  1. The infringements on freedoms for the vast majority of Canadians are unprecedented in Canada. You’d have to look at Nazi occupied Europe for an analog. It was done also to Black slaves and in the resettlement of Indigenous. This business of requiring digital passports to enjoy basic freedoms, the state-mandated closure of businesses, restrictions on gatherings, and more is breathtaking in its overreach. It is totalitarianism.

  2. Here's your answer. Why Ontario was a sitting duck for COVID-19 People in Ontario haven’t repeatedly endured some of the world’s most severe and longest pandemic lockdowns because of the unvaccinated. The lockdowns keep happening because of the almost non-existent surge capacity of Ontario hospitals, a problem that has been known about for decades and which governments of all political stripes ignored. Canada is in 25th place out of 26 developed nations with universal or near-universal health-care systems comparable to our own, in our number of acute care hospital beds — 2.1 per 1,000 population. Ontario, which spends 42 cents out of every dollar on health care — the province’s largest single expenditure by far — fares even worse. But it isn’t just a lack of beds that’s the problem. According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, Ontario had the highest administrative costs for health care in the country for 2019-20, just before the pandemic hit — 5.7% of total expenditures, a third higher than the Canada-wide provincial average of 4.3%. What I've said before... this is the result of hiring rich people's kids into cushy hospital administrator positions. Nice, life-long jobs starting at $100k/ year for junior position. Aye, there's the rub. The real problems need to be talked about and solutions offered up. Otherwise you'll get nothing but more of these irrational and hurtful mandates. Government needs to be kept in a little box, indoors, and not allowed out.

  3. You are silly. You are just posting links about the claim not proving anything, resorting to name calling. The articles you posted... are cited in the link I posted. Where are the remains now?

  4. Because in two decades you spent uncounted public billions on yourself, produced no improvements, no intelligent effective solutions, just kept alive a system in a permanent state of semi-crisis and so now everyone has to keep rolling their sleeves to let you keep doing such a great job? How much sense would that make, honestly and objectively?

  5. On some other thread some hard core "Progressive" type was getting angry at me on something concerning covid and I said to him, something like, "I'll make a prediction. In another year all of you will be thinking like me and those who share my stance on the mandates and masks and passports. "They're a dumb idea," you'll say. This is good but when the logic hammer does finally bang you over the head so hard you'll have to say 'hi there' you're going to say 'I always thought like this' and accuse me of being slow to get it. Oh well...such is life in a world with Progs. But there's a better thing happening right now. What I'll call the softer or more rational left of actual liberals are starting to get it. I expect this to continue. Would you like an example?

  6. As much as i really don't like the left, it was the conservative Government that cut Vets benefits, they also slashed the military budget to leave a surplus for the liberals... all parties have their finger prints all over todays military state of affairs. For some reason Canadians are afraid of the military, they just don't want anything to do with it...they are fully aware of its poor condition, and have done nothing... it is very telling...

  7. Canadians on both sides of the political spectrum have bought into the entire "WE don't need a military, or who is going to attack us meme" besides there is simply nothing in it for the Average Canadian. Both sides have stripped our military of everything, and now military people are leaving in droves becasue they are tired of giving their all, while Canadians piss all over them and their ideals. They see it as a waste of funds that cold be directed towards them in some way..., they have moved on and could not give a rats ass about anything military or it's soldiers...not all but most... Why we as Canadians still have a military, well it is an employment giant for one, next it has the largest pork barrel in the country, i mean where else can you buy a 200 million boat and pay a bil plus for it...Defense of this country has nothing to do with it, i mean 5G network is a gleaming example, we are still debating giving it to the Chinese...

  9. The way these leftist lieberals talk they try to make it appear as though the whole bloody country of America is loaded to the brim with white supremacists. Funny thing is that we never see these "white supremacists" gathering together anywhere in America and burning down buildings, looting, and rioting and causing total mayhem and chaos. I know that Antifa and BLM do those things. But according to the American media it is okay for those two to do those things. They were justified in doing so. Ha-ha-ha. The FBI are going after and arresting people who were at the Jan. 6th so called insurrection in Washington, DC but they are not at all interested in going after those Antifa and BLM thugs and terrorists, who have committed way more worse crimes, now are they. If one is white, christian, and conservative and support Trump, well then, you are automatically deemed to be a white supremacist. Such bull chit indeed. But that is what we are getting from our dear fascist so called leaders these days. Bull chit and lies and hoaxes. ?

