David Alward

David Alward is the leader of the Official Opposition and the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. Alward represents the riding of Woodstock in New Brunswick Canada.

Alward assumed his party’s leadership in October 2008. He has been a member of the provincial legislature since 1999. Alward is a member of the standing committee on Crown Corporations and is the critic for post-secondary education, training and labour, the Labour and Employment Board, and the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission.

Stephen McNeil

Stephen McNeil is leader of the Official Opposition in Nova Scotia and leader of the province’s Liberal Party. He has served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Annapolis since 2003.

In the provincial election held on June 9, 2009, the Nova Scotia Liberal Party captured 11 of 52 seats and 27.2 percent of the vote. The party earned one more seat than the Progressive Conservative Party to become the province’s Official Opposition.

Michael Ignatieff

Michael Ignatieff was acclaimed leader of the Liberal Party of Canada at the party’s convention held from April 30-May 2, 2009. He served as interim leader since December 10, 2008, when former leader Stéphane Dion stepped down. By virtue of being leader of the party with the second largest number of seats, he is also leader of the Official Opposition.

Ignatieff has had a meteoric rise in his political career. First elected in 2006, he has represented the riding of Etobicoke—Lakeshore, which is part of Toronto, Ontario. He first ran for the party leadership in 2006, but lost.
