has taken within the last ~15 years...just a lot of "anonymous sources" supporting the narratives of Assad or Putin. Russia Today loves the guy.

  16. Except... Hersh isn't exactly flying with a perfect record these days. "False flags" can happen, but the cost of this one compared to the political impact (which I assume would be the goal) makes it seem pretty unlikely to me. It's not on the scale of a completely retarded theory like "911 was an inside job" but I would say this one is sketchy at best.

  17. Muslims becoming a majority is an exaggeration considering that only 5% of Canada's population are Muslims but I get your point. Many of them are not even practicing Muslims and have come here because they hate the imposed Islamic culture and rules there. I know overwhelming majority of Iranians some 250,000 strong fall into that category. Immigration Canada must be more selective when it comes to choosing immigrants, especially those from Muslim countries and as it is now they are not doing a good job. In addition more immigrants from Europe and South America would be a better policy because they pass the adoptability to Canada none of the fanatics Muslims do.

  18. I am against violence too. However I am against my environment being changed negatively through ill thought immigration practices. What was a minority before is quickly becoming a majority and as I have said it many times, I had no intention to migrate to Bombay, Beijing or Manilla.

  19. Mate, if you asphyxiate a person and it’s ruled a homicide, I’m hardly straining credulity by claiming an assault has taken place. Why am I even having this conversation? Read the transcripts and get back to us.

  20. "When you see police lights in your mirror, stop immediately. Everybody knows that if the police have to come get you, they're bringing an ass kicking with them." Chris Rock Sure the police were scumbags. Who do you think they're hiring in the US these days? No one with options and abilities wants anything to do with policing. The smart, capable police are resigning in droves, and every police force is short handed and getting worse. You get no backup from your superiors. You get constantly attacked by the politicians, by the media, constantly harangued and insulted by people on the street you're not allowed to talk back to. In many cities you arrest people for crimes and the local district attorney just lets them out again and drops the charges or gives them a slap on the wrist plea bargain. They won't even prosecute a lot of lower level street crime, often including assault and resisting arrest. And the streets are filled with crazy, drug addicted homeless and violent gang bangers. Who would want the job? And that's without the race angle. Which makes every violent interaction with a black man national news. The media is desperately trying to insert 'racism' as a cause here, even though all the cops were black. But if the cops were white the media would be coming in its collective pants, with 24hr round the clock coverage of this and the ensuing riots peaceful protests they had done their best to provoke. And of course if the victim had been white this would never have made the news outside Memphis. Not in a million years would the national media, including ours, want to focus on a case where five black cops beat a white motorist to death. NO way, no how. They'd scream like terrified little girls and run from this case as fast as they could.

  21. Mark my words: this impending broader European War is avoidable. ===== The Europeans fought in the early 17th century. They fought in the late 18th century. They fought in the early 20th century. God help us all if they fight again in the middle 21st century and involve the rest of us.
