  1. she's certainly not the first and won't be the last Tara Henley quits the CBC after finally realizing that they are a bunch of radical zealots trapped in a woke twitter echo chamber trying to stamp out any dissent of their worldview because woke Canadians vastly prefer woke virtue signalling to real journalism

  2. The same thing is happening in universities. If you don’t accept radical left views you’re painted as a right-wing lunatic. Debate is treated as some kind of trauma triggering event. The fastest way to destroy people’s reputations and careers is to paint them as racist and/or misogynist. Our Prime Minister demonizes people he disagrees with this way too. It’s a sick and dangerous game, defamatory too. Inquisition anyone?

  3. The woke are a diversion from more urging problems such as wealth inequality, healthcare and pensions reforms which are the true problems in our Western systems. Do not get caught up too much with them. Banks are corporations are paying the woke movements, big time. You have 'protests' that are funded by TD Bank and RBC nowadays, and even activist groups are being funded by these magnates. They are perfect to disseminate discord across society and making unification of the working class impossible.

  7. The "woke" are indeed a huge pain in the democracy. They scream and burn things down and attack anyone who is not perceived as towing their line. They will destroy a person completely without even thinking about the damage they do. They are indeed, deplorable people. But IMO, what's even more deplorable are these faux conservatives who haunt chat boards like this one, attempting to appear like a voice of reason while fully supporting the authoritarian woke agenda. Such shills need to be identified, and treated as the spinless lairs they really are.!

  9. In a recent Axios poll which surveyed 850 college students across the USA (not a huge sample size IMO but whatever) they found that young people who identify as Democrats are completely prejudiced against those who identify as Republicans. Their poll found that: 71% wouldn't go on a date with a Republican [31% of Republicans wouldn't date a Dem either] 41% would boycott the business of a Republican [7%] 37% wouldn't be friends with a Republican [5%] 30% wouldn't work for a Republican [7%]. The poll never asked whether violence against supporters of the other party was ok but by the numbers it seems like they probably should have. This is the damage done by the Dems' constant lies about white people and police. The majority of Dem politicians are hate/fear mongers who are quite happy to incite violence in order to get votes. There are even TV show hosts on MSNBC (Joy Reid) and CNN (Don Lemon) who are openly racist against white people now. Joe Biden proclaimed for all to hear that he was going to be a president for all Americans but he hasn't done a thing to tone down the racism on the Dems' 24 hr 'news' channels or from the members of his government.

  10. The signs are right before our eyes. But true to our nature we try so very hard to not notice. But here's the thing: pandemic situation that nobody expected (unless you're into theories) has a play in it too. And in a number of essential ways. It makes West reluctant to act strongly (or at all, meaningfully) being involved in its internal struggles and challenges. And there's no better time in dealing with it than that when its involved in itself. Just look back, doesn't take much. Soft talking and "diplomacy" would encourage and invite potential strongpeople and why look for nice words, aggressors even in best of normal times. They know all about the meaning of empty words that everybody knows wouldn't be supported by necessary action. Just look back. These however are times quite different from normal. The pandemic has weakened and immobilized West while it's no big deal really for the axis people. After all what difference is it where little people they own would perish, to the virus - or on some glorious frontiers of new empires? Well, actually the answer is quite obvious, at least for them. And to top it all up, authoritarianism, expectation of and reluctance to question the need for strong and wise management of all our problems is crawling, creeping and seeping from within. Nope, there's no denying it any longer. Interesting times, ne c'est pas? Should we continue our blissful, decades-long slumber and see what happens? Without looking back, even once?