  10. The bottom line for the CPC is, if they oust Mr. O'Toole, who do they replace him with? If past experience is any indication, the new leader will have to appease the reform / Social Credit rump in order to get the leadership. That is what Mr. O'Toole had to do. The problem with that is, that wing is so welded to ideology, they alienate the vast ocean of voters who fill the centre. It is all nice and roses to be ideologically pure. That is what the NDP are, and the only times they have peeked out of their hole is when Jack Layton and Tom Mulcair tried to move them into the real world near the centre. For his efforts, they sacked Tom. I fear the same will happen to the CPC if they sack Mr. O'Toole. The CPC will become another NDP, forever in the wilderness, but happy in their righteous illusion they are pure and it is the electorate that is wrong. Only a moron thinks they are smarter than the average voter.

  12. I am far from being a pacifist and therefore, my values, in that regard are at odds with the 5th commandment, "Thou shalt not Kill." I was an officer in the Canadian Scottish Regiment. My second cousin was the longest serving officer in the Canadian Forces and I have always advocated for a Swiss model in Defence policy. My uniforms as a Peace Officer and an Infantry officer were an "abomination in the eyes of the Lord, " in the same way as a homosexual is. That being said, the state of climate change is now beyond an "emergency" and I believe Mr. O'Toole is the leader who will respond more vigorously. We can transition away from carbon based energy, or we can toss our great grand children onto the barbecue. Transition away from fossil fuels involves two choices: severe rationing or moving to nuclear and solar power. I believe Mr. O'Toole will choose the latter option. Northern gateway is the wrong place to put a petroleum pipeline. Just think of the spill in the Slocan river with the ongoning damage that caused. Imagine what a spill would do to the wilderness of northern BC.

  13. On the parallels, for whatever they are worth, there's an essential difference. The rise of the Nazi regime in Germany was caused by a prolonged, devastating economical and political crisis following WWI and Great Depression. There's no such reasons in Canada. There's no existential threats or crises other than those that the bureaucracy created itself. The only reason for authoritarian management and measures appears to be: because it can. Because there's nothing, at all, whatsoever that could detect, check and prevent unnecessary and unreasonable transgressions.

  14. An isolated, self-absorbed and self-managed bureaucratic Gargantua making its own rules for the society no checks controls or even meaningful explanation. Now it's going to inject everyone at will. Almost there. What's next, plan and stage and entitlement? Anyone wants to guess?

  15. Yes, but blame the unvaccinated who should be fired from work, fined and even possibly jailed. As my wife points out, well at least in jail they get their meals, free health care gym and internet. Even a university education...

  16. First, the US has never raided Barbados. I think you are thinking of Grenada. I know, picky, picky, picky. ? But the people of Barbados and Grenada probably think it is a big deal. It is like when Canadians are called Americans. Being a soldier is contrary to Christian values. Back to the OP. The purpose of a political party is to win elections. Sticking to an ideology goes against electoral success and goes against democracy. We don't have governments to impose a dogmatic belief that a single ideology will solve all problems. Governments are there to provide pragmatic solutions which may not be perfect, but reflect the desires of the electorate. The CPC is running out of viable potential leaders. They are driving good people out of politics. Ambrose, Moore, Raitt. They currently have a leader who is willing to put up with all the back-stabbing that has been going on, and who has a shot at forming a government. There are not enough voters who have confidence in Pierre Pollievre, or Max Bernier types to run a pragmatic centrist government. Mr. O'Toole lost my vote when he backed the Northen Gateway pipeline, but I am willing to give him another chance. He is a pragmatist.

  17. Lauren Southern has made a lot of new enemies covering this story since it came out. She's all over Professor Rouillard QOC. So happy somebody else finally gets it. She video documents the tale from start to finish here: Not ONE Body Found in Canadian "Mass Graves" Once one knows the whole story one has to conclude the way the media desperately built something out of nothing is pretty shameful.

  18. But first... The Surprising Origins of 'Left' and 'Right' in Politics More to the point it appears those on the right wanted the king to have all the power. It also needs to be pointed out the right was composed of a small group of wealthy landowners and mercantilists while the on the left was a far larger number of ordinary people. What it was that right wingers in those days didn't want redistributed above all else was power. Nowadays it seems they don't want anything at all redistributed away from the rich and powerful. This sure doesn't seem to jibe with the right wing sense today that it's the left that wants all the money and power.

