  2. The way these people are going on in the news, you’d think the friggin world was coming to end because of 2-3 days of warm weather.

  5. The source at New York Times seems to contradict Globe & Mail's reporting. Engineer Warned of ‘Major Structural Damage’ at Florida Condo Complex A consultant in 2018 urged the managers to repair cracked columns and crumbling concrete. The work was finally about to get underway when the building collapsed. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/26/us/miami-building-collapse-investigation.html

  6. The Globe & Mail interviewed a Civil Engineering prof and after reviewing the reports said that nothing looked particularly out of place. Also, members of the Condo Board that oversaw everything are among the missing.

  8. I remember the time when a swimming session at municipal pool was under $3. Now, close to $6. A bus ticket was around $2; at 3.75 now ($ 7.50 return) it's been a long time since I used public transit here, unless absolutely had to. Municipal taxes were under $2K now edging on 4. License sticker renewal, $80 to over 120. Pandemic burger in a shack, $16 add tax 20 with delivery and tip, 30. Used to be a restaurant meal. What's a meal in a restaurant these days, no clue. Higher education is expensive and constantly creeping up. Many countries in Europe have free university education. Healthcare system in a permanent crisis commissions or no. Housing prices through the roof. Rental prices through the ceiling. No worries, let's just try more of the same and see what happens. I know someone who just started in a similar job that I had some years back. Guess what? Their salary didn't double (like that of the MPs), it's about the same may be modest 10% increase. What is it called when prices have doubled but the income remained same? Is it called "rising prosperity of the population"? (not counting public CEOs, heads of commissions and task forces, MPs etc) Edge, edge, edge, nudge, nudge 2%, 3%, 5% always up, up, up and there's no mechanism, no mirror and/or alarm to tell look $10 return trip is too much; property taxes are too expensive; salary of MP/GG has no relation to the reality of an average citizen in the country; there's only so much that a cost of a trivial service like license sticker can be before it's ridiculous and have no relation to the reality. No, none and "representatives" don't count because they are also partisan recruits required to toe party line in exchange for (... synonym here) entitlement and the conflict of interest, to the public or to the corporate entitlement was obvious from the beginning. And now there are two possibilities: it's just me, negative where life is great, rosy and marching steadily into ever brighter future; or this country is heading somewhere and at accelerating pace. Where to, anyone still cares? What if there's hard stop?

  9. If it pans out this would be a game changer, Imagine every country in the world able to produce as much as they could, Oil and gas would over night become so abundant the price would plummet to next to nothing... It is going to change the balance of power in a lot of countries like the ME, Russia, and Canada and the US . The government is going to have to invent some new source of income, I mean who is going to pay all the have not provinces with equalization payments... And as for those climate changers who already spent a wad on t shirts and posters, , your wet Dream has perhaps arrived. WTF are you going to do now with your time...

  10. The Charter of Rights and freedoms has been pushed aside because of this hoax covid nonsense. I am pretty sure that covid is never going to end and go away. All we see every day on propaganda TV is pretty much always about covid-covid-covid and the new covid variants popping up all over the world. We best enjoy what little freedom we have gained today because tomorrow it can be taken away, poof, just like that. The cabal globalists and their lackey politicians have just started with we the sheeple. I fear as to what may happen come this fall. I hope that I am wrong. Only time will tell now. ?

  12. I think in the case of the children put in residential schools, it was more than "allowed"; it was considered necessary. These "savages" required conversion to Christianity, and being savages, were not considered human enough to be treated with the same dignity and respect afforded white Christians, (even poor white Christians, whose children also suffered significant abuse). One only has to read comments on this forum re First Nations to see how ingrained this attitude still is among some people, and how much more prevalent it must have been in the 1800s, when residential schools were established. IMO, the lack of accountability of our leaders today are a hangover from that era, bolstered by people who are convinced that First Nations people should just "get over it", move off reservations and get a job. It's just not that easy or simple to overcome the kind of abuse and harm these people endured for generations.