  13. Thank you, Jordan, for declaring the obvious today: “These systems are now shaking. We’re compromising them seriously with this unending and unpredictable stream of restrictions, lockdowns, regulations and curfews. We’re also undermining our entire monetary system, with the provision of unending largesse from government coffers, to ease the stress of the COVID response. We’re playing with fire. We’ve demolished two Christmas seasons in a row. Life is short. These are rare occasions. We’re stopping kids from attending school. We’re sowing mistrust in our institutions in a seriously dangerous manner. We’re frightening people to make them comply. We’re producing bureaucratic institutions that hypothetically hold public health in the highest regard, but subordinating all our properly political institutions to that end, because we lack leadership, and rely on ultimately unreliable opinion polls to govern broadscale political policy. I’ve never seen breakdown in institutional trust on this scale before in my lifetime. I was recently in Nashville, Tennessee. No lockdowns. No masks. No COVID regulations to speak of. People are going about their lives. Why can that be the case in Tennessee (and in other U.S. states, such as Florida) when there are curfews (curfews!) in Quebec, two years after the pandemic started, with a vaccination rate of nearly 80 per cent? When BC is still limiting social gatherings? When we are putting tremendous and unsustainable strain on all the complex systems that have served us so well, and made us so comfortable, in the midst of the troubles of our lives? The cure has become worse than the disease.” Article: https://apple.news/A6_z0o93xQlum525KOKEriw End all restrictions immediately!!!

  14. Absolutely, any interference with individual freedoms on purely ideological grounds is wrong and dangerous. Persecuting gays is no better or worse than that of unvaccinated, the same of course applies to abortion etc. Understanding that we can form a basis, platform for a society that is based on freedom and reason. Otherwise we can be arguing forever whose wokism is the correct one to cancel everything else. In the old times it was about gods. Guess it's hard for us finding peace, that "live and let live" place.

Imagine a society where loving a person the same sex as you is going to put you out of job and may be threatening to admit to even your own family. That was still us a few years back. There will always be 'cancellers'. We have to watch them carefully. I agree with you that the 'Wokes' are like that and we must watch them. But I'm afraid too of the 'cancellers' from the Right.

  18. 1. This is hugely accurate to me. The impact of these issues is as a fly landing on a piece of paper somewhere - inconsequential. Versus problems like our real estate bomb that will devastate the economy when it explodes. 2. The key is the funding... it costs almost nothing to fund a protest or to make a 'woke' commercial. Most of us are considerate enough to accept progress as it is, but the new politics means that these things must be fought tooth and nail. 3. Another interesting take. 23. I understand enough of it to make my own conclusion that it has nothing to do with a) facts b) logic and c) reason. Linking in a public forum conscious reluctance to have mRNA boosting with misogynism and racism without a shred of evidence is deceitful and deplorable. It's sad that the country has come to that. And I don't see how it can get better any time soon with public bureaucrats having zero responsibility for their words and results.

  26. Take pretty much any storyline, topic in "progressive" (so called) media. Always it's on the same blueprint: a heartwarming anecdotal, "kick off" story; a cute and intelligent wise and bearded or female "expert", professor somewhere etc (qualifications are rarely discussed or focused on). And an ugly, aggressive better still, violent opponent, "anti"-something. Here you go, narrative's all ready for public consumption. Label, brand it noisily, loudly, in your face. Ivermectin, a broad anti-infectious drug given a Nobel prize for discovery, in mass clinical practice over four decades a "horse dewormer", not so bad eh? Who said it has anything to do with l-ying only your "information". You want to see isolated episodes but it can very well be a progression.

Your right it was not all private care homes, but it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the entire lot...I just don't agree that adding more is going to solve our problems with health care...The way they are set up is to drain every patient of all their savings or assets period...and once that is done they drain the provinces bank as well, mind you at a much slower pace. I think you hit the nail on the head, government only responsibility should be regulating and enforcing quality care for all. And trust me, i don't think that anything government/ unions run is the answer to anything, but before we add in another layer we should atleast try and fix what we have first.