  20. There'll be lots of blame to go around alright but the worst part of COVID bar none is having been forced to accommodate people who've regarded health measures as the coming of the Red Dawn. It's been like a fucking incessant high-pitched screeching that gets under your skin since day 1.

  23. You have your answer. This topic has been covered for about a year on this forum, there are tons of examples where people agree and disagree with certain positions. Ultimately it does not matter what we think, especially when none of us are in positions to change the country. (maybe I am wrong) In my opinion, Covid is just a distraction. Inflation, economic damage, disparity of wealth, disparity of power, university brain drain and the collapse of western society is more concerning.

  24. More fear-mongering. You have reason to be afraid, but it’s got nothing to do with getting sick from Covid-19. Read “Why technology Favours Tyranny”, a 2018 article by Yuval Noah Harari. It predicts the “digital dictatorship” that’s unfolding. We can either resign ourselves to being controlled by systems or we can remember that systems are there to serve humanity.

  31. You don’t believe in making the best treatments and protections available to the vulnerable. You want one size fits all mandated meds. You think it’s fine for the non-compliant to lose their jobs and be restricted from freedom of travel and the right to access privately owned businesses, including restaurants and theatres. Well guess what? Your approach is our reality. 90% of us got vaccinated and we’re carrying digital ID as proof to access basic freedoms. We’re all masked indoors and miserable in our workplaces. Mild Covid is everywhere. Living the dream? Satisfied?

  33. Not to mention that this country's food supply critically depends on the supplies from the South this time of year, at -20C. Is it just stupidity or deliberate raising of tensions by pushing a patently failed ideological agenda, when other countries are removing restrictions? I can't be certain any longer here.

  35. That's a dumb view. The government must be scrutinized at every turn. Criticizing them for the sake of criticizing them is foolish, otherwise you're operating on the assumption that everything the government does is automatically wrong.

  36. 1. You mean... since inception ? ? Well... yes it's the state owned broadcaster so... this isn't new information. 2. I doubt you can find examples of the largely right-wing media that received this money tilting towards Trudeau. Since the bailout, the Globe and Mail did the required work of the press and exposed the SNC Lavalin scandal, for example. That bailout is more about the dearth of responsible press options should newspapers die. Democracy was built around the role of the "press". 3. And ? Many national broadcasters in the world don't use advertisement. 4. .1% of budget. If you make $50K a year it's the equivalent of $50 of your budget or $1/week 5. The criteria are published and known. The Sun and The National Post (Liberal haters who are widely cited here) qualify easily. And their chairman applauded the bailout. 6. Not 'retarded' but given that this has been in place for years already and they continue to give him a hard time there's scant evidence this is happening. Arm's length is not impossible to manage. 7. Relevance to Canadians, I would say. Showing their worth.

  38. This disease will become endemic. With a critical level of people getting vaccinated, more people may get the disease and not even know it, experience no symptoms or mild symptoms. The reason COVID-19 is a Global pandemic is that, where it grabs a foothold, we've seen over and over again an appreciable portion of the population get critically sick. It's happening, in a bad way, right now in India. As the vaccine gets to more people we'll see less of this.

  39. The above information, while a valiant attempt at maintaining control of your information privacy, becomes absolutely moot when you are running Windows 10 by Microsoft. Win 10, is, a spyware operating system. Government sanctioned, no less. Under Windows 10 all your files, commands, text that you type and even your voice input can be monitored remotely without your awareness. Likewise with computer hardware. New motherboards are built with certain chips that give direct access to the data pipeline, irregardless of OS. Or like my Pappy used to say, The calls... are coming from inside the house... from inside the house!

  40. I use the term communism as it's the closest explanation to what we are seeing today. There are also elements of Fascism. Overall it's a form of totalitarianism. We've reached a stage now where multinational Corps are being used to circumvent the Charter and impose sick new policy on society such as vaccine ID. Your employer is trying to take on the role of your doctor which is messed in and of itself. Add to that corporations are making their employees pledge allegiance to woke ideology through "diversity training" and other nonsense like that. A marriage between sick politician, business and institutions such as university holding those who don't bow at their feet hostage. Should we tolerate these sick politicians like Trudeau and others?
