To the delight of a crowd of workers, Campbell promised to erect a plaque with the names of all the workers involved in the 30-kilometre project.
"We’re out here working 10 to 12 hours a day, so for the premier to come out here has a positive impact on our team," said Karen McRae, the project’s traffic and safety co-ordinator. "The plaque will be a special treat."
McRae said the workers are part of a "pretty amazing" project.
"This is one of the most dangerous highways in the province, so we’re going to be saving lives for years to come," said McRae, 43, who’s been in construction for 20 years. "To be a part of it is amazing."