  36. Politicians of all stripes like to politicize everything and use it to their advantage, and covid is no exception. There was great resistance and pushback to possible alternative treatments and the most notable example was when Trump mentioned hydroxychloroquine as something to examine. I've read about doctors being censored on social media for saying hydroxychloroquine can be effective against covid. Ivermectin and Fluvoxamine may also be effective early treatments against covid according to many doctors. Could lives have been saved if these existing medications would have been used earlier? 40. Right. This is the part where you admit that there was fraud. This is the way with leftist news. They'll admit to the fact that "some people did something" but they'll always lie about the extent of it. E.g., leftists completely ignore the extent of the cheating in the 2016 election. They were 100% caught cheating 3 times. They were the 2016 election cheaters, bigtime, but if the topic of 2016 election cheating comes up they will act like Trump cheated and 'that's the whole story'. The actual undisputed truth is that Hillary colluded with Russian spies. Her lawyer was charged with a crime relating to collusion. The FBI and Dems committed several crimes including unmasking and lying to the FISA court. The House Intel Committee Chair lied directly to the American people over and over about every aspect of collusion, exactly the way that Goebbels drew it up on the board and leftists went for it hook, line and sinker. Russian collusion was a huge scandal for the FBI, Dems, and their media lackeys but you'd never know it from listening to their stooges talk about the 2016 election. They're THE most brainwashed people on the planet. OMG, all of a sudden you're interested in actual election fraud!!!! WTF????

  41. Here's one of the furthest-left news outlets in the US acknowledging that 475 actual fraudulent votes were found. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/ap-review-finds-far-too-little-vote-fraud-to-tip-2020-election-to-trump The problem is that there are tens of thousands of questionable votes in places like Maricopa county that aren't being investigated to a reasonable extent. Mail-in ballots were treated with all the care of bugs on a front bumper. Random dudes were grabbing massive bags of ballots and then they were out of sight for days before they got counted. Then tens of thousands of votes would show up with no votes on the down-ballot. The people who like to pretend that there were good reasons for the Russian collusion witch hunt, even after the FBI already determined in January 2017 that it was bogus, like to pretend that there was never a single reason to question the integrity of the Dems (who are 100% known to have been caught cheating 3x on the 2016 election), or to even look into the voting irregularities in 2020.

  42. I think it was dripping of sarcasm myself, I don't think that being on a voters list and then having to prove who you are is asking to much. voters need to get themselves registered to vote in the US, which shows your interested in voting to start with and those that did not register most likely are not going to vote anyway. Here in Canada you vote in your district or appointed polling station, if your not on the list they hand write you in...as long as you have 2 u utility bills with your address on it, and proof of ID. Your golden.

  43. There is a certain intellectual dishonesty when rabid pro vaxxers compare one country to another and play this game of whoever has the most deaths per capita must be the villains. The virus is very complex and there would numerous factors affecting death rates. For example New York city has multiple times the population density than the GTA. Americans are generally unhealthy compared to say South Koreans. South Koreans are as a rule very healthy, even after they migrate to North America. As another doctor pointed out you can't compare South Africa to the USA, because South Africans are much younger and healthier. And then there is the silence or muteness on the fact that leadership has to BALANCE political freedom with public safety. It is not an all or nothing situation. We don't kill all the sharks in the world because deaths along Malibu beach doubled in a year. We don't ban cars either. A healthy society politically understands there is a trade off. But the sky is falling COVID crowd wants us to forget that.

  44. A constitutional republic to be exact. For the most part, the US has been served pretty well with the two main parties. There is a growing radical element in one of the parties, very vocal and demanding. (Hint, not in the Republicans)?
    1 point
  45. If you listen to Dems talk, you'd think that only white people are Republicans, and that all white people are guilty of systemic racism. The police only exist to enforce white privilege, they're committing genocide against blacks, blah, blah, blah. "Colored folk don't want no cops in their neighbourhood 'cause they'd just be there to kill people. Looting is a form a reparations and equity at work. Only poor white people know how to get ID, blacks can't figure it out. Zimmerman was a white supremacist Mexican-American. Brionna was shot in her bed for being black. George Floyd was killed because he was black." Etc. Blacks who get elected as Republicans are even called Uncle Tom by their own people. The political divide that the Dems have created is disgusting. The reason why Dems can't consider associating with Republicans is because they believe that Republicans are, in summary, evil. Long story short, it has gotten to the point where anyone who believes even half of what the Dems say is a complete moron, and there's a high percentage chance that they're racist as well.
