eva
For the last 3 years, Jess Bachman, (a graphic artist from Burlington Vermont) has dedicated his personal time and energies on creating an absolutely incredible graph he calls "Death and Taxes". on his website (www.thebudgetgraph.com) he explains what exactly "Death and Taxes" is, he says.. "Death and Taxes is a representational poster of the federal discretionary budget; the amount of money that is spent at the discretion of your elected representatives in Congress. Basically, your federal income taxes. The data is from the President's budget request for 2008. It will be debated, amended, and approved by Congress by October 1st to begin the fiscal year. The poster provides a uniquely revealing look at our national priorities, that fluctuate yearly, according to the wishes of the President, the power of Congress, and the will of the people. If you pay taxes, then you have paid for a small part of everything in the poster." Clearly his dedication and time spent marketing and managing this poster/website/blog are obvious in the remarkable response he's received to such hard work. What's more, the intricate way he weaves the budget information into an artistic form...well, how often have we seen anything like this? the poster itself, is remarkable to look at.. on his website, he offers various views and zooms.. and all are well worth the look. he also allows anyone interested the option of purchasing the poster for themselves, as a gift, or they can purchase one to have sent to their member of congress in the state they reside. So what do you all think? What are your thoughts on this very accurate, very incredible graph? positive or negative, i'd really like to know what everyone else thinks about Death & Taxes 2008. PolyNewbie
I thought the term Death & taxes was going to be a graph depicting the destruction of the economy. Every year the government spends a more disproportional amount to what it has. It also steals almost the same amount and will not answer to where that money has gone. On Sept 10 2001 this amount stolen was 2.3 trillion now it is over 3.5 trillion dollars. ( a trillion dolars is enough for 166 fully equiped nuclear powered aircraft carriers) The economic system is designed to collapse. Its inevitable. Income tax will keep going up while public services keep going down. This is because private banks finance the government with money they create from nothing, Its all by design, the banks own the country and they want to wreck it to turn it into a paradise for themselves and a few friends managed by technology and slaves. All you have to do is look at trends and you can see it quite plainly. The video Money As Debt is posted on google - its a 47 minute cartoon that explains it quite nicely. google "Money As Debt video" Things will stay the way they are until we have people that can break out of the corporate created mind control and think objectively and draw simple conclusions from fact. August1991
It's both spam and of interest. Someone is doing advertising (the guy sells the posters) but the web site also lets you look at US federal government spending, and in particular at disctreionary spending (about 1/3 of the total). It is hard if not impossible to understand government spending in a moden society. This website makes a good attempt.
