After winning the November 7, 2007 provincial election, Brad Wall became Saskatchewan’s 14th Premier. He is also Leader of the Saskatchewan Party.
Wall was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 1999 as the Saskatchewan Party MLA for Swift Current. He was subsequently re-elected in 2003. Former Progressive Conservative and Liberal Party members and supporters who wanted to oust the provincial New Democratic Party created the Saskatchewan Party in 1997.
Wall became Leader of the Saskatchewan Party, and the Leader of the Official Opposition, on March 15, 2004. In September 2004, he released The Promise of Saskatchewan: A New Vision for Saskatchewan’s Economy, which received significant praise for its plan to expand Saskatchewan’s economy. In the November 7, 2007 provincial election, his Party won 37 of 58 seats ending 16 years of rule by the NDP party.
Wall was born in Swift Current in 1965. He studied at the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned an honours degree in Public Administration and an advanced certificate in Political Studies. Prior to entering politics, he owned and operated two businesses. He then served as Director of Business Development for the City of Swift Current. In 1999, the Saskatchewan Economic Developers Association (SEDA) presented him with the 1998 Economic Developer of the Year Award.
Wall has sat on many boards, including serving as a founding member of the Southwest Centre for Entrepreneurial Development. Wall also started his own ranch vacation business, The Last Stand Adventure Company. Wall and his wife Tami reside in Swift Current with their three children: Megan, Colter, and Faith.
